Buhari drags Nigeria into Saudi-led Islamic coalition against terrorism

Muhammadu Buhari in an Aljazeera Interview
Muhammadu Buhari in an Aljazeera Interview

Nigeria will join the Saudi Arabia led coalition of Muslim countries against terrorism, President Muhammadu Buhari has said.

Mr. Buhari stated this in an interview with Aljazeera Television.

“We are part of it because we have got terrorists in Nigeria that everybody knows which claims that they are Islamic,” the Nigerian president said in reference to Boko Haram, the group whose activities has caused the death of about 20,000 people since 2009.

Mr. Buhari’s decision to push Nigeria into the coalition announced by Saudi Arabia last December appears to have been taken after a meeting with Saudi King, Salman Bin Abdul-Aziz.

According to a statement by his spokesperson on February 23, the Nigerian leader had expressed reluctance to join the coalition when he met the Saudi king.

“Even if we are not a part of it, we support you,” he was quoted to have said at the meeting held in Saudi Arabia in February.

The Aljazeera interview is believed to have been held in Qatar, where Mr. Buhari visited after his trip to Saudi Arabia.

Many analysts have described the coalition as Saudi Arabia’s way of challenging Iran’s growing influence in global Islamic affairs.

Saudi Arabia is home to mainly Sunni Muslims while Iran is the base of Shia Muslims worldwide.

Most Muslims in Nigeria are Sunni and the country’s military recently attacked a Shia procession, killing hundreds, according to Human Rights Watch, after the military claimed they planned to assassinate Army chief, Tukur Buratai.

“We must not let Sunni and Shiite states furtively and covertly turn Nigeria into another Middle East battleground,” Adeolu Ademoyo, a Nigerian lecturer at Cornell University said, in opposition to the coalition.

The decision to join the Islamic coalition also goes against the calls by many Nigerians who asked that the country not join the coalition.

The Christian Association of Nigeria had in December cautioned against joining the 34-member coalition, called ISMAT.

“This singular gesture of the Buhari government betrays so much, and tends to confirm our fears that underneath everything this government is doing, there is an agenda with strong Islamic undertones, aimed at undermining Nigeria’s pluralistic character and neutrality regarding government’s affiliation to any one religion,” Vanguard Newspapers quoted the coalition of Nigerian Churches as saying in a statement by its General Secretary, Musa Asake.

PREMIUM TIMES had also warned against joining the coalition. In an editorial published in January, this newspaper stated that “Nigeria should not join ISMAT, created specifically under pressure to fight ISIS.”

“The national interests of Saudi Arabia are not Nigeria’s national interests. On the sound and legitimate issue of fighting terrorism locally, regionally and globally, Saudi Arabia has shown that her interests come first before any commitment to fight terrorism.”

However, defending his decision, Mr. Buhari told his interviewer that, “If there is an Islamic coalition to fight terrorism, Nigeria will be part of it because we are casualties of Islamic terrorism.”

When asked how the coalition would work in Nigeria’s interest, the president said it would be within the framework of Lake Chad basin coalition against Boko Haram which comprises of Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameroon, and Benin.

“I don’t think we need to tell the press the details of that,” he said, in relation to the number of troops to be deployed by the Lake Chad coalition that would be part of the Saudi-led coalition.

When asked whether or not his decision would go well with Nigerian Christians who make up about half of the country’s population, Mr. Buhari said, “I have just told you it is the Boko Haram itself that declared loyalty to ISIS. Now, ISIS is basically based in Islamic countries. If there is a coalition to fight terrorism, why can’t Nigeria be part of it.”

“Why can’t those Christians that complain go and fight terrorism in Nigeria or fight the militants in the South. It is Nigeria that matters, not the opinions of some religious bigots,” he added.

The Nigerian leader denied seeking to change Nigeria’s multi-religious nature by his actions, saying, “How can I change the religious identity of Nigeria?”

  • RestructureNigeria

PROMISE YOURSELF & LOVED ONES PEACE. SUPPORT THE RESTRUCTURING OF NIGERIA ACCORDING TO THE 2014 NATIONAL CONFERENCE…..

    REMEMBER…..

As long the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will be for the most part be regarded as a peace-loving minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. Although there WILL be Islamic attacks..

    United States — Muslim 0.6%

    Australia — Muslim 1.5%

    Canada — Muslim 1.9%

    China — Muslim 1.8%

    Italy — Muslim 1.5%

    Norway — Muslim 1.8%

At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs. There will be MORE attacks at this level

    This is happening in:

    Denmark — Muslim 2%

    Germany — Muslim 3.7%

    United Kingdom — Muslim 2.7%

    Spain — Muslim 4%

    Thailand — Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature halal on their shelves — along with threats for failure to comply. There will now be a level of fear from the natural population towards muslims This is occurring in:

    France — Muslim 8%

    Philippines — 5%

    Sweden — Muslim 5%

    Switzerland — Muslim 4.3%

    The Netherlands — Muslim 5.5%

    Trinidad & Tobago — Muslim 5.8%

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islamists is to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims approach 10% of the population, they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. In Paris , we are already seeing car-burnings. Any non-Muslim action offends Islam, and results in uprisings and threats, such as in Amsterdam , with opposition to Mohammed cartoons and films about Islam. Such tensions are seen daily, particularly in Muslim sections, in: Almost DAILY attacks in this range

    Guyana — Muslim 10%

    India — Muslim 13.4%

    Israel — Muslim 16%

    Kenya — Muslim 10%

    Russia — Muslim 15%

After reaching 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burnings of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues, such as in:

    Ethiopia — Muslim 32.8%

At 40%, nations experience widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare, such as in:

    Bosnia — Muslim 40%

    NIGERIA– Muslim 42.8%

    Chad — Muslim 53.1%

    Lebanon — Muslim 59.7%

From 60%, nations experience unfettered persecution of non-believers of all other religions (including non-conforming Muslims), sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon, and ***ya, the tax placed on infidels, such as in:

    Albania — Muslim 70%

    Malaysia — Muslim 60.4%

    Qatar — Muslim 77.5%

    Sudan — Muslim 70%

After 80%, expect daily intimidation and violent jihad, some State-run ethnic cleansing, and even some genocide, as these nations drive out the infidels, and move toward 100% Muslim, such as has been experienced and in some ways is on-going in:

    Bangladesh — Muslim 83%

    Egypt — Muslim 90%

    Gaza — Muslim 98.7%

    Indonesia — Muslim 86.1%

    Iran — Muslim 98%

    Iraq — Muslim 97%

    Jordan — Muslim 92%

    Morocco — Muslim 98.7%

    Pakistan — Muslim 97%

    Palestine — Muslim 99%

    Syria — Muslim 90%

    Tajikistan — Muslim 90%

    Turkey — Muslim 99.8%

United Arab Emirates — Muslim 96%

100% will usher in the peace of ‘Dar-es-Salaam’ — the Islamic House of Peace. Here there’s supposed to be peace, because everybody is a Muslim, the Madrasas are the only schools, and the Koran is the only word, such as in:

    Afghanistan — Muslim 100%

    Saudi Arabia — Muslim 100%

    Somalia — Muslim 100%

    Yemen — Muslim 100%

Unfortunately, peace is never achieved, as in these 100% states the most radical Muslims intimidate and spew hatred, and satisfy their blood lust by killing less radical Muslims, for a variety of reasons. Then you have BOKO HARAM, ISIS..Islam with a hall pass!!!

IF WHATEVER COLLISION WILL PUT AN END TO WANTON DESTRUCTION OF LIVES AND PROPERTIES IN THE COUNTRY, SO BE IT.

    • TrueNja

Any coalition based on religion can’t work in Nigeria. ISMAT is Islamic coalition,, we Nigerians reject it entirely

      • Paul Graham

The collision’s main objective is to fight terrorism that has claimed thousands of lives and has continued in the muslim dominated Northern States of Nigeria. In times of pain and anguish we need helping hands and soothing balms, anyone against help to put an end to terrorism should volunteer to fight the insurgents or simply keep the peace. I believe Nigeria is a member of IOC and that till date has not changed Nigeria from being a secular State to a muslim Country. Why are we crying wolf where there’s none!

        • TrueNja

Northern elites Muslims created and financed Boko Haram to eradicate Christians minority in the North and to make Nigeria ungovernable for a Christian president. At the start of Boko Haram formation, this President Muhammadu Buhair sided with Boko Haram.

          • Paul Graham

Tell me how many of the kidnapped Chibok girls are Christians!

          • TrueNja

Over 90% of kidnapped girls were Christians

          • Paul Graham

Northern christians or Southern christians? Chibok is not in Anambra State. Why did your Christian President not save christian sisters? Under his watch funds to save the christian sisters were diverted and some allegedly stolen!

          • NoSpinEd

All of them. That is why they were forced to convert to Islam. You might want to read up on them again.

        • MilitaryPolice01

Why are you finding it hard to understand that the so called coalition is a smokescreen,it is a platform through which the interests of Saudi Arabia is propagated against shia Countries like Iran, Syria, Lebanon etc or have you not wondered why no shia muslim country are members of the islamist group.Put on your thinking cap and reason for yourself, must we join a coalition to make advances against boko haram, can Saudi Arabia not help us without us joining there coalition, did France force Mali to join a Christian coalition before intervening to save the country from collapse two years ago…abbbeeegggiiii

          • Paul Graham

Maybe one of the conditions is membership. They will give you funds and maybe arms. No boots on the ground!

          • Chukwuka Okoroafor

And you know that Iran and Syria were excluded from this coalition right? Also, there is talk of Saudi Arabia invading Syria to overthrow Assad. Would Nigeria take part in that too?

          • Paul Graham

The problem in Syria is a full blown war. The global powers are actively involved. Our discussion is on terrorism which is deferent and most unfortunately the battle ground is in Northern Nigeria.

          • Chukwuka Okoroafor

But Syria still has a government that could have been brought in. Iran also. If this coalition morphs into a force that has to invade Syria, will Nigeria be involved is my question.

        • Abdul

So what are your other options?

People are just looking for flimsy excuses to giving this man (PMB) a bad name, but it would certainly not work out for them. Pls could someone with sane mind, tell me what is wrong in joining forces to fight this evil in whatever way or means necessary? If he (PMB) fails to join them, then he’s among the people sponsoring boko haram, if he then supports, of course ‘he wants to Islamize Nigeria,’ this is just selfishly childish, and must be put to a stop by people who wish this country better, or else we would all be doomed….

      • Sean

        Thanks for your objectivity

      • MilitaryPolice01

Do you know that Wahhabi Saudi Arabia is the major proponent and sponsor of ISIS and their murderous ideology, and do you know that Boko haram is now affiliated to ISIS?Why should Nigeria join a terrorist organisation that has a deceptive agenda against Iran and others. When will you people leave sentiments aside and think for yourselves, and please change your name, a person with the name John wouldnt submit such a comment tufiakwa

      • ed

Look in the mirror you’ll see one of the real enemy of Nigeria. The write up were right on the money.
Nigeria is not a Muslim country.
You’re free to create you own northern Muslim Country but count the south out.

      • TrueNja

Jihadist John, any coalition with Islamic undertone is not acceptable in Nigeria.

      • Chukwuka Okoroafor

Have you ever heard of the concept of causing a problem and then proposing a solution? It is a strategy elites use to gain more power. Senator Yerima did this in Zamfara. He looted the treasury under Abacha thus contributing to the insecurity problem ultimately in Zamfara and then imposed Sharia as the solution while gaining more mileage for the Sharia agenda for Nigeria. This makes sense to me.

    • Iskacountryman

it was a precondition for a soft loan to nigeria…

  • Abdul

This is one silly write up so far, i bet some media houses want this boko haram thing to continue so they can continue to write stories about bomb blast and killings. It is annoying to turn fight against terrorism to religious attack. WHAT IS THE MEANING OF BUHARI A NORTHERN MUSLIM? does boko haram differentiate between northern Muslim and southern Christian? Some of this write ups gets on my nerves sometime. NOW THAT THE NATION IS BECOMING SECURE, SOME NEVER DO WELL RELIGIOUS BIGOTS ARE NOT HAPPY. Shame on anyone that wants to take us to the era when the fear of BH is the beginning of wisdom.

    • Sean

      Gbam!

    • MilitaryPolice01

How is the write up silly?Has Nigeria been dragged into ISMAT or not?Why have you deliberately dodged the major point been made by the article and jumped into a merry go round about boko haram and northern muslim? This article is talking about a secular and pluralistic Nigeria being railroaded into an islamist organisation with selfish purposes.Address the core issue and leave the sentiments you are tying to wipe up

      • Abdul

which Islamic organisation are you really talking about? ISMAT, what is that by the way? is it an organisation or a military set up to combat terrorism?

        • MilitaryPolice01

who dash them military, ISMAT is an islamist terrorist sunni wahhabi organisation set up by the shameless and diabolic sponsors of isis to gather countries of the willing to enlist in fighting Iran and other countries

    • TrueNja

You Muslims in the North started and sponsored Boko Haram against Christians minority in the North because of your hidden agenda. People like you and Muhammadu buhari are the religious bigots.

    • Prophet

A lot of the folks lamenting against joining an organization to fight fight terrorism have absolutely no idea of what they are talking about.

If they explore their positions intelligently, they will cease their rubbish immediately as their current stand is tantamount to the principles of Boko Haram!

Islamic religious leaders should preach to Boko haram and convert Boko haram to good Muslims. Nigeria is not an Islamic nation. Buhari should try to be neutral in dealing with issues that concern Nigeria, otherwise he will end up causing another bigger problem than Boko Haram, from no where. Buhari is very selfish and too archaic, he is only taking Nigeria backwards, he is not securing any Nigeria, things are worst since he came in, his fight against corruption is simply intimidation and manipulation of innocent Nigerians. EFCC is spending too much and more to recover less, wasting Nigerian money on useless cases that will surely back fire at the end. Our Economy is moving backwards, kidnapping is increasing, killing of innocent increasing, criminal activities increasing, national earning is decreasing, prosperity is decreasing

President Buhari is changing Nigeria to a colony of Saudi Arabia. That is part of his over all goal of extending sharia law to cover the whole country.
Unfortunately the middle belt, the Christian, the Yoruba’s, the Igbo’s, the south south are all too busy to notice where the bus driver is taking them.
The president should simply separate the Hausa/ Fulani’s Muslim in the armed forces and use them to fight the religious tribalistic war. Championed by Saudi Arabia.
The beginning of the end of Lugard Nigeria maybe at hand.

While Buhari gets busy aligning Nigeria with the Arab world….

    Muhamadu Buhari may destroy Nigeria

Muhamadu Buhari may destroy Nigeria for lack of knowledge.
He said here in terms that education is not a priority for a poor country aspiring to develop.
That’s the effect of Buhari trebling tuition fees of Nigerians studying in Ghana at black market rate.
The coalescing students against this policy will let hell loose soon. Some of them have been evicted
from boarding houses and denied feeding. Some as young as 16 took up menial jobs as street sweepers
in their host countries, just to part-pay their tuition fees, so as not to be deterred from attending classes.

No responsible president should throw serious-minded students to the dogs. The impression created is that APC
wants to create an illiterate society it can dominate or otherwise discourage western education by hiking tuition fees,
so as to supplant western teachings with Islamic education. Either way the battle line is drawn. Those forced to school in Ghana, London and Egypt are casualties of official thefts by states and federal government officials. The effect of their
banditry is that there are too few schools with qualitative facilities left in Nigeria. What Buhari has done now is to put
a nail on the coffin of millions of Nigerian students trying to get education abroad as a result of official thefts at home.

It’s just most unfortunate that religion and other parochial considerations have, to a greater extent, beclouded our sense of rational and logical thinking. We all know what was happening in the past few years how this Boko Haram debacle has put so much fears in the mind of many Nigerians. Also, everybody can see and feel how much of difference we have seen since we have new Government.

Since this Government assumed office, the President has been moving from one country to the other to make sure that alliances are formed with the necessary countries in different capacities to ensure that the fight against the devilish group is won. The president has visited, Chad, Niger, Cameroun, Republic of Benin, USA, UK, France, Germany inter alia in a bid to make sure that each one of them contributes, in whatever form, in helping Nigeria to win its war. Fortunately, most of them, if not all, have pledged their supports. Why was there no cry that the country was going to be Islamized or Christianized?

If the Government has sensed that the BH is still getting their support from ISIS or ISIL, what better way would it be to deal with the it than to form alliance with the countries also waging war against the ISIL to break whatever form of cooperation that might have existed between the two groups?

The way the International diplomacy and bilateral relationship among nations work go far beyond all these Parochial mindset and thinking that most Nigerians harbour in their minds. How much of influence has Saudi made to US despite the closeness of their alliances. So we should leave all these things that have been dragging us back for many years and face the issue. We should let the Government do its job and provide us results. If we are not okay at the end of this tenure, the power still remain with the people and it can be exercised as we have done in the recent past.

@PT, this reportage is never the kind that helps the cause of good governance and unity of the Nigerian people. What does the issue about Shia or Sunni has to do with this report – just wandering? It’s good to be a builder than destroyer! God bless Nigeria.

You are preaching to the choir. Buhari is an Islamic Religious Bigot. He was when he came in 1983/84, which was part of the reasons Babangida (The Crook), overthrew him These military boys know each other. They were the ones who surreptitiously led Nigeria into OIC. Until Buhari, Babangida and Abacha came into power, religious crises were very rare.
Buhari is back in power to implement the mandate of The Sarduana (Ahmadu Bello). To ensure that Nigeria serves the interest of the The North. Using his “Anti-Kwaraption” slogan, he has drawn support from otherwise reasonable individuals. Tinubu is a businessman just looking to feather his nest.
The prognosis is dire. The Cattle Rearers killing the Agatu know they will always get the support of the current leadership in Abuja. Meanwhile in Kosofe, Lagos, you must be able to speak Hausa to survive the onslaught of Hausa-Fulani militants. Those of us who know Nigeria have already advised on the solution. • Kickboxer

You are a slave. Shut up!!! Keep supporting him…..Yariba slave….haaa

      • Maria

Your generation is a slave, your mother is a slave. your father is a slave…may you and your entire generation die as slaves. Yanmuyanmu, eboe tribes are useless people.

        • Kickboxer

emotion wouldn’t save you……slave……..the entire world knows who Nigerian slaves are….by their actions and mindset we shall know them……check facts……

          • Maria

The slaves are those seeking freedom…the slaves are those seeking independence because they can never produce Nigeria president. Useless eboes go around the world saying they are treated as slaves in Nigeria…those are the people the whole world knows as slaves.

          • Kickboxer

Hahahaa…..Yariba slaves are really unbelievable……..you don’t fight for your freedom because Yaribas are brain dead for Hausa-Fulani has been enslaving them since 16th century……

Slaves and mumu are the worst combination in modern world…..just 9 months you are being burnt to death and you are hiding somewhere in Ibadan because your homes have been burnt…..MUMU…..

MUMU……seeking freedom does not mean one is a slave……it can b someone wanting better life and who realizes that he has been staying with ANIMALS instead of humans……go back to school and start from primary school…..NIGERIAN MUMU SLAVE?

          • Maria

That is the reason you gave to the world…evidence is all over internet why you want freedom….. Yorubas in recent years have ruled this country and thereafter installed a southern minority…yibos what did you get? Nothing! You hijacked PDP and think you would use it as a platform but failed. Your people are a political failure…you amount to nothing in Nigeria political sphere…yeye people. When Zik was a dead brain president in coalition with the fulanis, what was he? When Ekweme was akobata of Shagari, what were yibos? When your man was chairman of PDP he zoned president of PDP to the north, what were you? Animal tribe go get life…

          • Kickboxer

hahahahaa….still missing the point……Yariba nevr rules………Fulani slave by nam Ota Baboon Obasanjo ruled Nigeria, twice……..genocidal Awolowo did not, h was the Yariba slaves’ preferred; Falae did not rule………have you asked yourself why only OTA BABOON Obasanjo?……hahahahaha……these Yariba slaves are real MUMU…….They selected a HOUSE SLAVE and lord it over Yaribas…..and you do not even get it? So much about NIGERIAN MUMU SLAVES!!!

Look a smaller in population Ijaw land…they got their president…..he was not picked…..IJAWS ARE FREE PEOPLE…….YOUR SLAVE MASTERS KNOW THE NATIONALITY THEY RESPECT & FEAR……

          • Otile

            Smelly cunt,

Frustrated whore, go wash your cunt, stop polluting the environment. Dirty one.

          • longben

Your saving grace here are two people that i respect a lot eventhough they are Yorubas. FFK and Fayose are for me REAL MEN and patriots and for them i will hold back my fingers from giving you and your likes a REAL thrashing. WOE onto you and your likes who are so grossly infected with COWARDICE that you quake and shit in your pants in fear even with all the anonymity offered by the internet. YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO EVEN THE LOWEST OF THE LOW and humanity.

          • Otile

Even with all the anonymity offered them, the smelly whore and her low life egbon Julius cower and descent so low to their Fulani masters. Even when the topic is about their master dragging unwilling people into Islamic terrorism, they still lose their senses and insult Igbo to appease the herdsmen. The traitors are hopeless.

          • Prophet

            calm down.

          • Julius

Loser, you are too daft to even know your own history, Half of your elites were born into slavery in the North. Check your history!. Zik was born in the North. Ojukwu was born in the North. so many of your folks thats worth anything were born in the North. Till they slaughtered you on the street and you ran like a rat to the West. Abi na lie ? Why do you think that happened ?

          • Kickboxer

Haahhaa…..another Yariba slave with brain cell dysentery…..so where someone is born in the modern Yariba slave lexicon makes the person a slave?

“Till they slaughtered you…” How many coward Yariba slaves live in the north? None…..they are all hiding in their mothers’ kitchen…….still your masters cam after you in Lagos. Burnt you alive and destroyed your homes and properties……and what did Yariba slaves do? Haahahaha….they are hiding in their neighbors homes……kai…..shameless Yariba Mumu slave….

          • Julius

See, you are not making sense, typical Ibo man . Get lost boi !

          • Kickboxer

you are making sense “Mr Julius”…….Oga sense…..ni…….CHANGE has burnt your people and properties, raped your daughters and wives, might push Nigeria into Islamic coalition and a “Julius” would be in great danger. WHAT DO WE HAVE? A making sense “Julius.” May be you are cursed and you do not know it…..go find out

          • Julius

Yes indeed, the whole world knows that Zik sold your fathers and mothers to the Northerners. Read your history. You were and still their slaves. This is why you cant mess with them without your asses being kick.

          • Kickboxer

No one Igbo can sell Igbos……they do not have Obas, Emirs etc…….so find another lie…..maybe you should ask LYING MOHAMMEND………no, mumu, slaves are not made by one-way bus…..there must be an established relationship………since 16th century, Fulans have been enslaving Yariba slaves….we have archival and ethnographic evidences to support the facts…..the evidences are all over the place………….No such evidences ca be established with Igbos……Zik was a great Nigerian and Igbo. The British who got the heat of ZIKISM knows who is a SLAVE even till today……..with regard to ruling Nigeria….Igbos had a run of evnts from 2010 to 2015. They will return in 2019 or 2023.

        • Otile

Smelly cunt, you are a useless whore. Stop displaying your ignorance to the public. Learn to understand what acronyms mean before you try to use them. There is nothing like ‘eboe tribes’, EBEO means Employee Benefits and Exempt Organizations. The acronym does not mean tribes. The fact you misspellt the noble acronym does not excuse your crass stupidity.

What constitution are you referring to? What you should rather ask is; WHAT DOES SHARIA LAW SAY ABOUT THIS KIND OF THING?

@maria, this is what some of you failed to comprehend and reduced every argument to a ‘Jonathan Vs Buhari’ quarrel.
Read your comment again. Your words clearly betray your bewilderment at the turn of events. You are naive mr/Mrs Maria you are still there asking “is Nigeria now an Islamic country’??
      Lol!
To all intents and purposes, UNDER YOUR gOD BUHARI, NIGERIA IS GLIDING INTO ISLAMISATION!
Those of us from ‘those areas’ who understand these issues fully well warned you guys.
Now the scales are gradually falling off your eyes, know this; JONATHANS PDP REGIME WAS CORRUPT..BUT BUHARI BEING A RELIGIOUS BIGOT LACKS THE NEUTRALITY REQUIRED TO PRESIDE OVER A MULTI RELIGIOUS AND ETHNIC COUNTRY LIKE NIGERIA.

STOP WAILING..NA ONE CHANCE BUS YOU DEY SO!

You support him though. After all, an islamist terrorist is still better than igbos in your eyes. Thought you’d perished at Mile 12. You yoruba haven’t seen the worst.

      • Maria

I supported Jonathan for 3 years until he derailed. I supported Buhari and if he derails I will hit him with criticism… so I dont need you to tell me about supporting anyone.

  • RestructureNigeria

PROMISE YOURSELF & LOVED ONES PEACE. SUPPORT THE RESTRUCTURING OF NIGERIA ACCORDING TO THE 2014 NATIONAL CONFERENCE…..

    REMEMBER…..

As long the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will be for the most part be regarded as a peace-loving minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. Although there WILL be Islamic attacks..

    United States — Muslim 0.6%

    Australia — Muslim 1.5%

    Canada — Muslim 1.9%

    China — Muslim 1.8%

    Italy — Muslim 1.5%

    Norway — Muslim 1.8%

At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs. There will be MORE attacks at this level

    This is happening in:

    Denmark — Muslim 2%

    Germany — Muslim 3.7%

    United Kingdom — Muslim 2.7%

    Spain — Muslim 4%

    Thailand — Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature halal on their shelves — along with threats for failure to comply. There will now be a level of fear from the natural population towards muslims This is occurring in:

    France — Muslim 8%

    Philippines — 5%

    Sweden — Muslim 5%

    Switzerland — Muslim 4.3%

    The Netherlands — Muslim 5.5%

    Trinidad & Tobago — Muslim 5.8%

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islamists is to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims approach 10% of the population, they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. In Paris , we are already seeing car-burnings. Any non-Muslim action offends Islam, and results in uprisings and threats, such as in Amsterdam , with opposition to Mohammed cartoons and films about Islam. Such tensions are seen daily, particularly in Muslim sections, in: Almost DAILY attacks in this range

    Guyana — Muslim 10%

    India — Muslim 13.4%

    Israel — Muslim 16%

    Kenya — Muslim 10%

    Russia — Muslim 15%

After reaching 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burnings of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues, such as in:

    Ethiopia — Muslim 32.8%

At 40%, nations experience widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare, such as in:

    Bosnia — Muslim 40%

    NIGERIA– Muslim 42.8%

    Chad — Muslim 53.1%

    Lebanon — Muslim 59.7%

From 60%, nations experience unfettered persecution of non-believers of all other religions (including non-conforming Muslims), sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon, and ***ya, the tax placed on infidels, such as in:

    Albania — Muslim 70%

    Malaysia — Muslim 60.4%

    Qatar — Muslim 77.5%

    Sudan — Muslim 70%

After 80%, expect daily intimidation and violent jihad, some State-run ethnic cleansing, and even some genocide, as these nations drive out the infidels, and move toward 100% Muslim, such as has been experienced and in some ways is on-going in:

    Bangladesh — Muslim 83%

    Egypt — Muslim 90%

    Gaza — Muslim 98.7%

    Indonesia — Muslim 86.1%

    Iran — Muslim 98%

    Iraq — Muslim 97%

    Jordan — Muslim 92%

    Morocco — Muslim 98.7%

    Pakistan — Muslim 97%

    Palestine — Muslim 99%

    Syria — Muslim 90%

    Tajikistan — Muslim 90%

    Turkey — Muslim 99.8%

United Arab Emirates — Muslim 96%

100% will usher in the peace of ‘Dar-es-Salaam’ — the Islamic House of Peace. Here there’s supposed to be peace, because everybody is a Muslim, the Madrasas are the only schools, and the Koran is the only word, such as in:

    Afghanistan — Muslim 100%

    Saudi Arabia — Muslim 100%

    Somalia — Muslim 100%

    Yemen — Muslim 100%

Unfortunately, peace is never achieved, as in these 100% states the most radical Muslims intimidate and spew hatred, and satisfy their blood lust by killing less radical Muslims, for a variety of reasons. Then you have BOKO HARAM, ISIS..Islam with a hall pass!!!

    I HAD A DREAM, SIR

Dear Editor, I had a dream. It was a funny dream. I woke and ask myself: what kind of dream is this now?
Se, in that dream, I saw Obasanjo using walking stick to go to Aso Villa. General Gowon was in front of him,
but no walking stick. Behin Obasanjo was General Babangida, not walking well with his own walking stick.
But General Abdulsalam who was few meters at the back had no walking stick. Chief Shonekan followed.
Behind Chief Shonekan was Goodluck Jonathan.

After about few minutes a lot of white men and women, like 20, came in too.
The journalists were taking photographs all over the place. But nobody knew why these people
came to Aso Rock together. After sometime in the dream I saw all of them leaving Aso Rock together with
sad faces. The journalists were asking questions but nobody agreed to answer any question. Later on,
one Ambassador, a white man, who went for the meeting, also came out.

Journalists asked him what was discussed at the meeting.
The Ambassador said: <We are partners of Nigeria. We stand ready
to help in the arrangement your elders and leaders propose. We don't impose interim governments,
it is up to Nigerians themselves to agree and work that out by themselves. We only facilitate consensus".

  • Pause

NOW WE MUST FIND OUT IF WE HAVE A NATIONAL ASSEMBLY & JUDICIARY. IF THIS STANDS I WILL RESIGN MY JOB AND FIGHT THIS GOVERNMENT!!!!!

    • ??????????

Nine months after, where is Muhamadu Buhari’s map for ‘change’; and, where are the drivers of that ‘change’?

No wise man endeavors ‘change’ with a notorious liar as an official spokesman, to negate trust in his own words.

A slogan without meaning to the sayer himself is nothing but muffled noise worse than platitude uttered in levity!

    • PolyGon2013

I am waiting for them. I don’t think Buhari can unilaterally make us join those terrorists (Arabs).

  • MoneyMan

I note that Buhari has not backtracked on any policy plan that Nigerians rebuke since his coming into office. His half-measure asset declaration, his avowed determination to appoint more Hausa/Muslims and ignore regions like the south east, his insistence on non-devaluation of Naira, his refusal to obey judicial proclamations on treatment of suspects, etc.

Now, I bet no one read the stated arrogance:

“Why can’t those Christians that complain go and fight terrorism in Nigeria or fight the militants in the South. It is Nigeria that matters, not the opinions of some religious bigots”. To this president, Nigeria is all about Buhari, he, him and his! Let the spinners spin till tomorrow, it won’t work. Buhari is a goner.

    • Abidilagungun

So PMB sees Nigeria in terms of Islamists fighting problems cause by Muslims and Christians fighting problems caused by Christian believers. Wow, quite an intelligent insight!

    • I sigh

Buhari does not know what he is talking about. Christians in the military have been fighting Boko Haram more honestly with out being easily compromised unlike some Muslim soldiers.

    • New Nigerian

You have to have welcomed and supported somebody before you take the position that he was a goner!

  • Chukwuka Okoroafor

It is clear that Buhari really lacks the capability to govern Nigeria and the foundation of the country has to be addressed with his last comment. It is so sad to see this.

    • I sigh

Well, we have been saying this and it good that people that shared your former view of him are now coming on board.

      • Chukwuka Okoroafor

What former view? I never supported Buhari or Jonathan for that matter if you have been following my posts from last year. It is just that Buhari has turned out worse than I thought he would.

        • Julius

I would welcome biafrain soldiers to fight the terrorists if that will end their terror. So, I dont know what you are talking about that is so bad. The United states partner with some moslem countries to fight the terrorists.

          • Kickboxer

Is Nigeria now United States? And does United States have 350 different nationalities of which majority oppose the policy? Is your home/vehicles or those of your loved ones burnt in Lagos? Lastly are you writing from Sambisa Forest?

          • Chukwuka Okoroafor

And Buhari just said that we were broke. How will he now find money to go an help the Arabs? I think Buhari was talking of fighting in West Africa, but his words have gotten him into trouble.

          • New Nigerian

So fighting Boko Haram in Nigeria is now helping the arabs?

          • Chukwuka Okoroafor

But how will Saudi Arabia help with counter-terrorism? Even though Buhari made it about West Africa and Boko Haram, how will Saudi Arabia help Nigeria with attacks on soft targets? There is only one conclusion and it will mean that Nigeria is a member of a collation to fight ISIS in the Middle East. Nigeria supposedly needs funding and investment and Saudi Arabia I am sure has promised money. We will wait for more details of what this means but usually this will mean that Nigeria is a kept country and will do whatever the Saudis want.

          • Abdul

Dont mind those fools i beg

          • Kickboxer

I hear you…they have embraced your enslavement of their people……..as you wish….now you may go ahead to burn more of his people alive, destroy their homes and properties……but pleas have mercy on them if they stop claiming Lagos or any Nigerian territory as theirs…………….only SS & SE people are “intellectualizing” Yariba slaves……..they should be treated the way their Hausa-Fulani masters treat them……..kudos!

          • Julius

Does that explain why your useless and loser folks all over Abuja begging for jobs ?. You so quick in caling others name and putting people down but, its funny that those people are better and doing better in their lives that your cursed tribe. comot for road..all you do well is noise making and name calling.

          • Kickboxer

hahahaha…….the unemployment rate of Igbos are the lowest among Nigerians. It has always been so.
Go check the faces of those who kidnapped innocent school girls in Lagos, they are Yariba slaves……is that the employment you are referring to? Now name calling is not cool, right? Think about the origin of online name calling in recent times….mumu……go back to check if your home was burnt or not……CHANGE has come to your door step……..mumu Yariba slave…..you o get wll-working brain cells…..that is the problem

          • emmanuel

You nannot be as better as the SS and SE PEOPLE. pLEASE CHECK lagos alone and confirm to me. The Yorubas leaved at Iju, Akute, Mowe, Ikorudu, Agege, Mushin, Ibafon, Badagary, Sango, Ijoko, Meiran, Ayobo, and other local settlements whilst the SS and SE people buy houses in leave in the Metropolitan Lagos. The Key businesses in Lagos today are either owned by same SS and SE people or Indians, Chinese, Europeans and other Arabs. The Yobas have attachement businesses by the sides of those people.
Time was it after the indegenisation thing, when the Yorubas where the major investors in the Multinationals and conglomerates, that has been diluted by others making deep investents in them whilst the Yorubas sold off to acquire more concubines, bequeath to their illegitimate children or pay sex fee to the skin bleached Asewos.
Are you saying that all Yorubas do not beg for jobs and are all well employed? How come it is your women who use theirnyash to cater for their nanny husbands? – most odf the acuantances i know are technical nannies to their wives who hustle for the men.
Please tell us your economic strength compared to your wife?

          • Julius

My bad, I forgot you owned 85% of Lagos. My question is how will you take that percentage with you when you separate and move to biafraud ? I live at Surulere, born and bread. I cant understand why you people lie so damn much. Must be in your DNA. smdh !

          • emmanuel

Surulere is 50:50 and that is why i have not mentioned it. You guys are still there, because it your Cociane and Credit Card fraud head quarters. There lots of three generation drug pushing Yoruba families in Surulere, so they are at home and can sustain their lives there with illicit gains
I know very well what i have talked about here.

          • Kickboxer

I moved to FESTAC but I lived in Surulere, born and bred, fully understand where the jealousy against Igbo success usettles people like you. Moving the percentage would not be necessary because it can be recreated within a short period. Igbos abandoned their “percentage” in form of buildings in Rivers State ad elsewhere and in form of bank accounts in Yariba land and elsewhere but today they remain the richest, on average, So if the percentage was the only consideration Igbos would be gone….and

          • Julius

Please, hurry up. I wonder why you havent done that where you came from. lol@ they remain the richest. Lying must have been taught to you all when you were born.

          • Kickboxer

forget all these MASSOB/IPOB……..for the real Biafra……you can’t be a Biafran soldier because you would die in training…

yesoooo…..anything goes in Yariba fantasy world…….but real people can add two plus two……..it turns out that Russia, Britain, Egypt, and many others had to actively come in to fight those BIAFRANS………….for wise people…..it tells all the story………….now, ZOO inmate,….go back to collect your stipend (before you get burnt alive) from some YARIBA MUMU HOUSE SLAVE because that must be from where you get your brain cells bamboozled

          • emmanuel

Tundemess Omo Ale, two years ago when Boko Hama boys attempted Lagos as insinuated, you all said your ancestors will fight for you if they dare it.
What happened this time when common Almangeri slaughtered your people in Lagos? Are your ancestors dead?
The then so-called Nigerian soldiers who engaged the Igbos during the War that spanned a few years were well trained, but know what? The Almangeria that slaughtered your people in a span of three days at Mile12 neither had any training, homes to dwell in or house addresses, yet they silenced you.
Who then is better, you or the Igbo people? Timid and cowardly i call the Yoruba bum scracthing lots.
I beg make una commot for road make person waka pass.

        • I sigh

Let me quote you ” It is just that Buhari has turned out worse than I thought he would” That is exactly what I am saying, we knew he is as worst as any leader can be from day one, but some did not know.

          • Chukwuka Okoroafor

But you were insinuating that I supported him last year.

        • New Nigerian

Why has he turned out worse, because he hurts your feelings that after all Nigeria is not a Christian-only country?

          • Chukwuka Okoroafor

We can look at foreign policy. His biggest screw up besides the pledge to join the Arab coalition is his stance on Jerusalem. I am not talking about Palestine, but Jerusalem, a city that Israel captured in a defensive pre-emptive war in 1967. Nigeria took back Biafra by force, something that Buhari himself was involved in, in a war “to unite” as Obasanjo said a few years ago. He is defending Nigeria’s unity today while being the only leader on the planet to call for all of Jerusalem to be given to the Arabs (and Jerusalem was incorporated by law into Israel in 1980). That is contradictory if you ask me. Trust me, if there were no Sharia agenda, I would not care if Nigeria were 90% Muslim. Sierra Leone is 60% Muslim, yet there is no real culture of Muslim supremacy nor is there Sharia there.

PROMISE YOURSELF & LOVED ONES PEACE. SUPPORT THE RESTRUCTURING OF NIGERIA ACCORDING TO THE 2014 NATIONAL CONFERENCE…..

    REMEMBER…..

As long the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will be for the most part be regarded as a peace-loving minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. Although there WILL be Islamic attacks..

    United States — Muslim 0.6%

    Australia — Muslim 1.5%

    Canada — Muslim 1.9%

    China — Muslim 1.8%

    Italy — Muslim 1.5%

    Norway — Muslim 1.8%

At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs. There will be MORE attacks at this level

    This is happening in:

    Denmark — Muslim 2%

    Germany — Muslim 3.7%

    United Kingdom — Muslim 2.7%

    Spain — Muslim 4%

    Thailand — Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature halal on their shelves — along with threats for failure to comply. There will now be a level of fear from the natural population towards muslims This is occurring in:

    France — Muslim 8%

    Philippines — 5%

    Sweden — Muslim 5%

    Switzerland — Muslim 4.3%

    The Netherlands — Muslim 5.5%

    Trinidad & Tobago — Muslim 5.8%

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islamists is to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims approach 10% of the population, they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. In Paris , we are already seeing car-burnings. Any non-Muslim action offends Islam, and results in uprisings and threats, such as in Amsterdam , with opposition to Mohammed cartoons and films about Islam. Such tensions are seen daily, particularly in Muslim sections, in: Almost DAILY attacks in this range

    Guyana — Muslim 10%

    India — Muslim 13.4%

    Israel — Muslim 16%

    Kenya — Muslim 10%

    Russia — Muslim 15%

After reaching 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burnings of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues, such as in:

    Ethiopia — Muslim 32.8%

At 40%, nations experience widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare, such as in:

    Bosnia — Muslim 40%

    NIGERIA– Muslim 42.8%

    Chad — Muslim 53.1%

    Lebanon — Muslim 59.7%

From 60%, nations experience unfettered persecution of non-believers of all other religions (including non-conforming Muslims), sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon, and ***ya, the tax placed on infidels, such as in:

    Albania — Muslim 70%

    Malaysia — Muslim 60.4%

    Qatar — Muslim 77.5%

    Sudan — Muslim 70%

After 80%, expect daily intimidation and violent jihad, some State-run ethnic cleansing, and even some genocide, as these nations drive out the infidels, and move toward 100% Muslim, such as has been experienced and in some ways is on-going in:

    Bangladesh — Muslim 83%

    Egypt — Muslim 90%

    Gaza — Muslim 98.7%

    Indonesia — Muslim 86.1%

    Iran — Muslim 98%

    Iraq — Muslim 97%

    Jordan — Muslim 92%

    Morocco — Muslim 98.7%

    Pakistan — Muslim 97%

    Palestine — Muslim 99%

    Syria — Muslim 90%

    Tajikistan — Muslim 90%

    Turkey — Muslim 99.8%

United Arab Emirates — Muslim 96%

100% will usher in the peace of ‘Dar-es-Salaam’ — the Islamic House of Peace. Here there’s supposed to be peace, because everybody is a Muslim, the Madrasas are the only schools, and the Koran is the only word, such as in:

    Afghanistan — Muslim 100%

    Saudi Arabia — Muslim 100%

    Somalia — Muslim 100%

    Yemen — Muslim 100%

Unfortunately, peace is never achieved, as in these 100% states the most radical Muslims intimidate and spew hatred, and satisfy their blood lust by killing less radical Muslims, for a variety of reasons. Then you have BOKO HARAM, ISIS..Islam with a hall pass!!!

    • Factsay

    Editor Premium Times,

    Simple Question For President Buhari

I have a simple question for President Muhamadu Buhari. He said in this
Aljazeera interview that 14 local governments were under the control of Boko
    Haram when he took his oath of office on the 29th of May, 2015. That’s false;
very false statement. There were no 14 local governments in Nigeria under
Boko Haram’s control as at 29th of May 2015.

I will like President Buhari to
list any 14 local governments under Boko Haram’s control on 29th May, 2015.
The international community will also like to know, since historical facts must
not be twisted on global news because the rest of the world is watching and
is much better informed through its diplomats in Nigeria.

    • Kickboxer

so you are still among those who think brainless Buhari is not a liar. If h is why is LYING MOHAMMED made his information minister? Have you thought about that. WAKE UP! Brainless Buhari is CORRUPT and a LIAR and there are evidences all over the place to prove it.

    • New Nigerian

Google it and stop mischief making….in 2 seconds I was able to get this…Checks by Sunday Trust, however, shows
that a large size of Nigerian territory is still under the control of
Boko Haram, even as the country has less than two months to go to polls
      Thousands
of residents have fled these areas since the group began capturing
territories in August last year. Many others have also been killed.
      Nine
of the affected local governments are in Borno State and they are:
Gwoza, Bama, Mafa, Dikwa, Kala-Balge, Ngala, Marte, Abadam and Mobbar.
The other four are Michika and Madagali in Adamawa State, as well as
Gujba and Gulani in Yobe State.
      The insurgents have also established
partial control in parts of some local government areas in Borno,
comprising Mungono, Kukawa, Guzamala, Gubio, Magumeri, Damboa, konduga,
      Chibok, Askira Uba and Jere.
      .

          under militant control.”

      • sabosuji2000@yahoo.com

        Dear mr NEW NIGERIA,
I thought that we are all men and women of age who should be guided by reason and vision. If this is true, may I ask; what benefit should one derive twisting truth and choosing to cover the clear truth and openly embracing fabrication of lies? Let me ask again, going by what you wrote here as was written by DAILY TRUST, I can read clearly that you said ‘two months before election’.Two months before election, by simple arithmetic s is eight weeks. If this is so, have we forgotten so soon that elections were postponed by six weeks with the purpose of allowing the soldiers clear the insurgents in order to ensure that every Nigerian was given opportunity, unhindered by any factor, insurgency or otherwise, to participate in the election. Before the rescheduled polls, was it it not clear that virtually every part of the North East, especially those areas that were held captive by the insurgents as you mentioned were liberated? I’m personally disturbed by the spate of twisted stories and arguments people post here all in an effort to show themselves as knowing more than others even when they know as a matter of fact that what they are saying is absolutely wrong. I, as an individual, had most of my friends in the Northern Nigeria. In keeping with my profession, I travel to the North every two weeks and I know what advantage I do get. Same way as those I go there to see and the business I do there. But this insurgency has collapsed all that which both myself and those I visit there are not happy about. It therefore baffles me when people who should know begin to twist facts and figures. No matter how hard you try, history can never be wished or washed away. If the ills ravaging our society today must be corrected, it must the youths. For instance, was it not the youths that orchestrated the revolution in Tunisia? Does it mean they don’t have parents, religion or tribe? Yet, they came together to fight a common cause. But here, we keep supporting those that oppress us, those that are fanning the embers of disunity for their own advantage. After all, is it not said that youths are leaders of tomorrow? Tell me, in all of this, where is the sign the Nigerian youth can or will, be tomorrow’s leader when we’re held by our religious, tribal and ethnic apron strings? God save Nigeria our dear country.

        • New Nigerian

You may be entitled to your opinion. You are NOT entitled to your facts. Your lengthy response cannot compare to the facts. Are 180 million Nigerians Idol worshipers who cannot speak the truth with concience and courage?
Are all the power mongers so dumb to sacrifice their ambitions and stand by the trut to tell Buhari to quite before it becomes catastrophic for the country?

The fact is that Buhari has lost economic focus in Nigeria and now wants to play Maradona like IBB did with IOC.
That was what lead Nigeria to bankrupcy by 1999 and the whole world was calling Nigeria a “failed state”
I really hope that Nigerians are wiser now under democratic rule to call a spade, a spade.
We mistakenly voted for Buhari Because of Tinubus selfish interest, is it not time for Nigerians to act before it’s to late?
All indicators show that we are slidding back in a pace. All the development that were aechieved in 16 years are fast eroding.

Then look at how Hausa military men stood by while fulanis were massacring Yorubas in mile 12. Buhari could be it even make a comment of the girls being kidnapped, raped, forced to conver to Islam in emir’s palaces in the north. Look all around and it is clear Buhari is annoslamic bigot. Now you accept the relationship with Israel and continue to rail against membership of OIC.

Nigerians would NOT be distracted by the job of moving the country forward because the feelings of some people who sees Nigeria as a Christian country are hurt. get with it and good luck with your national assembly assignment

      • Say the truth

Buhari succeeded in fooling those that wanted to be. The nation was warned enough. How do you explain the fact that Buhari sees himself as military leader still. “Why can’t those Christians that complain go and fight terrorism in Nigeria or fight the militants in the South. It is Nigeria that matters, not the opinions of some religious bigots,” he added. That is the voice of a bigot, a fanatic, an insensitive and despotic ruler. It is an eye opener for all those hosanna singers. Buhari is working with El Ruffian who asked that invited preachers must get permission from government to preach in Kaduna. The same Ruffian said, mocking praying President Jonathan……”Many prayer of the lazy, docile, incompetent, clueless, hopeless, useless leader.” Now that Buhari had gone to Mecca to do the same what has midget got to say. Is Buhari not also a lazy, docile, incompetent, clueless, hopeless, useless ruler? Buhari is a religious fanatic pure and simple.

      • vTrigger

  • New Nigerian

I read all these comments with amusement. To most of the “enraged” commentators, Nigeria is a Christian Country. So any thing that goes against this narrative is unwelcomed. So I ask them, did Nigerian Muslims cry blue murder and state that Nigeria is NOT a Catholic country when Nigeria established ambassadorial posting to the HolySee in 2012? Can a muslim ever be posted as ambassador to the HolySee? Yet Muslims voted for the Christian President who established this and supported him while in office – that Christian President worked with many Muslims, they stole together, killed together and corrupted the country together. Those bent on keeping stolen commonwealth have suddenly found a new tool to anchor their escape – religious bigotry. Will they succeed? I know Nigerians are smarter than that and God willing they will fail.

From the Vatican media see the link under neoNigerian post in the facebook section of discussions above – Pope Francis on Wednesday 5 August met with Nigeria’s outgoing ambassador to the Holy See H.E. Francis Chukwuemeka Okeke. The Embassy of Nigeria to the Holy See was opened in August 2012 and Dr. Okeke was appointed the country’s first resident ambassador.

Formal diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the Holy See date back to 1976. Prior to the opening of the embassy, those relations were done through the country’s embassy in Spain.

Saudi Arabia is not the equivalent of the Vatican. The Holy Lands in Saudi Arabia for Muslims (Makkah and Medina) is what is in essence comparable in that sense to the Vatican. • New Nigerian

ah…so the Vatican has a division between religious authority and political authority? The Holysee is The Vatican officially the Vatican City State, a walled enclave within the city of Rome. With an area of approximately 44 hectares, and a population of 842 – It is the world headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church only…see the difference now?

          • Factsay

Can u see the difference between Nigeria and ghana and latvia?
They are all countries and recognized by UN.
Vatican is an independent country, so i dont get what is your headache

    • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

Even Muslim countries have Embassies at the Vatican and there are Mosques in Rome. Saudi Arabia does not have churches and Nigerian has an Embassy in Saudi-Arabia. Pope Francis visits Mosques…….you have made no point. What we have at stake is that Nigeria is a secular state which maintains religious neutrality in foreign policy. All that, Buhari has destroyed by taking sides in the 1000 year old Sunni-Shiite conflict.

      • New Nigerian

Constitutionally Nigeria is a multi-religious country. Point me to where it is said that Nigeria is a “secular State” in the Nigerian Constitution. The Holy See (Latin: Sancta Sedes; Ecclesiastical Latin: [ˈsaŋkta ˈsedes]) is the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Catholic Church in Rome, the episcopal see of the Pope, and an independent sovereign entity. The Holy See is not Rome, even as it is in Rome. Nigeria has an ambassador to Italy AND in the HolySee based on what I shared from publicly available information. Joining a coalition of Muslim Countries to fight terrorism is less than having an ambassadorial posting of Nigeria to the HolySee, yet I repeat, Nigerian Muslims NEVER raised an issue of Nigerian being portrayed as “Christian”. I say sure, have an ambassador to the HolySee if it serves Nigerian foreign policy thrust. And I say yes, join Coalition of Islamic Countries to fight terrorism and join any other coalition as the case maybe. No Nigerian would be compelled to practice a faith they don’t want to practice and limiting the access of other people to practice good in the world based on their faith does nothing to strengthen the faith of the bigot.

        • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

There is everything wrong in joining a pan-Sunni Muslim coalition with known traditional enemies which Nigeria has of course inherited by implication. It is also absurd for a democratic nation to go into a coalition led by an undemocratic state legendary for it’s disdain for human rights.

    • Otile

      What is your point?

    • Chukwuka Okoroafor

I agree with most of your points, but doesn’t Nigeria have diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia?

      • New Nigerian

Is the HolySee the equivalent of Saudi Arabia? Having an ambassadorial posting to the HolySee is like having a Nigerian Ambassador to Makkah and Medina (The Holy lands of Muslims) with an aide to Jerusalem

        • Fairgame

You are wrong. The Holy See is in Italy but not under Italian government. It is more like a country within a country.

          • New Nigerian

You are not entitled to your fact. The HolySee is the Vatican. The Vatican officially the Vatican City State, is a walled enclave within the city of Rome. With an area of approximately 44 hectares, and a population of 842.

  • jesusZamani

It’s a great pity! The oyinbo master plan is still working in Nigeria-entangle muslims and Christians and they will naturally keep checkmating each other, even in the face of a common enemy.
Buhari please carry on and never look back or even waver. BokoHaram also mercilessly kill Christians.

If Liar Mohammed and Buhari have ended Boko Haram, joining this league is definately a jihadist thing. Not to worry, Iran is soon going to send her bad guys to secure Nigeria as another battle ground like they have done to Yemen and Iraq.

        @Factsay:disqus

        Muhamadu Buhari
should send people he trusts round the 36 states to feel the pulse of
Nigerians. He will be shocked that he’s fallen from grace to grass in under 9
months. He had a hint of it in yesterday’s Al Jazeera interview. The journalist
told President Buhari pointblank, “You have failed!”

I believe that the Al Jazeera message sank.
President Buhari answered three times: “I have not failed, i have not
        failed, I have not failed
,” as if stung by that definite verdict broadcast
on global television to all countries in the world.

        President Buhari was told
what his own Ministers and appointed Media aides fear to say not to lose
their jobs. But if President Buhari takes my advice to send people out to
feel the pulse of Nigerians, he will realize that the Al Jazeera verdict does
resonate with the plurality of Nigerians.

i said it without equivocation during and after the 2015 election after Jega and the USA installed him that the end of his second coming will be more disastrous than his first.
The present silence in Nigeria in the face of extreme hardship speaks volume. He knows and does not need that survey.
He is fighting PDP, judiciary, the rogues (except those who dine with him), the Christians, the South, USA at the same time.
          I wish him goodluck!

  • Diji

I WANT TO THANK THE AL JAZEERA JOURNALIST for her confidence, knowledge, diction and poise,
in the interview she did with Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari. The lady journalist was in control
of the facts. When she asserted that BUHARI HAS FAILED she backed it up with facts. By the time Buhari
resumed office, just one local government remained to be liberated. President Buhari could not liberate
that single local government in a decisive way as to then mop up straggling Boko Haram militias. Till now,
Boko Haram constitutes a dangerous threat to Nigeria. President Buhari irrelevantly joined Saudi Arabia’s
Coalition of Islamic Countries to fight ISIS in Syria and Iraq whilst Nigeria keeps reeling from Boko Haram.

  • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

It is unfortunate that Buhari is hell-bent on the Islamization of Nigeria’s foreign policy. By this singular act, religious neutrality has been stripped off the Nigerian state as Nigeria joins a coalition led by a dictatorial Sunni-Islam coalition led by Saudi Arabia. Nigeria has more than 90 million Christians whose interests Buhari could careless about. Nigeria has also taken sides in the more than 1000 year old rift between the Shiites and Sunni, a conflict which most western nations steer clear from.

The Al-Jazeera journalist did a good job which will shame the primitive journalists in Nigeria who give Buhari a blank cheque. The Presidents dead-end policy on Biafra which cannot deconflict the situation by killing unarmed protesters as state policy and his inhuman reaction to the fact that thousands of Nigerian youth studying abroad may not be able to continue due to his FOREX policy and the fact that he claimed that his own children will continue their studies abroad because he can afford it is open faced tyranny.

    • New Nigerian

Nigeria is the largest Christian countries in Africa, but it does NOT have more than 90 million Christians. It is also the largest Muslim Country in Africa. Buhari cares about the interests of Nigerians – Muslims, Christians and others – that is why he is doing EVERYTHING humanly possible to eliminate the threat of terrorism. How come you did NOT accuse Jonathan of turning Nigeria into a Catholic-only country when he single-handedly sent an ambassador, the first to the Vatican in 2012?. The Vatican officially the Vatican City State, is a walled enclave within the city of Rome. With an area of approximately 44 hectares, and a population of 842…and Jonathan sent an ambassador there, while there was another one in Italy.

      • TAWANDA INCOMMUNICADO

My figure was modest to exclude Nigerians in the diaspora. Nigeria has well above 90 million Christians, the UK alone has above 2 million Nigerians mostly Christians, the US may even have more.

We concur! Nigerian is not an Islamic state. We will go so far as to remind us all that Nigeria is a Republic!
That fact did not prevent people down south from adopting Christianity, or those up north, Islam!

Joining this organization simply means all members are committed to fighting terrorism anytime it shows up in member states.
Currently, PMB has been doing an outstanding job in lobbying foreign governments for their help.

As a member of the organization in question, Nigeria no longer needs to beg. It is the duty of ALL member states to render help! If you can not appreciate the logic, you are a wastew of good oxygem…and the world would be better off if yo off’d yourself!

SE and SS folks are enjoying the sensation of sitting on their thumbs ….with no thoughts about Boko Haram’s real target.
Where do you think they will head in the unlikely event that they defeat some of the best fighters on the continent as represented by Northerners with strategic help from the Yorubas?

Be careful of what you wish for….it may come true!

    • Etomi

The last person that ought to be the president of Nigeria is Buhari…..

Buhari has shown over his long history in Nigeria’s public life that his Fulani-hood and Northerner-hood trumps his being a Nigerian….

For example, all is appointments hav reflected a scynically strong prejudice agaisnt the Chrisytian South…ghis appoinment has woefuly failed to reflect pan-Nigerianism….

Buhari is not a patriot….he is Fulani imerialist!!!!

      And that is the danger…..

If there is anyone that can best puch the Noryhern agenda at the expense of Nigeria, it is Buhari, because of his type of political mindset….

Buhari is an agent of instability, and if time is not taken, nigeria would fall under northern and Islamic domination under Buhari….

      • Prophet

Okay, let us agree that Buhari’s appointments betray a certain disdain for South Easterners.
Let us even go as far as using the word “hate”. So?”
        When a group has demonstrated how much they dislike you by voting en masse against you;
When the said group feel so slighted by your successful presidential bid that they want to secede from the country, would you bring such snakes into your household?

The SE withheld their support from Buhari and refused to participate in the process only to turn around and cry that they are not involved.

FYI, there is nothing illegal about how Buhari chose his appointees….if you find something wrong, sue the FGN.
In the mean time, Continue mongering fear……you will scare only yourselves.

First read the news before you comment. Russia has been bombarding ISIS territories. The United State elections is primarily centered on how to tackle ISIS and other terrorists. NATO forces are strategizing on how to attack ISIS.

This is about terrorist and not Islamic organizations.

Please can we stop being bigots and be objective

      • Prophet

Take your own advice and read our comment again.

It is in no way intended as a reply to the article. We are instead, addressing the myriads of commenters here that ignorantly base their thoughts and comment on religion. e,g, “Buhari is hell-bent on the Islamization..”
Not surprisingly, these commenters appear to be generally from the South East…..or at the very least, they are Buhari’s most obnoxious and ignorant critics.

They have more in common with Boko Haram than they may suspect.
Boko Haram is against western education because it supposedly offends its god
These disgruntled elements here are against help from the Saudi’s because it supposedly offends their god.

We will say it again, if Boko Haram (by some miracle) overwhelms Nigerias bravest, the South east will continue to exist only as a wasteland devoid her current inhabitants.

  • Dawood

I believe that this is the first big mistake by Buhari. He does not have the right to drag Nigeria into this never-ending Saudi/Iranian conflict shrouded in the Sunni/Shiites wars. Nigeria is not an Islamic state, and we’re not about to start kissing butt in the House of Saud. Is this about oil prices? It’s not worth it, Mr. President. Cancel it.

    • Otile

Buhari himself is a jihadist and this his opportunity to show his loyalty to his godfather in the Sud kingdom.

      • okenwa

This has shown and confirm the allegations that buhari recieved campaign funds from saudi arabia.

  • CandidView

You can see lack of tact and wisdom in the decision made by the President. He said Christians should go and fight Boko Haram with so much callousness of heart. This man is not fit for a President but he fits as head or member of Sharia council.
He should go and ask all those who tried to elevate Islam above Nigeria and what happened to them.
How can a President make unilateral decisions without recourse to the interests of the totality of his people? Just because Saudi Arabia allowed you into the Kabba doesn’t give you the right to trade Nigeria’s welfare for unholy religious nonsense.
The Saudis and Co that are claiming to fight terrorists are the number one sponsors of terrorism from another direction.
Iran heads a set while the Saudis head another. For Buhari to join Nigeria to that unholy alliance is to take sides with a party like we see the Nigerian army slaughtering 100s of shias.
For this President Buhari has proven his insensitivity and hardness of heart and keeps exhibiting military dictatorial bias. In any rate, this plan will fail.
Saudi Arabia does not get involved in your country but to promote her evil monarchical expansion. Nigeria is not an Islamic state and must be removed from there forthwith. Ben Bruce you have to speak out now.

  • Curseless

I’m a supporter of President Buhari, but on this issue I strongly disagree. Nigeria as a sovereign nation under democratic governance can not stand idle allowing an elected President to single handedly drag our secular nation into an Islamic organization under any guise. Without the approval of the representatives of the people in the National Assembly this Buhari’s idea must be reversed.

    • Ahmad

Where were u with your so called secularity when GEJ was going to the Zionist state of Israel with his CAN urchins every month to take decision on National issues?

      • Fairgame

You are indeed a very diseased mind. GEJ goes on pilgrimage and it upsets you so much because you hate Israel. But your deprived child kidnapping and raping leaders have been going for Hajj every year and taking decisions on Nigeria since 1960s and it was ok. God will continue to frustrate you evil people from running over Nigeria with your darkness. Light will continue to triumph of darkness as Ese Oruru’s case proved. All the mirserous Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria who are agents of fear and intimidation in Buhari’s Islamic dominance agenda will surely person.

      • ed

Buhari is free to lead the 12 sharia northern state to be subject of Saudi Arabia. Just let the rest of us that value freedom and liberty alone.
        Goodbye to endless manipulation.

      • Curseless

You are missing the point. Buhari can not commit Nigeria to a foreign nation or organization without the consent of Nigerians. GEJ have a right to go to Israel just like Buhari just went to Mecca as this is their right of freedom of religion. If Buhari wants he can go to the central mosque in Abuja and lead the prayer (salah) and no one will fault him on this. Get this right, in a democracy Buhari can not unilaterally commit Nigeria to any foreign nation army in whatever form. The truth must be told regardless of despite the fact that I’m one of his strong supporter.

      • New Nigerian

One of the most visited countries in the world is Dubai with full social amenities. Leave religion out of this endeavor pls.

    • Etomi

Which BH menace are you talking about???

Imagine the force, carbide, rank venom, iron and cold bloodletting with which the military descended on PEACEFUL pro-Biafra protests in the SE…

And compare with the seeming disinterest and sheer aloofness (if not furtive support) with which this cynical Buhari government has shown towards the mindless and blood-cuddling massacre of Christian Agatu people of Benue State by Buhari’s Fulani kinsmen….

Maybe Buhari has dragged Nigeria into the Saudi coalition to fight his terror-mongering Fulani kinsmen…

Ogbeni, wake-up and stop being fooled….

That coalition is a Sunni one, and their target is the Shiites, whose holy place is karbala in Iran; while for Sunnis, it is Mecca in Saudi Arabia…

Which explanation do you have for the sort of chilling, acidic, genocidal onslaught which the military visited on the Shiite community in Nigeria…in a country where religious freedom is enshrined as a fundamental constitutional, positive right???

Note this: A SUNNI-SHIITE WAR IS BREWING IN THE HORIZON…IT PROMISES TO BE THE APOGEE OF ATTRITION….IT IS A MUSLIM WORLD WAR THAT WOULD SEE MILLIONS DEAD…AND BUHARI IS DRAGGING NIGERIA INTO THAT WAR ALTHOUGH NIGERIA IS CONSTITUTIONALLY A SECULAR STATE, NOT A MUSLIM COUNTRY….BUHARI HAS MORTGAGED THE FUTURE OF OUR CHILDREN AND CHILDREN’S CHILDREN ON THE ALTER OF HIS FUNDAMENTALIST POSTURING!!!

You can imagine that Iran is talking about undermining Nigeria…

      Do you blame that country????

      Blame Buhari!!!

Buhari has dragged Nigeria into an issue which ordinarily ought not to concern Nigeria as a constitutionally secular state….

Buhari has unilaterally, against the provisions of the1999 Constitution he swore to uphold, declared Nigeria to be a Sunni Muslim State…

Buhari is digging the grave of Nigeria!!!!!!!!

  • Omoba1

I got so much respect for Premium Times, but after reading this write up, I cannot believe the editors allows this to be published. What is this fear about islamising the nation which appears to be the reason for this publication.

It cannot happen. It is widely known that Nigeria comprises of equal amount of Christians and Muslims. Nobody can decide to christianised or Islamised the country.

The president is only supporting to fight against terrorism. Terrorism is a global issue. Saudi Arabia, who has been quiet over this issues for many years has recently observed that there is a threat waiting to explode. Nigeria must provide support anywhere against terrorism, we have witnessed and still witnessing the grave danger of harbouring terrorists.

Please I am utterly disappointed with Premium Times for this news publication.

    • New Nigerian

I agree with your disappointment in PT for the spin on the news. There are elements of premium times that are bigots, unfortunate but true and their ignorance of Islam and Muslims that are their fellow countrymen and neighbours, even employers are shall we say mind boggling. If you recall the media chat he had, PT attendees gave the leading question of banning wearing of hijabs due to Boko Haram. And Buhari said he would consider it. So these bigots get their sick entertainment from fanning unnecessary religious sentiments to a clear case of statesmanship. We should count Nigeria lucky to have someone like Buhari at the helms at this time, someone who is taken seriously in every capital of UN member States the world over. Did we not just have the ineffectual Buffoon who was not taken seriously by anyone?!

      • Omoba1

Thank you. I have read the publication twice and listened to the president’s interview thrice. It is shocking how wicked the minds of people can be. The world left us with our struggle with Boko Haram, now that the military is winning the Americans are here to provide training. How about the United Nations sending a coalition force to every terrorist location in the world. Saudi Arabia is considering sending a coalition force and we will not be part of it because some religious bigots thinks the president wants to Islamise the country?

        • Fairgame

If Boko Haram has been defeated what is the need of Nigeria joining the Islamic coalition force? Or are you saying Boko Haram has not been defeated? Lying liars like you will perish surely with chief liar Buhari.

Secondly if a shiite is elected president in nigeria in future, he or she will then join another coalition that will headed by iran abi.

    • Etomi

You are feigning political correctness, besides the fact that you sound very idiotically patronizing and condescending!!!!!

Which terrorism is Saudi Arabia fighting? If I may ask?

Is Saudi Arabia having to deal with the equivalent of BH, or ISIL or Al Shabab tormenting its citizens or unleashing terror within its territories…or is it experiencing lone-wolf terror incidences as we’ve had in recent times in places like France, the US, Israel, etc?

What is terrorism if not the Islamic ideology of hate and nihilism grounded in the Wahhabi/Salafist doctrine as developed in Saudi Arabia in the 18th/19th Centuries and which establishes the House of Saud’s monarchy in Arabia?

Saudi Arabia has no problem of civil strife within its territory; but it is on record that that country is fighting proxy wars in Syria and Yemen (as it does in other parts of the Muslim world) just to trounce the Shiites power base in those places…..

For instance, while Saudi Arabia is funding and backing the Sunni rebels to oust the Alawite (Shiite) government of Bashar Al Asaad in Syria; and while it is fighting the Shiite Houthis in Yemen; Al Asaad and the Houthis have the strong financial backing of powerful Iran..

In fact it is said that ISIL is being sponsored by a coalition of Saudi and Turkish governments, which ISIL is backing the Syrian rebels to oust Asaad….

If ISIL enjoys the imprimatur of Saudi Arabia, then which terrorism is the latter fighting?

Saudi Arabia is the prime promoter of Salafism/Wahhabism (i.e the terrorist ideology); and you are here fooling yourself with cheap talk that the country is fighting terrorism…

Besides, Obama’s America is by no means fighting ISIL (forget about the make-believe), because Obama’s US is in cahoots with Saudi Arabia (a key funder/promoter of ISIL), which is why Russia joined the fray, KNOWING IN TRUTH that Obama’s America was lying to the world that it is fighting ISIL….

If you are fooled not everyone is….

The Saudi coalition is a Sunni coalition posturing to stamp out Shiism anywhere it is found in the Muslim world!!!!!!!

This Buhari would not learn. Would Nigeria have joined the coalition if it were a Christian war against terrorism? Saudi Arabia and it’s allies created ISIS and other terror group to fight their regional and economic battles in Syria and Iraq. And now that the Russian are pushing back ISIS, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and their cohorts are trying to defend ISIS saying they want to destroy what they created. I hope Buhari doesn’t take the Nigerian people for granted….He should also know that we know the Shiite /Sunni Islamic rivalry playing out in Nigeria. And now we know that Boko haram is Sunni inspired. If he should aligned with the Sunnis against the Shiites, I hope he will able to withstand the backlash.

  • Sparzo

    Much ado about nothing!

  • lalabe

What is really wrong about this move is that Buhari took the decision without consulting the National Assembly. Upon assumption of duty, he took out a $2.1 billion dollar loan without consulting National Assembly. Recently too, he paved the way for northern states to take development loan from Islamic Development Bank, again without consulting National Assembly. The most shocking aspect of it is that the Nigerian lawmakers themselves are not complaining. The crucial decisions that should have been handled by the National Assembly are being made by Buhari alone, with Danjuma and Dangote in the background. OBJ is not complaining too. So Buhari was lying when he said he was a converted democrat. What a country!

    • New Nigerian

Some things are executive decisions. Like, GEJ unilaterally established an ambassadorial post at the Vatican for the Catholics. The Vatican officially the Vatican City State, is a walled enclave within the city of Rome. With an area of approximately 44 hectares, and a population of 842…and Jonathan sent an ambassador there, the first time ever. You did not hear the Muslims saying their feelings were hurt and that GEJ was Christianizing Nigeria. So wait for parity of that – which is PMB sending a resident Nigerian ambassador to Makkah also unilaterally – because this has to do with religion. I know he would not. What he has done is to join forces to defeat clear and present danger to ALL Nigerians…he was on point when he said, let the religious bigots go and fight the Boko Haram. We elected him to eliminate Boko Haram, being a General and Commander in Chief he would do whatever he considered wise to achieve that goal

      • Damilola

You people are just pure charlatans, sending representative to Holysee has constituted a Christian alliance? But that of Iran and Saudi ruled by same equivalent of the Vatican in leadership is not Islamic right?

  • Prophet

  • Otile

People have now seen that Buhari is an embarrassment outside the shores of Nigeria. Why can’t they put him on leash so that he can’t open his stinky mouth to utter rot outside? This nonsense has got to stop.

  • ALBERT

There are two things that will kill Nigeria and any nation if not regulated and overcome; corruption and religion. These two scourges are he bane of over 90% of our woes, conflicts, under development and stunted growth. What fueled Insurgencies and ethnic conflicts; corruption and religion. Boko Haram rode on the shoulders of religion but corruption was the bane on our inability to fight and defeat the scourge. It is unfortunate that, in Nigeria w have developed a culture of viewing decisions, appointments by any President through the prism of ethnicity and religion and not on his usefulness or what it seeks to cure. Has any of us visited IDPs? We have over 4 million Nigerians as refugees in Cameroon, Niger, Chad, Benin Republic and all across Nigeria with no hope of ever reuniting with their families again. Scores of villages and towns burnt down and their farms, animals and sources of livelihood destroyed. Those preaching politics of religion, have their children in schools and their families enjoy a normal life. These 4 million IDPS as they are no longer addressed as Nigerians enjoy no such normal lives as they cant even remember the last time, they slept in any place call home or attended any church or jumat services with their families. The President is now looking for partnership to resolve the problem of BH, we now hear songs of PMB trying to islamise Nigeria. When PMB was invited to the US by Obama, we heard these emergency religious activists advising the President to decline the request citing gay. Yet 95% of them have their children there and visit the US for vacation and medical visits. When PMB visited the mIddle East, we heard them say, PMB wants to islamise Nigeria, yet most of them have houses, property in Middle East. Nigerians especially those from Xtian backgrounds are living in NE, NW, NC Nigeria, Asia,Middle East, West Africa, North Africa,Indonesia, Malaysia and Turkey. Has any Nigerian being forced to convert into moslems before he can settle in these places? Please Mr President, any action that will help end these insurgencies in the NE is most welcome even if it means going into alliance with the Hindus, native doctors, traditionalists etc. Why are these religious bigots not bothered on the religion of farmer who produces or vendors of yam, tomatoes, garri, onions, beef, fish, recharge cards, cement, sands, building materials etc.. Something should be wrong with our system, if we continue to transact and go into business with each other based on religion.

Those who maintain a high dose of circumspection and vigilance in their watchful assessment of Buhari and his presidency remain the only intellectually chaste Nigerians around….and their vigilance is not misconceived, but an informed one!!!

Perhaps they might still be the only ones alive to their sensory registers….

It is one thing to perceive (both grown-ups and babies have that capacity as percipient beings); but it is another to make the right inferences; to draw the right meanings; to be imbued with understanding. Only grown-ups, not babies, have the capacity for understanding….

It is unfortunate that you come across as one trapped in the limited infantile world of mere perception….

      You lack understanding….

If you believe that Saudi Arabia is fighting terrorism and thus leading an anti-terrorism coalition, then I should say that your credulity is a product of rank ignorance….

Please get more interested in global geopolitics….

      It would aid your understanding…..

      • ALBERT

Your verbosity and condescending tone could have been meaningful if you were able state the ulterior objectives and motives of PMB dragging Nigeria to join a Saudi Arabia led coalition of 34 Islamic countries to fight against terrorist organisations? Have you read the scope, objectives and terms of reference of the said military coalition which was formed in December 2015? Is your problem the nomenclature or the use of the word Islamic ? Your expert knowledge on geo-politics would have informed you that, Saudi Arabia is the capital of the Islamic faith, a leading ally in the US and the West in the fight against terrorism. Your expert knowledge in geo-politics would have informed that, the world is facing an onslaught from radical Islamic terrorists organisations with roots in Islamic countries .Common sense demands that, countries were these radical and extremists terrorists organisations operate, funded and recruit militia should form a coalition to fight these menaces. as charity should begin from home. Your expert knowledge in geo-politics would have informed you that, to fight against a scourge like terrorism require global partnership , regional and international coalitions, networking and sharing critical intelligence. Your expert knowledge in geo-politics should have also inform you the said 34 countries in spite of being Islamic states have been the worst affected and devastated by these attacks. It is unfortunate that, most of us speak out of emotions. Nigeria is the only country amongst the 34 member coalition whose territory has been occupied effectively and controlled by Boko Haram, with its soldiers fleeing to Cameroon. Nigeria is the only country with over 4 million IDPs as result of these terrorists attacks. When PMB `failed` to attend a meeting organised by an NGO to discuss Boko Haram within the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, emergencies arm chair critics were at rooftops pontificating and even calling for Buhari and the Nigeria UN Rep to resign. Your expert knowledge in geo-politics would have informed you that, over 60% of Nigerian forex is spent on the procurement of military soft hardware abroad. Have you visited the North East? or any of the IDPs? If not, then you should keep quiet.

You would have done well better than Shehu. Maybe if he knew what you knew, the presidency wouldn’t have been reported to deny this controversy all along. What you failed to remember in all ur epistles is, why the govt denied such ambition in Nigeria by his media men, and concur to it in Qatar? No matter how widely thought you are, if u can’t fix it right you become a cheap charlatan. Why was it denied? Must we join the association to silent these guys as campaigned? If yes, what is the diplomatic mission in Saudi up to? The purpose of the Islamic coalition against Islamic terrorism, I don’t get, is it to talk to terrorists through quran or what? Is there an Islamic code to decipher these twist- terrorism? Now we are member, is Saudi going to supply us Ammunitions and intelligence, then our economy is dire, we can as well join the Islamic banking. A man who considers “hard luck” for Nigerian children, just like his children, to enjoy the steady payment of their tuition among others, is not in tandem with anything humane, a bloke who kills unarmed protesters he acknowledged to be ignorant and childish, is too shallow minded to consider the IDPs in his dealings. How do I trust leader who signs an accord with Qatar on Airways that doesn’t exist in Nigeria, but privates, a purely 100% benefit Qatar, 0.1% loss for Nigeria. How do a sane mind trust such a saggy bloke to respect his people for a pact that reflects her foreign policy? I still wait to see what be one of this charade, that was forming denied and now succumb

The Vatican is an Independent state and not a coalition and has and receive envoys from all across the world. According to International Protocols and conventions, Heads of state, Heads of Govt and President do not sign Accords, Agreements but Treaties. All bilateral agreements are signed by Ministers. Sometimes we pretend not to understand the workings of govt, its bureaucracy and the thinking and discussions that go into the formulation, drafting and signing of agreements, that, there is a technical committee of experts, a ministerial committee coordinated by the Minister for foreign Affairs and high level meeting specifically to consider, deliberate and adopt the documents (Accords, Agreement) before signature. The ministers brief and seek opinions of the President before signature.

A coalition is simply an alliance whether permanent or temporary to fight for a common purpose. The coalition could adopt any nomenclature its decide. Britain, France, USA during the 1st world war decided to name their coalition the Allied while Germany, Italy, Japan named theirs the Axis. There are several coalitions across the world based on race, religion, region or profession. To wit, why did the Nigeria, Chad ,Niger, Cameroon coalition to fight BH adopt Lake Chad as the common denominator? It is a fact that, BH, ISIS, AL SHABAB , AL QUEDA are all Islamic terrorist organisations. Fighting terrorism is not just a battle of weapons but winning the hearts and minds. American or Saudi-led coalition simply means that, they will contribute the largest men and resources. With the state of the economy, can Nigeria survive spending over 70% of its resources on fighting and executing a war which shall eventually end up in a round table? The president is not only the legal representative of Nigeria, Nigerians but also the Highest Contracting Party and Commander in Chief. The Nigerian constitution defines Nigeria as multi cultural, multi ethnic and multi religious and not a secular state. All these bigotry from so-called religious leaders who were part of the mismanagement and profiteers of the war against BH must be drown to the dustbins. Was it the private jet of a CAN President being used to launder money meant to fight BH? When Jonathan was flying these religious contractors to the Holy land for prayers, No FUSE? When Jonathan attended OIC , the first Nigerian President to do so, there were no fuse? We should not be pretending, Nigeria is on her knees and need help badly. Our military is not capable neither does it have the capacity to defeat BH. Nigerians have been hoping that, Europe and USA will put boots on the ground. Lets us grow beyond politics of religion, ethnicity and sentiments. Nigeria need help..

If only these charlatans would learn bro…

We Nigerians are gifted in looking for examples and inspirations from far away instead of looking at the mirror to get inspiration from what they are seeing. We have experienced over 99 religious and ethnic bloody ethnic since Independence including a civil war. were they fueled by shiites and sunnis conflicts? Is Boko Haram fueled by sunni and shiites? Nigeria is not a religious country, it is we, who make Nigeria religious. Are the over 4 million Nigerians displaced and thousands killed by BH eliminated because of their affinity to any of these bodies? Left to me, religion should be relegated and expunged from every public activity and functions. When you visit the mall or our local market, do you ask the vendor the religion of the producer or manufacturer of the produces or item you want to buy? Pilgrimage is the 5th pillar in Islam and every moslem living or dead aspire to visit mecca. Where is mecca? Middle East is not Africa and Yemen,Lebanon is not Nigeria.

          • Damilola

I will just assume i didn’t get all u wanted to say, maybe somethings are missing in delivering. If not this doesn’t seems complete. What are u saying precisely? Are u saying what is evident in Yemen and the likes mentioned could not play out here given the emerging incidences within and without our shores? Whatever ur thought is, u are entitled to it.

  • This coalition is Islamic, we’re not an Islamic nation, neither are we of any particular religion as a nation. Despite all its good intentions, this coalition isn’t something Nigeria should join by reason of its very name.
For example, which military rules will guide member soldiers (Nigerian soldiers especially), Islamic military rules?
Our president should seek other options. Joining a fighting group under the banner of any religion is not an option.

The whole interview just represents a dilly imbroglio any Dictator or conman could find himself. The man looked so surprised the lady was drilling him that length. He seems like someone who believes he is infallible and unquestionable. The name Buhari is too mild for this god, an Aso Rock tenant.

  • MushinSpeaks

I hope we can comporehend to understand that Buhari is not changing the religious stance of the country but putting clear measures in place to ensure insurgency- that has been ravaging the north and sparing no gender, race, religion or ethnicity is totally eliminated.
