Nigerian govt. recovers over $14million in unpaid oil royalty from Jide Omokore’s firm

The Nigerian government has succeeded in compelling the Chairman of Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Nigeria Limited, Jide Omokore to cough out over $14m, being crude oil royalty which his company failed to remit to the federal treasury, administration insiders have told PREMIUM TIMES.

High ranking federal officials familiar with the development told this newspaper that the funds were supposed to have been paid between 2011 and 2012 by Atlantic Energy which was, in controversial circumstances, awarded oil assets by the Goodluck Jonathan government shortly after it was incorporated in 2010.

Our sources said the money was finally paid into the Federal Government’s account with JP Morgan Chase on January 29, after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission waded into the matter of recovering taxes due to the Federal Government.

“The investigation of tax defaulters in the dollar-soaked oil industry is continuing,” a source at the EFCC said Wednesday. “Those who failed to willingly pay up stand the risk of arrest and prosecution for tax fraud.”

Operatives of the EFCC had on January 27 questioned Mr. Omokore, an ally of former President Jonathan in connection with a series of multi-billion dollar crude export deals.

Mr. Omokore could not be reached for comments Wednesday. But his company recently issued a statement saying it was getting back on course after submitting its plan to settle outstanding financial commitments to the Nigerian authorities.

Incorporated as Atlantic Drilling Energy Concept Limited on July 19, 2010, it signed a Strategic Alliance Agreement with the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) shortly afterwards. The NPDC is the upstream production subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

Under the agreement, Atlantic took charge of four oil blocks- OML 26 FHN, OML 30 Shoreline, OML 34 Niger-Delta Oil and OML 42 Neconde. It was to provide funds, technical services, drill and sell crude oil.

The company was later accused of lifting crude oil, but remitting only a fraction of its worth to government.
In 2012, according to NNPC insiders, Atlantic Energy paid $168m into the government’s account, but lifted about three million barrels – valued at over $350 million.

In 2013, it also lifted about two million barrels of crude valued at about $240million, but paid only $68million.

Similarly, in 2014, Atlantic Energy paid zero cash-call, but lifted about 500,000 barrels of crude oil, valued at $54 million.

The EFCC recently raided the business premises of Mr. Omokore, making away with documents and computers.

A source also said Mr. Omokore was later instructed by the presidency to reconcile his accounts with NPDC, and immediately pay up the several billions he is owing the Nigerian government for allegedly lifting crude without remitting the proceeds.

PRESIDENCY ARRANGED N100M FOR JAFARU ISA TO REFUND EFFC.

How Jafaru Isa Was Given N300million Contract to Refund N100million to EFCC.

Jafaru Isa, a retired brigadier-general, who was arrested in Abuja penultimate Wednesday by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was reported to have refunded N100 million.

WazobiaReporters has gathered from a close presidency source that Jafaru Isa, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was awarded a contract through the Ministry of Education.

The contract said to be worth over N300 million was allegedly backdated to December, last year.

The contract, from which he got N100 million as mobilization fee was to build facilities in some universities.

“It was this mobilization fund that someone was instructed to go drop with EFCC,” the source said.

It should be recalled that WazobiaReporters had reported on January 11, 2016 that it was the Presidency that packaged the arrest of Jafaru Isa and the N100 million refund to give the impression that the President’s anti-corruption fight was not selective.

A source, who claimed to be in the know, told our reporter that Isa’s arrest by the EFCC and the subsequent refund of N100 million was just packaged to give the impression that the President was not being selective in his fight against corruption.

The source said it was “a script perfectly acted”.

He said a top aide of the president was behind the N100 million refund.

“They arrested him, helped him to refund N100 million and get the story to the press so as to give the impression that the anti-corruption fight is achieving the desired result and that President Buhari was not being selective.

“I challenge EFCC to tell us from whose account the N100 million refund was transferred to the EFCC account. Or are they saying that the N100 million refund was made in cash?

“Was Jafaru Isa keeping the N100 million somewhere since he collected the money from Dasuki and he simply went to where he was keeping it to retrieve it and for the EFCC?

“There are more questions that must be answered by the EFCC and those behind this Jafaru Isa script. The the simple reality is that President Buhari knows the source of the N100 million that was refunded,” the source said

    Jide Omokore’s fraud: Matters Arising

The Buhari government had told Nigerians that JIDE OMOKORE is liable to refund
$4.5 billion; and that Jide Omokore had offered $50million in cash as full and final
repayment – an insulting offer that Buhari government rejected. Therefore, the

a bigger liability. Jide Omokore must refund all of the $4.5billion and no less.

    EDITOR SIR,

May I ask why the most obvious fraud in Nigeria is being overlooked by
the EFCC? It is puzzling to me. After hiding state accounts for eight years,
and resisting accountability in court, Raji Fashola handed over. That was on
the 28th of May, 2015, when, for the first time, he disclosed that he got 2.23
TRILLION NAIRA. Nothing in Lagos state is equal to that huge amount of money,
not the flowers he plucked and planted there. For God’s sake 2.23 TRILLION
NAIRA in the hands of a a honest man who does not steal would change Lagos.

But Lagos state is still the same useless way it was, but now bloody, as
Raji Fashola signaled free stealing. Raji Fashola’s Planning Commissioner told
THE PUNCH newspaper that Lagos’ account tendered was understated. Mr.
Akhabueze, Planning Commissioner, said Lagos in fact got 400billion AVERAGELY
in each of Fashola’s 8 years. That means Raji Fashola hid away a whopping 800
billion Naira from the account he tendered in his handover note. If that is not
the most obvious fraud in Nigeria, I will like to be informed of a more obvious
    one as huge in comparison.

In all of Nigeria’s history, beginning since October 1st 1960, no other criminal nears his gross infamy.
In tandem with Dizeani Allison-Madueke and Goodluck Jonathan, this criminal has set new records.
He is the only known criminal who singly emptied $4.5b = 20% of Nigeria’s treasury at a go.

This criminal of the year does not talk much. He just steals, and, he robs and then plunders.
Ladies and gentlemen, the criminal of the year award 2015 goes to the one and only…
the deadliest of them all, the worst thief Nigeria has ever had: JIDE OMOKORE!!!!!

    MUST BUHARI DISGRACE NIGERIA ALWAYS?

Representing Niger Republic In An Event.

Nigerians living overseas were thrown in shock noticing that President Buhari who traveled with Nigerian tax payers money, will represent Niger Republic in an International event.

Why should our President who traveling cost Nigeria about $8million (N1.7billion) not understand the difference between NIGERIA AND NIGER.

Even the flags around him should have warned him that he must be sitting in a wrong position.

We appreciate that he may be over excited meeting world leaders, but a simple duty of care on his part should have saved Nigeria of this avoidable embarrassment.

President Buhari MUST explain to Nigerians why he refused to see that there is no Nigerian flag on that table, assuming the print on the name tags were too small for him to read.

    • ed

He made a mistake in public. That’s understandable. Plus the frequent travelers issue is getting to him. A younger person wouldn’t try multiple back to back airplane trip without paying a price. President Buhari is reportedly going to see a doctor in England. I’m sure the doctor will advise him to stop and enjoy being President. The minister of foreign affairs and Vice President can represent the president abroad from time to time.

I have said it severally that Buhari is not a Nigerian—He sailed from Niger Republic as a toddler to settle in Nigeria–hence the first name–Mohmed–then when the forgeries started it became Mohammadu–Imagine Buhari going to take over the seat of Niger Republic-at a conference—is he blind– or what-?

Rivers State government yesterday called on the Minister for Transport, Mr Chibuike Amaechi to account for about N3 trillion received throughout his eight years tenure as the governor of the State.

The State Commissioner for Information, Dr Tam George told newsmen in Port Harcourt that the State was still reeling from “the catastrophic legacy of the former governor” despite receiving over three trillion naira in revenue in 8 years.

“Amaechi left the most abandoned projects in the history of Rivers State since 1997. Thousands of workers were without their salaries for four months and thousands of teachers were not paid for nearly 12 months. We have so many abandoned projects which huge sums have been paid but projects are yet to be completed. We have the Mono-rail project that gulped over N60bn and it was abandoned. We have the Woji road project awarded at N3bn. There was a variation of the project to the upward of N14bn but it was abandoned. We inherited the project and completed it. There are so many of the abandoned projects. We have the Karibi George 250 bed project where huge sums of money were paid but no single block was laid at the site” he said.

He said that the State would deploy every legitimate means to compel those that looted the State to face the full wrath of law.

THE PERIOD OF VERY RECKLESS IMPUNITY IS OVER. IF YOU CAN NOT DO THE TIME, THEN YOU MUST NOT DO THE CRIME. THOSE WHO ARE FOUND GUILTY OF LOOTING OR STEALING, SHOULD THE SENTENCED TO A MINIMUM OF LIFE AND LIFE MEANS LIFE, IF THEY ARE FOUND GUILTY OF LOOTING AND STEALING A SECONG TIME, THEN THEY SHOULD BE EXECUTED BY FIRING SQUAD. ALL MEMBERS OF THEIR FAMILIES, FRIENDS, CRONIES AND AGENTS, WHO KNOWINGLY BENEFITED FROM THE LOOTINGS AND STEALINGS, SHOULD BE SENT TO PRISON FOR LIFE AND LIFE MEANS LIFE. THESE MEASURES WILL SERVE AS A VERY SEVERE DETERENTS.

Dizeani Allison-Madueke is the real mastermind of this financial crime totaling $4.5 billion officially said to hang
on the neck of Jide Omokore. She should be arrested forthwith. Cancer is no defence to criminal investigation.
Dizeani (as Petrol Minister) took the decision to convert state assets as concession to cronies selected at night.
No competitive bidding took place or did Dizeani ever throw the concession offer open for any public discussion.

The total darkness which over-arched the murky deal enabled Jide Omokore to avoid both royalty and oil taxes.
The result is financial hemorrhage of $4.5 billion resulting from the criminal scheme plotted by Dizeani Madueke.
And because Goodluck Jonathan signed the deal he is complicit as accomplice to disguised thefts of state assets.
There is no way this Jide Omokore financial crime can be resolved without arresting both Jonathan and Dizeani.

“I worked with President Goodluck Jonathan. He is such a big disappointment –
a young educated man that was supposed to have a Ph.D, doing things that
do not have any sense at all. It was a huge betrayal of the educated people.
Nigerians wanted change to a level that they wanted anything but Jonathan
because he had messed up the system sorely in governance and leadership.”

Mr Sola Omole, the Director General of NTA has confirmed that he no longer has autonomy in operating the affairs of the Nigerian Station.

Mr Sola Omole said, ever since the Buhari administration I have been taking directives from Lai Mohammed on what to telecast and broadcast.

I want to plead with Nigerians to bear with the ongoing Change which has affected this media station.

    • UBU-PKIN

I want to beg all the Mujahedeens of Premium Times to help us tell all
Nigerians. We are suffocating in heat in Lagos state. No light to do our
business for two days running. No light to sleep well too. I am hearing that
President Buhari wants to collect tax from us to pay for budget? Where will he
get the tax when we cannot do any business without electricity? See even NNPC
saying it is so bad it posted loss of 260 billion Naira last year. If NNPC is
posting loss who can post profit in this condition? Only someone like this Jide
Omokore you are talking about can post profit because he was trading with the
country’s money at no interest or tax. Are we all to start stealing too, since stealing
is the only way to survive the nonsense economics Jonathan left behind? Now
they have increased electricity tariff for no light supplied at all. I am saying it.
I’m saying my own now. One day blood will flow in Nigeria. The people can’t take
this nonsense further than this. I am telling you. You can’t put people in
      impossible condition and expect peace.

      • Burning Spear

Sadly your brother in NNPC told the entire world that even if crude oil is sold at 5 cents per a barrel–NNPC will still make profit–I often wonder the type school of Liars that man graduated from at Harvard——He is yet to tell us what NNPC did with—the 5.6b Dezani left in the cioffers of NNPC-

SUM DUE FOR REPATRIATION IS IT $750MILLION? COUNTRY OF REPATRIATION IS …?

    Carol Ajie
    Lagos, Nigeria
    29 Jan 2016 — Friday 29th Jan. 2016

    Mr President Buhari,

Transparency is a virtue a regime who professes to fight corruption should honour.

Months after you assumed office I got hints from a consortium of lawyers in Nigeria working with counterparts in USA to retrieve $1.5Billion (One Billion Five Hundred Thousand Naira) of Abacha’s loot from the United States of America to Nigeria. The lawyer said a Federal Court in US already completed the assets forfeiture proceedings. They asked me if I was Mr. Malami’s classmate in the University or at the law school and I said No. They asked me if I had Mr Malami’s phone number and if I could call him. I said I am so sorry I am not going to call Minister Malami I have his number for the simple fact that I don’t call serving public officers not known to me in NBA, as a policy. Ministers of Justice his predecessors were known to me in the Nigerian Bar Association. I said however, IRS Isiaku Rabiu is owing my client $2million and before he became AGF Malami, was his lawyer & responded on behalf of the debtor, IRS.

Weeks after another lawyer was discussing Law our common ground and when this matter was raised ie the repatriation of USD1.5Billion, and a meeting had been requested by the consortium, a member of the said consortium of lawyers said the US contact had actually gone ahead to see the presidency referring to your presidency in respect of the matter of repatriation/recovery of the said funds ($1,5Billion).

Next I was to read this report that $750million was about being repatriated.

Mr President nowhere was it stated source or country of repatriation in any of the circulated report and why is it that your regime announced the sum of $750million without disclosing to the public the country the repatriated sum is being expected?

Please what exactly is going on right now? Are there hawks or what? And why are we fighting past regime’s corruption when we are hiding the full details of important transactions? President Jonathan’s regime disclosed country of repatriation and sums.

Why is President Buhari in the habit of hiding things. PMB refused to disclosed to the public despite several inquiries from journalists and also at your maiden media chat 30th Dec what you have recovered thus far from the anti-graft exercise and you rested it on judicial proceedings until the court cases finish. The court cases are not going to finish Sir in the next decade and what becomes of the enormous cash in your hands?

Please your Excellency lead by example fight this graft war with sincerity and honesty as stated in Guardian Law page 44 on Tuesday 26th Jan., 2016

    Respectfully submitted,

    Attorney Carol Ajie
