Sallah: Nigeria Railway Corp suspends Abuja-Kaduna train service

Abuja rail train

The Nigerian Railways Corporation (NRC) has suspended its passenger train service from Abuja to Kaduna on Monday and Tuesday because of the Eid el-Kabir public holidays.

Yakub Mahmood, the Deputy Director, Public Relations of the NRC, made this known in Lagos on Saturday.

Mr. Mahmood said the period would also be used to carry out comprehensive maintenance of the train.

He assured passengers that the Abuja-Kaduna train service would resume on Wednesday.

“The corporation highly regrets any inconvenience this may cause our esteemed passengers,” he said.

The Abuja-Kaduna passengers train was inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari in July.

It connects Idu in Abuja to Rigasa in Kaduna. (NAN)

The Paid Hail Hitlers of Bingo Buhari speaketh yours is to obey his command——————–Buhari is killing the rail services again——-Bingo–Buhari will always remain a 419ner——with his destructive spirit–that is why anything he touches with his leprosy Fulani fingers —————never works———————aware——-this is the period for the rail–services to operate—-for the masses——————-but for where in Nigeria————-re–commissioning projects that Jonathan had already flagged off——is a sin—against the spirit of even their Allah—operating in the Fulani emirate—————————-Amaechi having killed the rail project from Calabar to Lagos——————thinks that of the Fulanis can be made to work———————-for them—–Na lie

      • Rommel

If you are truthful, you would remember that when asked why they bought dysfunctional fairly used trains when they could have gone for new ones, then Jonathan spokesman Doyin Okupe asked the reporters if it was not human beings that were using it from where they bought from, you can see from the photo what your Jonathan bought but what PMB and Amaechi commissioned, were they fairly used trains? Amechi brought in some mint trains so Jonathan was a criminal

  • vagabonds in power

The RAIL project was initiated by Jonathan to HELP alleviate the sufferings of the commoners————–now them tell us the usual lies that it was Buhari who built it-to help ship cowsh from kaduna to abuja——————–Haba Nigeria

(In less than one month of commissioning the electronic information board no

longer functions, no proper security mechanism, lack of coordination and

poor management of Staff and passengers.) Us this the end of the rail services in Nigeria again under this same Buhari?

    • Du Covenant

While I have no problem with technical glitches when any new project is newly commissioned, if we change our attitude and adopt a serious maintenance culture things will improve. My grouse with your position and of the so called journalist who originally the statement is, why should we always be controlled or managed?. What is wrong with us a black people that we cannot be orderly anywhere we find ourselves?. Whether it is boarding a plane, taxis, buses from point A to B, in the post office or at the cashier?.What is wrong with us?, everything must be chaotic otherwise it is not Nigeria.

If this man really know his Job he would have solicited for
some of the jets under Aso Rock to be placed on that rout,
a good servant must always make plans for an alternative means
of serving the public better. since the FG can still maintain those
jets, it would be used to fly the citizens on the same price the Train would
collect instead of shutting down the line in the name maintenance.
pure wickedness, some people just dont like when things are working
well in Nigeria because it will affect their evil ways of making money
and that is why things has remained this way.. attitudinal change is what
we need as a country to be able to make progress. leaving people to
their fate will always create more problems…

    • Commentsfile..!!!

mind you, putting jets on the route is an exaggeration..
but you know what I mean rather..

    • Tunji Olarewaju

  • favourtalk

That is good one, it is better for the trains to be in good conditions for future use, nice one

The world over, public holidays are used to maintain public utilities such as rail, bus service, and airlines. This stop service is for sallah day and the day after, just as it is done in developed economies, when services in the rail, and air sector is shut on Christmas and Boxing Day. If not totally shut, such services are run on skeletal service to allow maintenance.
I comment the NRC for being service conscious and choosing this time, while we look forward to better service. Critics should see reason and think reasonably.

How many developed countries have you been to that shut down key transportation services during a holiday when people tend to travel more? Lagos is not a developed country, you know.

      • Mama Kay

I can tell you that in the UK, rail services and London Underground systems shut down for maintenance during holidays. In fact, some lines shut down at the weekend. It’s called off peak period to make sure maintenance work can be carried out.

        • A Aminu

Thank you for coming to my rescue. Some of these boys comment out of ignorance, and you cannot tell who or what manner of discussant is at the other end of the line. I know for sure British rail, and London Underground is shut for maintenance at Christmas and Boxing Day.

      • A Aminu

Are you doubting the fact that rail services are shut on public holidays in U K? Pls let us not confuse closure on public holiday and before the holiday. People tend to travel before and not on the D day of the festival. We are also talking of Abuja-Kaduna rail service. What brings issue of Lagos.

Another mumu Paid Hail Hitler of Bingo Buhari–Very senseless in his comments——————-Give me one country as an example in the globe that does the rubbish u posted—————May the Good Lord make u suffer the same untold hardship that the commuters will suffer following the closure of the rail services——————Why dont u ask the federal government to close the airports–and Sea ports because of the Fulani Islamic public holiday———-I have friends who live in Europe and America—–They are yet to experience–such disruption of services—–as explained by your empty head——-in your post——–As a matter of fact in certain countries in Europe such as Switzerland–for train services to stop for a day means the end of that government————————–according them some bus services operate till 2am———–on weekends———————-Buhari should get the hell out of aso rock—-fast———with the thieves around him like Amaechi——————taking credit for someone else good work is evil–The man is killing the rail services that Jonathan built—————–iwth his evil hand———–again——————animal

      • A Aminu

You don’t have to resort to abusive language to make a point. Use superior arguments please and not fowl language especially to people you do not know. I disagree with you that rail services are not shut down for maintenance on Christmas days, Boxing Day, or New Year’s Day. If you have friends who live in Europe, and tells you it is not so, I doubt their information to you. Cross check, and refrain from insulting people on the net, it does you no good.

        • ken

Thanks Aminu. We still have rational guys like u from the North. There is need for insults.

  • Higgi hagga

I don’t know why people are commending PMB for over the commissioning of the Abuja-Kaduna rail line. That is why the project just packed up hours after Buhari touched it. That project was never stalled at any point in time even after GEJ left office. The contract was well spelt out that financing of the project was never an issue even after the padded budget higgi hagga of Buhari. I bet you, Buhari did not contribute one naira to d completion of that project. Where could he have gotten the money from? Is it from the 2016 budget that was signed in March? Believe it or not, Goodluck Jonathan is the best thing that has ever happened to the northern part of Nigeria as whole. He gave them the best and they in return pulled him down to satisfy their own selfish regional desires-It is a shame that in his attempt to take credit from Jonathan Buhari hurriedly recommissioned the project again———–All these ongoing confusion were set by Amaechi to enable him steal money again–Soon You will hear about the trillion of Niara the Ministry of transport spent to repair the rail-lines and coaches—-he imported from the USA and Japan—Sai Goodluck!!

    • Eluba Inas

Jonathan was a catastrophic failure that happened to Nigeria. We thank God for helping us got rid of that rubbish. If you are in doubt check with the people from NE, under his watch genocide was committed by BH. Under his watch corruption was taken to the skies. I can go on, but you get the gist if you have any common sense.
