Why EFCC arrested PDP’s Uche Secondus

The immediate past acting chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, arrested Tuesday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, illegally received 23 luxury vehicles valued at N310 million from controversial businessman, Jide Omokore, PREMIUM TIMES has learnt.

A source at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, said the vehicles included a Mercedes G63 and a Range Rover Autobiography.

“His (Mr. Secondus) name popped up while we were investigating Jide Omokore who lifted crude oil repeatedly through his Atlantic Energy but failed to remit the money to the government,” said the source.

Nigerian government insiders had told PREMIUM TIMES two weeks ago that Mr. Omokore had been compelled ‎to release $14 million crude oil royalty his company, Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Nigeria Limited, failed to remit to the federal treasury.

Mr. Secondus was picked up by the anti-graft operatives on Tuesday after investigators suspected he had served as a conduit for laundering Mr. Omokore’s funds.

“Mr. Omokore distributed money and gifts to politicians and investigators are suspicious that actually those money and vehicles might have passed through him (Mr. Secondus) to other politicians,” the source said.

Mr. Omokore incorporated his company in 2010 and, shortly afterwards, signed a Strategic Alliance Agreement with the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, the upstream production subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Under the agreement, Atlantic Energy took charge of providing funds, technical services, drill, and selling of crude from four oil blocks – ‎OML 26 FHN, OML 30 Shoreline, OML 34 Niger-Delta Oil, and OML 42 Neconde.

The company was later accused of lifting crude oil but remitting only a fraction of its worth to the Nigerian government.

Mr. Secondus is currently undergoing interrogation at the Commission’s headquarters.

Reacting to Mr. Secondus’ arrest, the PDP criticized the federal government’s “oppressive and unfair treatments” of its key leaders.

In a statement on Wednesday, the party said the arrest was part of a grand script by the All Progressives Congress-led government to decimate the opposition.

“We are also aware that plans have been perfected by the federal government to arrest and detain the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio and other leaders of the party on imaginary charges,” the party said in the statement signed by Victor Kwon, its National Legal Adviser.

“Indeed, intelligence available to the party shows that the federal government, using its various agencies, is bent on destroying any opposition to the ruling party as all indications show that the government is more interested in humiliating the PDP than fighting corruption.”

  • Akatikpo

Pettiness at its height. The way APC is going, no sitting government will ever agree to hand over power. They have spoilt the solid democratic foundation laid by the gentleman Jonathan. We are back to full blown military rule in the guise of fighting corruption. APC should tell Nigerians who donated all the luxury cars they rolled out for their campaigns.

    • Olusola

      Go and sit down thief!

    • Audu

When you loose presidential election, refuse to vacate and see what will happen to you. Presidential position is not a license to share federal money to party men.

      • Akatikpo

No sitting government will ever lose not to talk of vacating. If Jonathan so desperately wanted to win, he would have simply removed JEGA and the sky will not fall. JEGA aided APC victory. Buhari appointed his niece as acting chairman and the sky did not fall. PDP is getting more sympathizers everyday. Keep fooling yourself.

        • Adewale

Which sympathizer? People like you who shared stolen wealth of the country with them can only do that as your free source of ill gotten income is gone for good. Better return your own loot before you’re arrested too. You don’t know that PDP is a dead party already. Nigeria needs a credible opposition; not one like PDP that are nest of looters.

          • share Idea

If gullible people are not beginning to regain their sanity, why is APC losing so many re-conducted elections even in northern Nigerian.

          • Reason-ability

            Which Northern Nigeria?

          • share Idea

I guess Taraba is part of SE or did not follow the result of last rerun by INEC last week

  • Mama Kay

The question PDP should answer is were your guys guilty of theft or not.

They were so carried away by their imaginary 60 year ruling of Nigeria that all caution was thrown to the wind.

This should be a lesson for others that you will account for your stewardship one day, so be cautious in your dealings.

  • Paul Young

EFCC has limited resources. They should focus on one case at a time. Anyway if they felt the need to arrest and interogate him then he should clear his name if he is innocent. As for me,

I JUST WANT TO ENJOY THE DIVIDENDS OF DEMOCRACY

    • Prophet

The dividends of democracy are in these peoples pockets.

  • monicaterna4u

this is the height of injustice how can EFCC be asking for the buses that the PDP used on campaign for what is it not the parties campaign how does the problem or management of the party EFCCs problem,, they should leave PDP alone and face the crises we are having in the country, first of all during GEJ corrupt period Dollar was #125 now that there is no corruption according to APC and EFCC dollar is #400 Nigerians Imagine, during GEJ businesses were moving but now nothing is happening , during GEJ salaries were been paid as at wen due but APC want to even reduce salaries not to even talk of paying on time i can go on and on

Nigeria are being to see and know that the APC are just weakling that dragged power even wen they know they are not due in handling affairs of the country

    • Fadama

  • vincent boniface

It is crystal clear that this government is bent on fish-tailing members of the opposition party that they felt are bones in their throat. Uche secondus made a statement on the 13th of February saying”Nigerians are in dare need of PDP” and barely a week later he was arrested by EFCC. This is pure witch-hunting, and a way to silence the opposition party. This is not healthy for our hard earned democracy that was held in high esteem for sixteen years by PDP.

    • Prophet

      you are a silly boy.

    • Fadama

Long may this ‘witch hunting’ continue. So, you call what we’ve had in the last 16 years democracy? Where PDP have manipulated the courts; some of their members getting injunctions against prosecution; ministers and cronies organising sham recruitment exercises, etc. Please, stop joking around

      • flexy

You’re deluded! Do you know the cost of One Mercedes G63? I forgot am addressing stack illiterates, whose money is that? • share Idea

Since when did gift become a crime in Nigeria?

        • e_orpheus

Since the gift began being procured using my money, royalties from lifting crude oil and intended for deposit with the CBN.

        • Reason-ability

Since 23 cars to one person can never be a gift but a bribe, a kickback or theft

          • share Idea

Please can you define what you call bribe. So giving cars to party official is now bribe to you even if we are to believe the story.

    • ayo

      What a waste of a human being….

    • e_orpheus

You sound as shamelessly hollow and ridiculous as one ‘Say the truth’ fellow also on this forum.
      Just stay away.

      • Sambo

What do you know about the truth. U’ve been vail-covered by the so-called war on corruption I can see.

        • e_orpheus

I’m no expert Mr Sambo, but I know taking without authorization from the owner is a corrupt act.

      • monalisa

you are baboon , speaking from your anus. You are one of those Fela classified as suffering and smiling. Have you ever as ask yourself why EFCC is chasing shadow and leaving the object? Donation of vehicles for presidential campaign that is applicable to all party EFCC is arresting Secondus. While people that have led crippled Nigeria e.g OBJ, IBB etc are freely going about and the fucking APC are saying they are fighting corruption. You are the one that need to be out of this forum. cos mu have a shallow brain

        • e_orpheus

Leave monkeying around and anal tales for another day monalisa. Keep your eyes on the ball.
While investigating a crime you follow where the evidence leads and not just go pounding at someone’s door because of hearsay and sentiment. Whoever the trail leads to will be invited for questioning and the authorities will take it from there. So far nothing suggests that I fail to give support to Mr Magu in his current drive.
O, and for the record, purchasing, donating and being in possession of vehicles obtained from the proceeds of crime is an offence.

        • Reason-ability

Are you intent on being obtuse for a reason or is there a problem with reasoning here? Jide Omokore should have paid proceeds of the crude oil he lifted into NNPC account (Nigerian oil, Nigerian money) instead he was asked to use some part of it to give 23 luxury cars to Uche Secondus for the PDP. This is a case of stealing public funds by Omokore and Secondus received stolen goods. Secondus will be let off in court because it is the court that can unravel whether he knew or ought to have known that the cars were proceeds of theft. How do you know what Omokore has told EFCC? I can just imagine him saying that he was ordered to provide the cars to the PDP in which case Secondus knew the goods were “hot goods” that he ought not to have taken. Kickback is a crime please. Also if Secondus received a gift surely one car was good enough for a birthday? Any sane person would know that 23 cars is not a gift but a bribe or a blackmail. Haba! Why are we not outraged by the madness that took over Nigeria. It is because OBJ and others after him made no attempt to prosecute robbers that GEJ was able to be controlled by Alibaba’s grandchildren who are now so numerous. With the number of corruption and robbery sympathisers on this forum Nigeria is really in trouble. We must kill corruption because is is almost killing us.

  • Prophet

It is true that mostly PDP members are getting arrested but when you look at it from the perspective that the crimes we are talking about are related to the federal Government (not state) and add the fact that PDP was in control of the federal Government for the past 17 years who else do you expect EFCC to arrest?

The EFCC can not state arresting innocent people from other parties just to level the field and cater to some morons idea of fairness. No! The EFCC is arresting criminals and they know themselves. Look at PDP has already released a least of the next crooks in line for arrest within their midst.

Thanks for the list, PDP, if you don’t mind, we will wait for the official one from EFCC!

It looks like we might have to add an extension to Kuje prison to accomodate all these people.

    • Ukpaka

Thanks for your comment. It looks like some people are keeping score by party affiliation. It was clearly stated in the article that Uche Secondus’ name came up during the interrogation of Jide Omokore. It’s not like EFCC randomly arrested him because he’s in PDP.
Some people need to be ignored in this forum because their comments rarely have anything to do with the subject or topic being discussed. I’m understanding why these guys were in same political party because they all obviously share same goal: insatiable appetite for stealing from the poor and wanting to be recognized as ‘important’.

    • Sambo

Who were the then PDP? was it not the likes of Tinubu amaechi and others. Talk with facts. Don’t be blinded by this distraction called corruption fight.

      • Peter_Edo

Tinubu has NEVER been in the PDP

      • Man_Enough

Even if tinubu and amaechi stole, does it mean stealing by others should be legalized? Why didn’t Jonathan try them?

  • Ukpaka

It’s sad the victims are always the first to defend the crooks. 90% of the Nigerian so-called ‘big men’ are mere criminals. Glad they’re being exposed one by one. No mercy!

  • favourtalk

He was only covered when he was the acting chairman of PDP but the truth can never be covered, let him come and answer for his crimes. Nobody is above the law again in Nigeria, hope didn’t hear that our senate president is even facing the law

    • Sambo

@favourtalk If nobody is above the law, mr president should probe those in his own cabinet. why are the likes of Amaechi, Tinubu, Chris ngige and others been given immunity against arraignment by the efcc

    • monalisa

You are a nincompoop, do i here you say nobody is above the law? If EFCC says they are fighting corruption and not witch-hunting why don’t they go and arrest IBB, Obasanjo, TY danjuma, abdulsalami etc are this people not corrupt?

  • Say the truth

APC is making a mockery of itself. The so called fight against corruption has finally derailed. For every frivolous reasons key opposition party members are being picked at will by EFCC that has become political and a tool in the hand of the ruling party. Without any doubt this is political witch hunt. All political parties received gifts from donors including Buhari and APC. Buhari and Oshibajo used aircrafts that cost I million per hour during the campaigns. Where did Buhari and APC. got the money from? Late Umar Yaardua declared over 20 cars as donation for election in his asset declaration sheet. Why can’t PDP as a party receive donations for its elections purposes.

    • e_orpheus

On the contrary ‘truth sayer’, you are the only one making a mockery of yourself, whether out of ignorance or by way of a corruption-prone mindset or both.
Rather than the fight against corruption, it is your perception of it that is derailed and void of reason.
Name one ‘frivolous’ charge that has been brought against anyone so far detained in the course of the anti corruption campaign. Is it so difficult to appreciate why majority of those invited by the efcc happen to belong to the PDP? Is it likely that APGA and KOWA politicians would have been in a position to partake in the mindless pilfering being unearthed?
Shame on you for falsely accusing the efcc of misconduct. You may not be familiar with the concept of following the trail of breadcrumbs, or in this case following the money trail. ‘Witchhunt’ – has been annoyingly abused by you and your ilk, looking for any opportunity to sound mainstream opposition.
And then you go off blabbing some concocted nonsense about ‘million per hour aircrafts’ and Yaaradua’s 20 cars. As if not bad enough you have the audacity to support a political party being funded with money that was originally designated for purchasing arms for our armed forces, or otherwise the collective patrimony of all Nigerians.
Please take a break and reflect on your values.

      • Sean

What a post! Grammatically authentic, richly informative and mostly composed by a grammatically articulate individual, I doff my cap and pray to be as sound as you! God bless

  • The biafrans and stealing cannot be separated.

  • Omooba Adekunle Orafidiya

EFCC has no case against Secondus. Even Omokore’s case is tenuous. Senile, illiterate certificate forger and perjurer MuhamMadu (alias Customs and Exercise, French Franc, Deutch Mark and President Michelle of Western Germany) Buhari should desist from this spate of indiscriminate arrests.

    • You are a biafran. Change your name. Don’t be ashamed of your dirty tribe.

      • MilitaryPolice01

How do you know he is a biafran,do you mean to say there are no yorubas that disagree with Buhari. You look at a whole tribe and you label them dirty yet you call yourself peace

        • Omooba Adekunle Orafidiya

I*d*I*o*ts like @Peace_3 should not be dignified with responses. Just ignore him.

          • Sean

Shut d fcuk up, you’re a bloody biafran in disgraceful disguise

  • Devil made biafrans and put them in charge of stealing

    • Peter_Edo

Jide is Yoruba and all decent Yoruba folk that. I know do not give a hoot about him. They say he should face the music that he created

  • Omooba Adekunle Orafidiya

I believe the time is drawing nearer when Nigerians will start fighting (I mean beating up) EFCC operatives (who are invariably all Hausas). Senile, illiterate certificate forger and perjurer MuhamMADu (alias Customs and Exercise, French Franc, Deutch Mark and President Michelle of Western Germany) Buhari seems bent on imposing anarchy on Nigeria. He should be preparing for the consequences.

    • Sean

I told you earlier to shut d fcuk up as you’re and will remain a bloody minority biafran in disgraceful disguise, you comments carry no weight, we relevant and majority poor and rich Nigerians have voted Buhari and he shall remain, if you don’t like that go back to Cameroun or Gabon.. Shut d fcuk up finally

  • Tafidan Dogon Daji

I can not understand this type of war against graft. It’s like a raging fire seemingly at the doors of the opposition.
It’s a pity that the fire is burning beyond bounds without recourse to the fire brigade whistles. Our law courts say,Col Dasuki should go on bail to attend to his cancer problems but the custodian of the Rock says no;that,we are fighting corruption.Fight against graft against a cancer patience?I don’t understand!

Dasuki said he gave Buhari 300 million and 2 SUV for Campaign and nobody is saying anything about , so tell me if this fight is not just against the PDP but the bus used by the PDP party denoted by a member for campaign is now the public issue of EFCC

Please Nigerians how is PDP party campaign the issue of EFCC if it is not witch-hunting from the APC

    • tundemash

Can u paste that link here where Dasuki told u he gave Buhari N300m and 2 SUV or are u still relying on those fake AiT stories they have now recanted ????

      • divinity

AIT only withdrew their statement against Tinubu, and not that with Buhari, do not generalize pls

        • tundemash

So where is the link to the statement of Dasuki, kid ?

          • Awolo

Tundemess, Tundemess, Tundemess. How many times did I call you? Be truthful to yourself and tell your godfather Buhari to stop using EFCC to distract the gullible Nigerians while he is busy doing nothing. He was not voted to create more enemies among Nigerians than they were before he was smuggled into governance. Tell him that by clamping down on his political opponents, while treating the criminals in his party with kid gloves, he has already incurred the wrath of those Nigerians who erroneously voted him into power.

          • tundemash

Mor0n, give us the link and stop hallucinating.
Buhari promised to fight corruption and it was on that basis Nigerians voted for him and he’s doing exactly that! If jailing those that stole your destiny is what you termed “create more enemies among Nigerians ” so be it !!!

          • FactsandFigures

If I remember correctly…..Adesina replied that Buhari received what was “constitutionally” his due. According to Sahara Reporters, Dec 15 – “Presidency Confirms Buhari Didn’t Take Money From Dasuki, But Got Two SUVs After Boko Haram Attacks In Kaduna”

          • tundemash

All former Presidents, including Dumbo, are entitled to housing and car accommodation as enshrined in our constitution so drawing a parallel of that with money dole out to Dokpesi, Falae, Secondus, Metuh is to say the least mischievous and stup1d!

          • FactsandFigures

It came from the same bag….the truth is that Dasuki should not have doled it…….and Buhari should not have accepted it. Whatever entitlements that is due to our presidents should not come from the “security” purse.

          • tundemash

Cl0wn, if it true Dasuki paid for those cars constitutionally aproved, he ought to say that in court not to you at the amanesty camp and what happened to the original allocation for those cars. And equating funding the ex-presidents cars as approved in the constitution to funding PDPs campaign is to say the least d@ft !

          • FactsandFigures

It does not change the truth….it still should not have come from the security purse. Don’t worry…….Buhari will not do so again(I hope!)

          • tundemash

Could you let us know where it should have come from please.

          • FactsandFigures

The constitution states – “The Federal Government of Nigeria shall in its annual budget make provision for the remuneration of former Heads of State and former Vice Presidents……..”
Under this budget ….. Buhari is entitled to …..” Three vehicles to be bought by the Federal Government and liable to be replaced every four years”
President/VP(both past and future) has a budgetary allocation……it is not domiciled under the security budget.
I am not arguing that Buhari is not entitled to the vehicles but that it came from the wrong source….just like NCC should not have been sidelined in whatever negotiations the government is having with MTN. It is better for us to accept the wrongs done in the past and correct it going forward….otherwise we will find it impossible to improve.

          • tundemash

Why are u trying to be clever when u are not ?
The question was “Could you let us know where it should have come from please” and you now quoted a section of the constitution that madeNO MENTION of where that budgetary allocation for the cars for ex. Presidents is domiciled but you concluded it isn’t domiciled under security budget. Ain’t quite you desperate to nail someone by all means ???
And are ex-Presidents told what budgetary allocations their cars come from or are they able to telly-guide the incumbent on where the money from the cars should be sourced from ?
What budgetary allocations did the cars bought for Gowon, Shagari, IBB, Abdusalam, Shonekan come from ???

          • FactsandFigures

I just gave you an answer but you refused to see it. Are you saying that the monthly payments and all other entitlements due to Presidents/VPs came from the Security budget? Come on, you are better than this. No, I am not desperate to nail anybody, what could I possibly gain from that? Regardless, we are going around in circles and it serves no one. I still maintain my stand, I will leave you to yours.

          • tundemash

I am NOT surprised you decided to dodge once you were asked a pointed question that needs to ambiguity; What budgetary allocations did the cars bought for Gowon, Shagari, IBB, Abdusalam, Shonekan come from ??? How come those that gave you the Buhari narration didn’t tell you if the source of money forBuhari’s cars is different from that of other ex-Presidents and yet you had no sense to ask ?

          • FactsandFigures

Nobody gave me the Buhari narration, I read it on Sahar and other news sites. So all the other cars for Gowon et al came from the same security pocket? If so, I did not read it anywhere…..how curious it is that that particular piece of information is “redacted”? Quit while you are ahead.

In the eyes of the President, Lai Muhammed and APC it is wadata plaza that is corruption headquarters in Nigeria. Why don’t the President ponder a little to consider some of the criminals who are his sacred cows and try them on corrruption let Nigerians know that for real he meant business of fighting and winning anti graft war.

  • tazo

buhari is your time to do d arrest. pray after our tenure you should be one to d great beyond if not at d age of Abraham you will be arrested.if not you ur co workers. pple like ameachi should flex o 99days for d thief 1 day for d owner.

  • ISHAKU BELLO

Anti graft war had long lost sanctity with the serial trial of PDP executives until the latest arrest of Secondus have no serious case against them but since Mr President wants it so it therefore means the EFCC only have to arrest anybody in as much as the individual is not a member of the PDP.

    • Angelina

That’s just it, they do exactly wat mr tourist buhari tells them to do

  • divinity

our affinity for political parties rather than the interest of the country has really made us irrational and lacking in sense of true judgement. even if we agree that the government should fight corruption, that does not mean we should turn blind eyes even when things are done wrongly. it could be metuh, secondus, dokpesi etc today, who knows who i could be tomorrow? we have to support the government when they are doing it right, and speak up when they do it wrongly,,, let us define who we are.

    @Seagull,

Selective justice is injustice. Corruption can’t be fought with people like

Raji Fashola and Bola Ahmed Tinubu dressed up in false robes as the

anti-corruption sheriffs in town. That’s insane and laughable, to be sure!

    • Seagull2000

      Buhari is not fighting corruption.
Nigerians should wake up and smell the coffee. Buhari is covering
up corruption on party solidarity basis and therefore legitimizing thefts by
APC party members. Low hanging fruit is nonsense talk. Raji Fashola and
Goodluck Jonathan took office on the same date. How did Goodluck Jonathan
become a low hanging fruit and Raji Fashola became a fruit too high up to be
plucked if not that APC is evolving into a criminal organization?

      • Q & A

IF BUHARI FAILS ON BUDGET PREPARATION: FAILS ON APPOINTING A CABINET SEASONABLY,
FAILS ON TIMELY DELIVERY OF ANY ELECTION PROMISE, FAILS TO DEFEAT BOKO HARAM,
WHAT ELSE WILL NIGERIANS LOOK FORWARD TO, IF HE FAILS ON ANTI-CORRUPTION WAR?

    • O.C Noble

“President Buhari’s thinking process is seriously encumbered by his inability to tolerate the thoughts,
feelings, views and the rights of others. He is unable to understand why others should see things
differently from him. He is at pains as to why others could not genuflect at his snapping of his
finger. He is intellectually constricted to understand why he has to debate his views or his positions
or why he should tolerate those who have the temerity to question his views or stand on anything.
Buhari is already failing as a born again democrat. And from the look of things, “awry” is the word
that describes the state of the APC and Buhari’s administration right now”.

I want to appeal to the EFCC, please! If it is running errands for APC party it should stop it,
otherwise every member of staff in the EFCC will be arrested in three years time for corruption.
There is no way this ramshackle Buhari government can be reelected to continue with this mess.

      • George

HHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMM we pray we get another IBB soon to show this man way out of ASO ROCK.

  • ty

Can you imagine a party like APC which a country like Nigeria is vested on its shoulder to govern, tackling her issues to a stand still, has neglected its official mandate and jumped into victimization of individuals of the opposition party in the name of fighting corruption.

  • My People

But these people being arrested stole something now! So they have to be arrested.
That’s number one. The only thing there, the k-leg is that other people who stole
like them are not being arrested but given many Ministries to run as reward. That
one is not good. Me i can’t agree with that sort of bullshit war against corruption.
Under Buhari one thief will be appointed as super Minister (for stealing well well?)
and another thief who stole less money will be taken to jail. Does Buhari read the
Holy Koran? Where in the Holy Koran did they write that justice must be different
    for APC and for PDP?

Whenever intellectuals gather Buhari will inflict himself by bracing for the microphone. What does he know?
What does he think the world can learn from his banal, distorted and groundless ramble? Buhari needs advice.
He is overcompensating for his inferiority complex. Nigerians who voted for him knew beforehand he’s mediocre.

Yes, EFCC should fish out ALL THIEVES. That’s what Nigerians are saying – not to fish out thieves in PDP only.
Buhari is destroying the EFCC. Buhari is turning EFCC into a partisan organization. This is a terrible thing for
Nigeria. Buhari and his APC are not making any sense in their useless anti-corruption war. All the money stolen
by APC members are still in their pockets. They hypocrite president Muhamadu Buhari is pretending not to see.
Nigerians may need to rise and check Muhamadu Buhari before he turns into a very immoral dictator in Nigeria.

      • blackdove

PDP were the government in power for 16 years when Nigeria had its greatest oil revenue since independence. We cannot afford to return to the dark days of arrest and jail of Nigerians under useless draconian decrees by some mediocre. Lets have a civilized trials in the court of law. They must follow the laws that we have. These fraudsters in government don’t even have faith in the Judiciary. Like it or not, there are 3 tiers of government.

        • tundemash

A cl0wn wandering about US is claiming here somebody else didn’t go to school when he obviously can’t distinguish between PDPigs’ campaign money and money allocated to prosecute war against terror. Did Obama promise u education as part of his campaign to grant pardon to illegal immigrants ? Keep ranting!!

          • Again. Your penchant for vulgarity is very disturbing. With a friend like you, Buhari does not need an enemy. We will not let Buhari take us back to tyranny. We want all charges against his PRISONERS presented before the court of law for trial and prosecution. Buhari has no constitutional rights to incarcerate a Nigerian without due process.

          • tundemash

You a noisy idi0t hiding behind some keyboard in some downtown neighbourhood claiming “e will not let Buhari take us back to tyranny”. ?Olodo, you would prefer the reign of “stealing is not corruption”, isn;t it ?
Keep making noise, it disturbs no one. You made so much noise and yet Metuh was docked and hand-cuffed; Secondus won’t be different.

          • Your ‘messiah’ will answer to the people at the poll when we’ll return our nation to a democracy….. again in 2019. Keep up with your profanity while wallowing in Buhari’s gulag. It’s either “war against indiscipline’ or ‘war against corruption’. It’s always war against something. This man once destroyed our democracy. Who is fooling who? We’ll not let him repeat the same nonesense he did in 1983. We’ll throw him out in 2019.

Hopefully by then Obama would have made good his promise of granting you amnesty so u would be able to vote but for now you don’t count and u got 3 tears more of noise to make so raise the decibel please.

    • Julius

Name one APC member that shared the arms purchase fund . Stop being a joke.

      • “Shared arms purchase fund”? That’s what Buhari is telling us. Try them in courts and not in the media. What about those Governors that looted their States to sponsor Buhari’s campaign. Now, we’ve learnt that workers are not being paid salaries for 7 months. Do you know how many Nigerians that could not feed their families or send their children to schools because they are not being paid salaries?.

        • Reason-ability

You are clearly a paid goon because only money could make a man become unreasonable to this extent. Who is trying who in the media? Are you saying that we have no right to information and that all newspapers should fold their arms and not do their work? What do you mean by media trial? Do you think all the newspapers that are private sectori owned are being paid by the FGN or by Buhari or by APC to conduct media trial? Get a life for God’s sake. If you have stolen money or you have relatives who have stolen money please just leave the online forums and stop annoying sane people who actually want to see this nation have some moral fibre restored to it. Media trial my aunty Fanny!!!

          • I say bring them to court of law for trial. If found guilty, the laws will apply. Incarceration of Nigerians without bail or trial in court is illegal and a violation of civil liberty in all civilization. Only in a BANANA REPUBLIC could this happen.

          • Reason-ability

So what else do you want? Is Methu not in court, Akpobolemi, Dokpesi, Haliru, Yuguda, Dasuki, even Rickey Tarfa? This one too will end up in court. If he is in a hurry to get to court let him file Fundamental Human Rights Application. What do you want for crying out loud. All your crooks have somehow started keeping quiet. Dokpesi is silent and so is Bafarawa and Yuguda etc. Obaigbena is quiet and even returned money. Even Methu is quieter. Why are you defending the indefensible?

          • Buhari’s antecedent is jailing people for 140 yrs. It is the WAILERS that stopped him this time. Buhari has no constitutional powers to incarcerate a Nigerian without due process. Regardless of the crime, a citizen must be arraigned within 48 hrs for bail hearing. Nigeria has become a BANANA REPUBLIC.

  • Basketmouth

Majority of Nigerians have become accustomed to corruption. Basic moral principles required of a public servant has been blotted out of people’s consciousness. Corruption has now become fashionable to the extent that some people even reason that if the entire people of Nigeria are not arrested then the fight against corruption is political witch hunt. Why can’t people see that you cannot leave the person manning the pot to go chase the person that scavenge from the crumbs. I have bad news for people who have eyes but cannot see. The fight against corruption is an express train and for those who are so drunk of corruption and cannot get out of the track, they will be crushed and their memories shall remain ignominious.

    • George

So Tinubu, Fashola, Ameachi, and Buhari himself are not before public servants, mumu like you will always remain confused.

Remember ABACHA this is how it started and Yorubas once praised him to high heaven before he turned against them just watch out this is how this one sided game is going to end.

      • Basketmouth

It’s either you cannot understand simple logic or you are so politically parochial that you are blinded from reality. Buhari has never arrested anyone outside the loop of federal administration. He has not touched any governor on the basis of how they ran their states. So far he has concentrated on corruption inside federal administration. Can you understand? Have a good life alligator.

  • Ms. Tinamani

Please i cannot afford internet credit for some time now. I just want someone to update me on Ricky Tarfa (S.AN).

Has he been jailed? How many years was he given, please? Has his law office been seized as proceed of crime?

How about his law license? Has it been revoked in accordance with the remaining law in Nigeria? Please update!

    • Prophet

Nigeria has more than 1 court and 1 judge…and funny enough, it can handle more than 1 case at a time.

  • Prophet

It is time to remind all that Buhari is an executive. He is not running around arresting people.
What Buhari has done is what he said he would do…which is to allow the law enforcement agencies (none of which he personally created) to do their constitutionally assigned duties without interference or hindrance!

He said he would not instigate nor prevent any investigation and that there were no sacred cows. Those of us shouting “Buhari this” or “Buhari that” should just be quiet and go sit in the corner! They are nothing but fools and tools being used (willfully or not) by criminals to try raise public sympathy.

It is a shameful thing to keep lamenting and crying because Nigerias law enforcement agents and agencies have suddenly started performing their jobs effectively!….a shameful thing!

    • Mal. Musa

May you live long my brother

This is just the arrest of another goat. It is evident that the GEJ’s administration was a total failure. Many of his cabinet members and those close to him had a share of our looted resources. EFCC should do its job well and serve these guys what they rightly and judiciously deserve. CHANGE is here.

  • Alhajivinco

Why should thieves not be arrested simply because they are PDP members? Talking of Jide Omokore and the other members of Dieziani’s inner circle, where is Captain Hosa Okunbor?

  • tsunami1earthquake

I support the anti-corruption fight that is going on and everybody involved in graft of any type and from whatever sources must be prosecuted. But if the fight becomes skewed predominantly towards PDP members and a few arrests of APC members, then observers will begin to suspect a vendetta, a persecution against particular members of society. If the APC government thought financial crimes existed only among PDP members then it should have another think coming. Saraki is being persecuted now because he had worked against the APC interest in the National Assembly; Ekweremadu might be picked up by the EFCC because he benefited from Saraki’s action in the National Assembly. The question one should ask here is: did law enforcement not know that Saraki committed that offence before giving him the usual clean bill of health that enabled him participate in various elections? If Saraki had not ‘committed’ the ‘offence’ of upturning the wishes of the APC in the National Assembly would he be facing these prosecution after another?

Nigeria is a very funny country indeed. The EFCC, as the government’s Gestapo, is used to harass and prosecute offenders who might not have faced such travails had they kowtowed to the wishes of the authorities; and that’s why one finds these thieves decamping to the APC to evade prosecution. This, in itself, is beginning to make the anti-corruption fight a hoax and a glorified way of visiting vendetta on people. All the idea about recovering the loots from thieves is only lip service and a pulling of the wool over people’s eyes.

Yes, Buhari is covered by constitutional immunity but there was a time he was accused of receiving gifts of cars which he accepted. Of course his ‘defenders’ went to town spinning the whole idea away from an idea of committing any offence. We heard them loud and clear.

    • objective

Sincerely,PDP members must expect to be the most sought after in the anti-corruption war, because they are the only party that have been at the centre since 1999. You can’t start to probe APGA, APC or any other party for corruptions committed by PDP at the Federal Level. If anyone has any complaint about other people in the other parties, let them write to EFCC and support their allegations with credible evidence.

      • Julius

Thank you. Folks just running their mouth without thinking.

Efcc is messing up this anti corruption war. You arrested someone simply because he was given car gifts. They suddenly forgot that dictator buhari was given car gifts by dasuki. When court throws away this case for lack of merit, people will be shouting the judiciary is corrupt. Why not look for a solid case against people before you arrest them.

    • George

APC and Buhari has become very shameful thing to Nigerians so no one criminal is found in all the APC till these days but they continue getting criminals every day in PDP.

All the PDP retiree are all saints even Tinubu and Fashola are all saints, this is unwanted change Nigerians found themselves.

      • Julius

Remember that they PDP) were the ones running the country for the past 16 years . You folks always resort back to Tinubu whenever somebody else name pop up about looting. I would expect you to also remember that Tinubu was charged to court by Jonathan, he went to court and cleared his name. He won his case. What else do you people want ? You are one of the folks fake crying about the rule of law. Right ? Write a petition against Fashola if you have the evidence of his looting. Stop this nonsense.
