Ondo 2016: Crisis brews in APC as candidates blast Oyegun, reject Akeredolu

Candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the September 3 Ondo governorship primary, have condemned the party’s leadership for upholding the election of Rotimi Akeredolu as its flag bearer in the next governorship election.

At a press conference in Akure on Friday, Olusola Oke, Robert Boroffice and Olusegun Abraham, who had earlier challenged the result of the election, said the party leadership had chosen to cover “corruption and irregularities”.

Speaking on behalf of the aspirants, Mr. Boroffice said the national chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun, overruled a decision supported by the NWC and majority of other party leaders.

“He (Oyegun) rejected the path of truth and upheld the primary election that its process was characterized with corruption,” said Mr. Boroffice, the senator representing Ondo North.

He said they were not deterred by the action of the NWC and the “undemocratic behaviour” of the national chairman of the party, but were encouraged by the genuine desire of their supporters and Ondo people to have a change and end the reign of mis-governance in the state.

According to him, the fraud during the primary election was at variance with the anticorruption tenets of the present APC-led federal government.

“We are determined to liberate our people and no undemocratic decision of a party and its leadership will be allowed to misdirect our attention from the goal,” he said.

He said they were still members of the party and would consult with their supporters to decide the next line of action.

Mr. Oke, while answering questions on his alleged defection to another party, said he was yet to leave the party as he was doing “a wide consultation among the people”.

He said reports claiming that he had joined APGA, Accord or Action Alliance, reflected the wishes of his supporters who would like to see him switch party.

“As at today, we remain members of APC,” Mr. Oke said. “In the days to come we will reach out to our people whose desire is our command to decide the next line of action.”

He also said if he would be defecting to another party, he would make it known to the public.

When will our politician learn how to accept defeat. Every one of us cannot be a government. There should be a structure in Nigeria Political system.

APC is about to explode! Can’t just wait..

    • Sean

Forget! APC is just forming, too many rifrafs joined but now we shall separate the grains from the shafts.. APC was sent by God to rescue Nigeria where it not, Nigerians would be trooping into dinghys and ferries leaving the shores like Somalians

      • 123141

There are more internally displaced persons, aka, economic refugees in Nigeria as a result of Buhari/APC’s misrule than there’re Somalians leaving their country. The reason you don’t see Nigerians ferried on the high seas is because (a) they don’t have the hard currency to pay human traffickers due to the worthless naira, and secondly, no one in the west want to welcome Nigerians on their shore after Cameron said and Buhari concured that you guys are ‘fantastically corrupt’. As for Nigeria being saved by Buhari/APC, the sky-high prices of essential commodities in Nigeria today when compared to when Jonathan/PDP was there doesn’t support that lie.

      • Benjamin Okafor

The rescue mission of APC can only be witnessed by a handful of APC propagandists who benefit from the maladministration of the present govt. Nigerians are using other means to leave the shores of Nigeria. Stop waiting to see them in your rag -tag jetties

THE ERA OF VOODOO ECONOMICS IS OVER, YOUR PEOPLE STOLE OVER 30TRILLION NAIRA FROM THE STATE COFERS YET YOU WANT BUHARI TO PERFORM MIRACLES ON SAME ECONOMY IN 365DAYS! SORRY IF YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT THE ECO MEANS IN ECONOMY YOU WONT BE SPEWING STUPIDITY

ONLY ONE PERSON CAN WIN. WHO DOES BOROFICE A SERVING SENATOR AND ABRAHAM WANT AS GOVERNOR IN BETWEEN THEM BOTH FROM AKOKO CENTRAL, THEN OKE WHO ONLY JOINED APC FROM PDP FEW MONTHS AGO WANT TO BE GOVERNOR, HOW ABOUT THOSE WHO HAD BEEN APC FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS? JUMP THE QUEUE? THIS IS GREED OF THE HIGHEST ORDER. THESE OLD F00LS SHOULD JOIN AKEREDOLU TO WIN THE GOVERNORSHIP HENCE TAKE ONDO FROM THE DECEPTIVE KILLERS AND FRAUDSTERS ALA MIMIKO AND JEGEDE. STOP THE WAR AND BE UNITED! OKE CAN GO JOIN AA, BUT ONLY ILAJE/IGBOTAKO PEOPLE THAT WILL VIOTE FOR HIM AND THOSE ARE LESS THAN 40k VOTES! LET AKEREDOLU BE!!

  • Ajayi Ifayemi

The man, OKe, should leave right now. I do not like people who defect when they do not win primary elections. In fact APC folks should start distancing themselves from this man. He only came in thinking he can win the primary ahead of those he met in the party. He is not a loyal man and as such he is bad news!!!

    • Public Record

Ondo state APC poll result is beginning of the end of Bola Tinubu

“Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his group
were warned of the possible outcome of the gamble and the gambit deployed in
producing the Buhari Presidency. Tinubu was so blinded by the pursuit of power
that he failed to take cognisance of the lessons of history and take caution.

Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu hid under the cover of the Jonathan tragedy to bring
back to power an ethnic oligarchy that has held Nigeria hostage for over five
decades. In doing this, he spent money, energy, skills, goodwill, time, sweat
and put in everything he got to ensure the success of the coalition he put
      together.

His hope of getting positioned for greater influence in the run of things
was dashed by those he has helped back to power, because as in the nature of
this ethnic oligarchy, they are not the type that shares “control and domination”
with anyone, not even the best of their friends, as history has shown and events
      have continued to validate”.

Please forget about Tinubu in this case. Akeredolu won. Tinubu’s man did not win. Oke was not Tinubu’s man. I am not fixated on Tinubu. Tinubu plays his politics and others are playing their own. He has not won everything and he does not go around destroying things when he loses. My post was mainly about this man that is running from pillar to post to be a governorship candidate. Leave Tinubu out of this, he and his candidate already lost.

Is it only Oke that is complaining?
Why dont you also tell Boroffice and Abraham too to leave?

      • Ajayi Ifayemi

Because Oke is the one talking about leaving. The others you mentioned say they are not going anywhere. Nothing personal with Oke, I just don’t like political prostitutes.

  • Abdulkadir

This man’s stance has betrayed his hidden self affliction with ego. To him only an election won by him is free and fair, the same attitude that made PDP what they have become today. This man is no use to the people of Ondo state. Like Faleke, Oni is just a stooge who will do the bidding of his benefactor. People like this should be made to understand that APC gives equal chances to all, irrespective of affiliations.

Dangote, El-Rufai, Sanusi and Alhaji Buhari are working hard to sell Nigeria to themselves, using Dangote as the drum beater and the new head of economic team.
The game – use Saraki to hatch the NASS authority to sell, so that he can get soft landing and also have his share from his business partner Sanusi.
Unfortunately, the essence is for the North West actors to buy Nigeria and deliver the shell for restructuring. That way, the rest of the Country can sort themselves whilst feeding the North West.
Dangote currently Load over 95% of Low Pour Fuel Oil from which ever Refinery that produces. For Warri and Port Harcout, his Ships are loaded with about 90% of available stock, then the next 5% is allocated to companies he uses as front to supply his Ashaka Cement. The rest 5% is left for the rest of Nigeria.
That will be childs play if he buys everything.

    Nigeria politicians

  • What a bunch of primitive political jobbers that have brought shame to our Nation and our democracy. To them it’s do or die. If they can’t get the votes, nobody will. The shameless buffoons that are a disgrace to humanity. Nigerian politics is a 24/7, 12 months a year business. The politicians kill each other to get elected. The US presidential primaries are over. Nobody is appealing the primary elections. We’ll all go to the polls in a few months to elect a new US president. In Nigeria, the winner of the presidential elections is yet to move on from the campaign mode and get to people’s business, so much so the nation is in economic recession. God, what have we done wrong to deserve this curse?

    • Omo Akin

Did you care to find out the reason the contestants are protesting? In the USA you quoted, the electoral umpires and the candidates play by the rule. Less than 3,000 delegates were to vote and the delegates’ list given to the contestants by the National Executive of the party on Wednesday was different from the list released on Friday night by 10.30pm. The accreditation was done at 3 different locations miles away from the voting center; why this anomaly? It is now known that the National Organizing Secretary of the party (who is also a member of the NEC as well as the NWC) was the arrowhead of switching the delegates’ list. So when a small exercise like election involving less than 3,000 is so shamefully compromised, you want the contestants to just roll over?
The real culprits are the election riggers. In any case, APC will loose the election. What is called EEdi in Yoruba is what is working against APC.

      • We are on the same page. Why all these nonsense to get elected?. Why can’t we have straightforward elections?. Why must we screwed up everthing?. Even when elections are over, endless litigation start with conflicting injunctions from the courts. Even the president is stucked in elections mode Constantly blaming the elections losers. Why?

Do we have corrupt people in APC, even referring to National Chairman? Do they do corrupt things? I thought they fall from sky, not heaven where the Almighty God dwells.

  • Dr Pat Kolawole Awosan

Ondo State,APC,lacks democratic stature and with the present display of disunity after the result of the APC-primary election had been announced. If APC continue with this current trend of self-destruction within APC would completely obtain defeat in the upcoming gubernatorial election in November,2016.
