Hajj 2016: Saudi Arabia threatens to prosecute Nigerian pilgrims, others who disobey rules

The Saudi Arabian government has said that any pilgrim who violates the schedule put in place for the stoning of the devil ritual at Jamarat will be arrested and prosecuted.

The government is putting measures to avoid the kind of stampede that happened last year at Mina, which led to the death of over 2000 pilgrims. The Nigerian government later confirmed that at least 145 of the victims were Nigerians.

In a meeting with officials of Nigeria and other African countries in Mina on Monday, the Saudi Arabia Hajj Ministry representative, Sheikh Mohammed, said arrangements have been concluded to assign guides who will lead a group of 250 pilgrims at a time to the Jamarat and back.

” Any Pilgrim seen alone in Jamarat will be arrested and will face he highest punishment,” the Saudi official said.

He also said each group will not be led by a Saudi guide alone, but, that states would also nominate a guide for each group.

The official, who spoke through an official of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, Aliyu Tanko, as interpreter, said the government is adopting the kind of schedule used for airlines at the airport.

” No flight arrives or departs the Airport until it’s rime is due, we intend to apply the same procedure for Jamarat,” he said.

Mr. Mohammed also said apart from the arrest and prosecution of any violating pilgrim, state officials responsible for the pilgrim would also face sanction.

“Take this schedule and timing as serious as the time for prayers,” he said.

Mr. Mohammed said records of all groupings would be taken at the departure from tents and back. He said guides will be held responsible if they fail to return with the exact number of pilgrims they take to the Jamarat for the stoning ritual.

He also said pilgrims must only go with their assigned batch and time.

Nobody should be arrested and prosecuted for not stoning the evil one properly. What matters is to stone him hard where it hurts most. If the faithfuls are grouped in batches of 251 or so, that will be orderly and predictable, that way the devil will see them easily and dodge the stones and pellets. It is better to allow loose groups and rowdy crowds to storm the devil in larger groups with force and hit him hard.

We are tired of seeing pilgrims go there every year to stone Shaitan lightly and he survives and continues to wreck havoc on Muslims thereafter.

I wonder how much Saudi Arabia charges for each stone? Hnmmm….I thought I saw several devils vacationing at the National Assembly in Abuja. Wonder how many stones I need to start my own Jamarat?

      • Imani S Latif

Stones are free. You collect them as you go about your business on each day. Does that answer your question??

        • tony H

Thanks. How many do you need to stone the devils in the National Assembly?

  • emmanuel

Saudi people dey scam the unwise of the earth with Islam and stoning the devil. Cheap stuff for development of their country. If you like, arrest all Nigerian pilgrims, they are there to either enjoy Government free money, push drugs, do prostitution, trade or stack away stolen monies.
The earlier you jail them for us, the better!

    • Imani S Latif

There is no color or nationality in Islam. STFU.

  • Rommel

What type of religion is this? isn’t it time for the civilized world to take a second look at this religion and understand why it exists because like viruses and other microbes, it is not for the good of humanity

    • bashwaz

What is this sick moron saying?

      • Rommel

What is sickening about what I asked or are you planning jihad against me? is that Mecca thing not supposed to be a religious duty? what then are the police doing threatening Nigerian citizens or do you think I shouldn’t care? they are Nigerians before belonging to any religion and for me,all diplomatic courtesies must be extended to Nigerians as done in civilized environments, the Saudi authorities should have sent a high ranking religious person to tell them what this policeman is telling them instead of this humiliating picture,it is irritating to me. I am aware that the Arabs have no respect or regard for black people despite the constant rhetorics,no book can contain records on their wickedness and mistreatment of blacks people for centuries and left to me,no reasonable black person should be a Muslim.

        • Alhaji

They will not like the truth you are telling them. Arabmohamavirus has destroyed their brains to reason.

        • Imani S Latif

Neither do you “Rommel”. Sickening Nazi. You don’t care about Black people, so don’t make yourself look more dumb than you already do.

          • Rommel

Islam has never been useful to Africa,it brought only hardship and slavery,as a matter of fact, pilgrimage to Mecca crippled Mali empire under Mansa Musa and impoverished the citizens of west Africa till today, that singular misadventure brought in economic leeches from all over in droves who heard the story of the gold the man was wasting in middle east and then the result is what we see today.

        • bashwaz

This reply just confirmed what I said earlier …..
This comment is coming from a “SICK MORON!!!

          • Rommel

Well if your reasoning functions properly in a positive way,you would have at least attempted to give me reasons why I should see things differently but because religion comes in between us always,it becomes unfortunate that we can call ourselves Nigerians, what unites us as Nigerians? your loyalty is to your religion,Saudi Arabia before Nigeria while mine is to my country so how can we agree?

    • zygote

Yu had a pastor yesterday raping young kids in the of Daddy as a general overseer, for that reason should the civilized world take a look at Christianity? Please, shut up if you have nothing to say it is more honorable.

    • abu nusaybah

Its funny rommel Is just trying to be a celebrity with his comments
Akhis pls leave the ignorant let him continue ranting

  • Netanyahu

Please search the dirtiest ones for drugs very well. They are the drug warehouse that you fail to thoroughly search due to their decorated filth. They have been doing this over the years. That is why when they return from hajj, all alhajas become stupendously rich. When our people, in the interest of “one Nigeria”, wanted to join them, they banned drug smuggling. Not fair at all.

  • zygote

What kind of news is this? Of course, if you violate any law in any country you will be prosecuted, so why is this a news?

    • Otile

You don’t understand. Our pilgrims there are not fighting the ordinary battle, this is a battle of the evil spirit. Do you think it is easy to fight Shaitan in a frontal attack like this? What our courageous pilgrims are doing is like: the Devil is sleeping trouble dey wekam.

    • Imani S Latif

It’s not really a law. It’s a change in plans to accommodate the millions of Muslims who are performing Hajj. I went last year and this rule was not in place.
