Ebonyi Governor’s brother, two others arrested over N400million campaign fund

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday arrested one Austin Umahi, brother to the current governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, along with two others – Chinyere Egwuche and Mabel Dikibo – over a N400million slush fund linked to the 2015 presidential campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The suspects, all staff of Brass Engineering & Construction Nigeria Limited and Osborn La-Palm Royal Resort, were arrested for refusing to honour invitations by the EFCC over an ongoing investigation of both companies.

While Austin Umahi doubles as chairman of both companies, Chinyere Egwuche and Marbel Dikibo are also signatories to the companies’ accounts.

EFCC investigators alleged that the Director of Finance of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Nenadi Usman released N400million to the Ebonyi State chapter of the PDP for the 2015 presidential election.

The said fund, the investigators said, was moved from Fidelity Bank Abakaliki on March 27, 2015, to an Access Bank, Abakaliki, account, where one Maxwell Umahi further moved N100, 000,000 and N300, 000,000 respectively into the accounts of Brass Engineering & Construction Nigeria Limited and Osborn La-Palm Royal Resort respectively.

One of the suspects, Chinyere Egwuche, subsequently withdrew the N300 million paid into the account of Osborn La-Palm, which according to her was used to finance  the construction of Osborn La-Palm Hotels in Abakaliki, Uburu and Port Harcourt, while the N100 million paid into the account of Brass Engineering and Construction Nigeria Limited was transferred to a certain David Umahi Faith Foundation.

Although investigation is still ongoing, EFCC operatives said the companies to which the funds were transferred were traced to the Ebonyi State governor.

  • .Why Break-up is Necessary

.Below are the benefits we all will derive from break up of Nigeria.
    ….
    1. TERRORISM
There will be no more association with terrorism. The collective tag of terrorism will now be on only one country – Northernstani Republic

    2. PROSPERITY
Prosperity, accelerated development with no hindrances whatsoever. The laggards will be in their own country, subject to their own laws – religious, extremist or whatever. But never again will they have to impede development of other peoples/nations.

    3. PEACE
Peace, peace and peace shall rain. Church bombings will never occur again. Pre determined Mosque bombings that never kill the rich except the poor will be a thing of the past

    4. EQUAL STANDARDS
The constitutions of emergent nations will include prescription of minimum education for presidential candidates to bar the unintelligent illiterates and academic inferiors from becoming president. High and equal standards will apply to all citizens – same cut off marks for admission to schools shall apply to all citizens irrespective of your ethnicity or religion.

    5. FAIRNESS
People will be elevated to positions of authority according to their level of competence and not level of influence in a forest.

    6. HUMAN RIGHTS
Human rights will be respected. No peaceful protesters will be shot and killed.

    7. CORRUPTION
Corruption will be a thing of the past. Even when it occurs there shall be no blanket immunity to any ethnic group or persons or past friends of politicians.

    8. PROBITY
Any persons or group of persons associated with terrorism or who have made inflammatory threats in time past or supported terror by way of utterances or otherwise, shall be barred from seeking public office, and prosecuted like ex-President of Egypt

    9. FREEDOM
There shall be freedom of speech and association. People shall be free to name their Dogs without inhibition

    10. SELF RELIANCE/SELF PRIDE
There shall be self reliance and confidence in the ability from within and not the omnipresent overly dependence on, and/or looking up to imperialist nations for direction.

    11. NEPOTISM
    Nepotism shall be gone forever.

    12. INNOVATION, SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
Countries averse to scientific innovation and reasoning due to blind addiction and allegiance to religious prescription shall no longer retard the synergy in this direction.

    • Warning

It is our candid opinion that corruption is not found in only one party. No political party in Nigeria has a monopoly of looters. That is why we need an EFCC that is thoroughly independent of the presidency, and an Attorney General without party affiliation working in partnership with various independent accounting institutes. This will ensure that we come up with an objective list of those who plundered our treasury.

Corruption na family business for Nigeria.

  • Political Steve

EFCC please include Ameachi and Fashola in your list. Investigate how the duo got the money they used to sponsor Buhari’s election campaign. In addition to that, Tinubu and the so-called Minister of Interior have stolen more than any other corrupt politician. The EFCC is an apron string of the ruling party, APC, thus, it has to remove the speck in it’s eyes before stretching forth its hand to remove the specks from others. The corruption crusade has been abused & rubbished. EFCC is now the weapon the presidency used to chastise their opponent. Too bad for our democracy.

Nigerians are wondering why Buhari has refused to act on the evidence based corruption charges against his Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Yusuf Buratai. And with Sahara Reporters Expo on the current Interior Minister, Abdulrahman Dambazau, Nigerians are perplexed that President Buhari is still silent and not saying anything. But what do Nigerians expect from someone who told the world that General Sanni Abacha stole no money belonging to the country in spite of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary?

What makes Nigerians believe that if evidence did not matter in General Abacha’s case, why should it matter in General Buratai’s case? Why should evidence matter in General Dambazau’s case? Did Nigerians forget so soon how Buhari allowed retired Vice Admiral Murtala Nyako who stole the commonwealth of Adamawa State dry not to be detained? Are they surprised that the case has since receded into the background?

But for someone under whose nose $2,8 billion disappeared when he was Petroleum Minister in 1978, this ought not to be too strange. For someone who fails to account for the 100 Billion naira Petroleum Trust Fund that he presided over under the same Abacha, this should not be strange. For someone who led Nigerians in a lie that he did not have a house in Abuja when the contrary is true, why should this be news?

When you hear the APC tell you that the 16 years of PDP government is the cause of all our woes today, Or Parade PDP member over their so-called Campaign Funds–or the fake Dasuki arms Purchase scandal, it is not the PDP they want you to blame, it is not even Obasanjo who ruled for 8 solid years and is now the APC navigator-in-chief. And who introduced the Ghan Must go Bag-politic into the House and Senate- it is Jonathan who was in power just for 5 years the Fulanis, Yorubas and their Ibo surrogates in APC want to incite you Nigerians against.

If you don’t believe me, ask yourself how come over 70% of all those holding public offices under APC today are ex-members of the PDP? Have we been told how much Amaechi——–Fashola and Tinubu contributed to the election of Buhar? Check all the ministers, governors, NASS members etc, over 70% of them left the PDP and were welcomed into the APC with an open arm and handed a baptism which washed away their sins and turned them to saints.

If the APC strongly believes the PDP destroyed Nigeria, why welcome the same people into their party? Does this make any sense? Or is it just the acronym “PDP” that is the problem? Their target is Ijaw man GEJ.

If not hate, why would anyone claim that Jonathan ran the most corrupt government in Nigeria history ? Which of the political partieius did not spend a dime from the Purse of the Rivers–Edo state–or the LOBO states in the south west’ ‘ These Apes in APC think we all have amnesia abi?? So if we keep quiet so as not to be accused of being paid by Jonathan or the PDP, these children of ‘Liar Mohammed’ will just alter history before our very eyes? So we have suddenly forgotten Abacha so soon?? Have we forgotten that all the monies Dasuki is accused of sharing is not up to half of the very first set of stolen money recovered as Abacha loot, the same Abacha-thieving-government their mini god;Bingo Buhari not only served under but vehemently defended and even swore by the seven gods that he didn’t steal a dime. This is even as billions of dollars (not naira) of the loot has continued to be returned to Nigeria from Switzerland.——————————————-

  • CROCODILE TEARS launched

    __Breaking!!!
Niger Delta militant launch OPERATION Crocodile TEARS to counter the Operation Crocodile Smiles of the Nigerian Army. They have therefore blown up yet another flow station as a sign of seriousness. The Greenland Movement has also advised all oil workers in all oil companies and all the refineries in the Niger Delta to evacuate immediately. According to them, it will now be an eye for an eye with the Nigerian military.

It is amazing that paid commentators have left the core issue in this report and delved into irrelevancies. In a clear case of criminal diversion of public funds which is still on going by the Governor of Ebonyi State and his family, paid commentators are talking about APC, Obasanjo and selective probe. Shame to you people.

  • favourtalk

They should be prosecuted well and make sure that they return our money

  • mazembe

Sounds like encouraging news to those of us that love the truth. Unfortunately, this will be the last time you will read about the case. As usual they will be “grilled” for three hours by EFCC, and then case closed. EFCC is a toothless bull dog. Very sad for Nigeria. And buhari just sits on the sidelines watching the EFCC show, if at all he cares to watch. He has forgotten that he is commander in chief, and thinks he is only petroleum minister.
