Zaria Massacre: Nigeria Shi’a group releases 705 names, photos of ‘missing members’ – FULL LIST

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria has released 705 names and photographs of people it said are its members missing since December 12 and 13, 2015, when Nigerian soldiers carried out raids on the sect’s bases in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The raids took place after members of the sect barricaded a road, stopping the convoy of Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai.
The Army said it used force as the blockade was an attempt on Mr. Buratai’s life. The Shi’a group denies attacking Mr. Buratai.

After killing a sizeable number of the sect’s members on Saturday afternoon, the Army, witnesses said, returned to the Hussainiyyah base of the Shiites, as well as the resident of group’s leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, in Gyellesu, also in Zaria.

Altercations that followed led to the death of more members of the group, witnesses say.

Mr. El-Zakzaky survived gunshot wounds and was taken away by the military, alongside his wife.

Human Rights Watch said in its report at least 300 members of the Shi’a group were killed. The organisation also said hundreds of victims were secretly buried by the army.

The army has not given an official figure of deaths.

Here is a list of 705 names and towns of origin released Monday by the Shi’a group published on its Facebook page. The group says the list is provisional.

Redeem, you are right on point. It is the documents the Buhari Gestapo cooked up in order to rope in the perceived enemies of the ruling APC government. Have you observed that the whole story and confessions said to be made by their culprits were made for them and sometimes signed for them by the Gestapo signature experts. That is why they do not want to let their captives free, not even freed to the courts, where their yansh go open. Dasuki being a Fulani in a way is cooperating with them in their cock and bull story of diversion of $2.1 billion meant for arms. When cornered recently in America, GEJ had laughed at the possibility of this happening at all and had questioned where that money came from and who authorized it. That is why Nigerians must reason that the DasukiGate is a farce, one designed to give boost to Buhari’s fake fight against kworupsion.

      • jude L/A USA

Gbam!!! You are right on point.

    • Rumournaire

USA does not rule Nigeria. Wherever we find ourselves as a nation, we must take 100% responsibility for it. Americans did not vote in Nigeria’s elections. INEC was 100% Nigerian. So, please keep USA out of Nigeria’s business.

If there are 1000 suspected thieves and you think all 1000 should be arrested and prosecuted the same day, you have something funny going on in your mind. And what is the “selectivity” in the probes? Again, if there are 1000 suspected thieves, the probe must start from somewhere, and it could be anyone. There is no such thing as being selective. Everyone is a legitimate starting point!

DSS After Dasuki To Confiscate Video Of Former INEC chairman, Professor Attahiru, Jega’s Meeting With Northern Leaders In Dubai

The Department of State Services, DSS, continued siege to the residence of former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (Rtd) is as a result of the agency wanting to lay their hands on the tape of the secret meeting former INEC chairman Professor Attahiru Jega held with Northern leaders in Dubai which is in Dasuki’s possession.

The DSS had on July 9, 2015, on a Thursday, raided Dasuki’s Abuja and Sokoto homes which the agency claimed to be based on credible intelligence linking the immediate past NSA, Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (Col rtd) with alleged plans to commit treasonable felony against the Nigerian State.

However, it has been learnt that the tape of the secret meeting Jega had with Northern elders in Dubai in Dasuki’s possession is the reason why the DSS invaded his house.

On the 5th of November, three months after raiding his Abuja residence, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) again returned to Sambo’s house.

Investigations revealed that the DSS operatives besieged the residence of Dasuki with the intent to prevent him from embarking on a supposed planned trip to the UK for medical treatment.

On Tuesday, a court had ruled that Dasuki’s international passport, which was seized by the DSS, should be released to enable him travel abroad for medical treatment which led to the DSS operatives besieging his residence with the intent to prevent him from embarking on a planned trip to the UK for medical treatment.

Reports indicate that the DSS is trying to stop Dasuki from taking abroad the tape of Jega’s pre-election secret meeting with Northern elders in Dubai abroad – as the content of the tape is rumored to be whistle-blower on the 2015 Presidential election.

Professor Jega Dubai meeting with Northern elders in Dubai had been the basis that calls for Jega’s resignation was tagged on, with some reports before the election indicating that he had submitted his resignation which was rejected by Goodluck Jonathan – based on public outcry which would have followed suit.

We may be looking at GENOCIDE here without a doubt. The casualty figure is high enough to meet the threshold.
The insouciant stance taken by the Buhari government meets the definition. The Human Rights Watch is involved
as witness to genocide and has delivered its report to United States of America’s Congress. Islamic State of Iran
has similarly sent Nigeria a note verbale in protest. The internationalization of this Shiite’s murder is now complete.

Yes..then the army advanced to the Shiite Mosque where they killed hundreds of Shiites Muslim Nigerian citizens including women and children….then the army advanced to Zzazaky’s home where they wiped out his family and any one present.

What a “brave” army led by Buratai, they defeated unarmed Shiites at the Mosque where they killed women and children en mass.

The world MUST look into this Zaria Massacre, and co-relate it to The 2015 Mina Stampede. These events may relate to the hostilities between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Wikipedia accounts state:

“On 24 September 2015, a crowd collapse caused the deaths of at least 2,236[2] pilgrims who were suffocated or crushed during the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Mina, Mecca, making it the deadliest Hajj disaster in history.[3][4][5] Estimates of the number of dead vary; the Associated Press reported 2,411 dead,[1][6] while Agence France-Presse reported 2,236 killed.[2] Based on the total of the individual national reports cited in the table below (nationalities of victims), at least 2,431 people died.[note 1] The official death toll from the government of Saudi Arabia remains unchanged since two days after the event, with 769 reported killed and 934 others injured.[1][7][8]

The incident happened in Mina at the intersection of streets 204 and 223 leading up to Jamaraat Bridge.[9] The cause of the disaster is disputed.[10][11] The Mina disaster has inflamed tensions between regional rivals Saudi Arabia and Iran, which were already raised due to the wider turmoil in the Middle East, such as the Syrian Civil War and Yemeni Civil War.[12][13][14] In a press conference held on the day of the incident, Saudi Ministry of Interior spokesman Mansour Al-Turki attempted to address most issues regarding the incident. He said that an investigation was ongoing and that the exact cause of the overcrowding that led to a deadly crush on Mina Street 204 is yet to be ascertained.[15][16]”

As you can see below, a few sample of the dead, and missing, are quite high for Iran and Nigeria. The first figure is the dead, and the second figure is the missing:

    Ghana 17 17

    India 114 10

    Indonesia 129 0

    Iran 464 0

    Iraq 1 0

    Morocco 42 1

    Myanmar 6 5

    Netherlands 1 0

    Niger 78 41

    Nigeria 274 43

Are these Shi’a? Nigeria’s delegation was led by Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, and they have not produced any account to Nigeria, the assembly is aloof, and is not looking into any of these mass killings.

According to a statement by the Saudi civil defence directorate, a stampede occurred Thursday 24 September 2015 at 09:00 Mecca time (06:00 UTC) at the junction between street 204 and 223 as pilgrims were en route to the Jamaraat Bridge. The Saudi Interior Ministry stated that the stampede was triggered when two large groups of pilgrims intersected from different directions onto the same street.[27] The area was not previously identified as a dangerous bottleneck.[90] The junction lay between two pilgrim camp sites.[91] The International Business Times and the Daily Mail reported that the governor of Mecca Province and Saudi Arabia’s head of the central Hajj committee, Prince Khalid bin Faisal Al Saud, blamed the crush outside the holy city on “some pilgrims with African nationalities”;[92][93] this caused some African leaders to lash out in response.[94]” – Wikipedia.

So photographs, names and addresses with confirmatory notes from family and congregation is doubtful …you guys are egging Buhari into a mess on this issue,it cannot be wished away. The massacre was heavy and systemic, the remains were comandeered from mortuaries and streets and buried in secret graves, that is classic organised disposal of human remains…Nazi style.

      • AFRICANER

He is already a mess! There’s no way enlightened Nigerians will let this go. There’s no excuse to wait for Buhari to do something else before he is removed by democratic means, either by NASS or the international community. There’s no way a soldier who committed similar atrocities, or worse since the 1960’s, to his despotic take over of a democratic government in 1983, to jailing people in gulags, killing some, to being accused of supporting, and propping up terrorist organization such as Boko Haram, can come back into office, and within 6 months commit such a massive Human Rights violation as killing that many people, burning and burying them in mass graves in 2015, and harboring such a hatred for IGBOs and other tribes, and the world will let this administration continue, THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE!

The record is clear, allowing Buhari to stay in power is like condemning IGBOs, shiites, the opposition to DEATH, it is clear; you can see it in his face, you can see it in his travels, you can see it in his demeanor; he has set the stage to wipe out entire tribes, and regions; the WORLD MUST RISE UP NOW to stop this man.

He just killed hundreds, if not thousands of people very very close to him both religiously, and by geography with impunity, what do you think he would do to IGBOs?

He is threatening other regions daily, he is jailing the opposition daily, he is holding them in gulags, he is disobeying court orders, he has silenced the courts, and the National Assembly, how much messier can he get?

I hope you realize this can only get bigger.

This crime is NOT the sort that goes away in 100 years.

Those are Nigerian, men, women, and children.

You better believe every soul is precious; just as precious as you, and me, and Buhari.

All life is equal in the eyes of God.

Snuffing out their lives in broad day light, and we know who did it, we can’t just go on like these are chicken.

These are Nigerians. These are Africans; these are human beings. There MUST be accountability. You had better believe that.

If you are one of those hiding your face ON THIS, so you can comment about corruption later, SHAME ON YOU!!!

        • adam baracus

its amazing how you people assume that your sponsored lies and bigoted charades against PMB can make any dent in his well documented patriotic character and intergrity. Give it up, looters will be held to account whether you like it or not. And much as you try you igbos can not destroy Nigeria you can only destroy youselves.

          • AFRICANER

It is universally recognized and accepted that individuals possess certain definite political, civil, economic and social rights which governments have the duty and responsibility of protecting and enforcing such rights. The concept of Human Rights cannot be taken away from any Nigerian because these are rights to which we are entitled because we are human, not because we are Nigerians, or Igbos, Yorubas, Fulanis, Tivs, or Shi’as.

United Nations has jurisdiction when it comes to freedom of religion, and thought; I will post the relevant provisions, in case you are ignorant of this, below:

EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF THOUGHT, CONSCIENCE, AND RELIGION

Universal Declaration of Human Rights 1948 (UDHR), Art. 18:

Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.

International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights 1966 (ICCPR), Art. 18:

Everyone shall have the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion. This right shall include freedom to have or to adopt a religion or belief of his choice, and freedom, either individually or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in worship, observance, practice and teaching.

No one shall be subject to coercion, which would impair his freedom to have or to adopt a religion or belief of his choice.

Freedom to manifest one’s religion or beliefs may be subject only to such limitations as are prescribed by law and are necessary to protect public safety, order, health, or morals or the fundamental rights and freedoms of others.

The States Parties to the present Covenant undertake to have respect for the liberty of parents and, when applicable, legal guardians to ensure the religious and moral education of their children in conformity with their own convictions.

In general, according to the UN Human Rights Committee (HRC), the treaty body that reviews compliance with the ICCPR, Article 18 of the ICCPR protects:

theistic, non-theistic and atheistic beliefs, as well as the right not to profess any religion or belief. The terms “belief” and “religion” are to be broadly construed. Article 18 is not limited in its application to traditional religions or to religions and beliefs with institutional characteristics or practices analogous to those of traditional religions. The Committee therefore views with concern any tendency to discriminate against any religion or belief for any reason, including the fact that they are newly established, or represent religious minorities that may be the subject of hostility on the part of a predominant religious community.

            Here are some more:

            B. PERSONS BELONGING TO RELIGIOUS MINORITIES SHALL NOT BE DENIED THE RIGHT, IN COMMUNITY WITH OTHER MEMBERS OF THEIR GROUP, TO PROFESS AND PRACTICE THEIR OWN RELIGION

[ICCPR, Art. 27, OSCE Vienna Document Art. 19, OSCE Copenhagen Document, and UN Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious or Linguistic Minorities, Arts. 1-2 and 4]

In those States in which ethnic, religious or linguistic minorities exist, persons belonging to such minorities shall not be denied the right, in community with the other members of their group, to enjoy their own culture, to profess and practice their own religion, or to use their own language

            —ICCPR, Article 27

            And More…

            C. EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO EQUAL AND EFFECTIVE PROTECTION AGAINST DISCRIMINATION ON THE BASIS OF RELIGION OR BELIEF [ICCPR, Arts. 2(1) and 26, OSCE Vienna Document, Art. 16(a), and OSCE Copenhagen Document, Art. 40(1-2)]

This right includes the following components:

            1. States Undertake to Respect and to Ensure for All Individuals Within its Territory and Subject to its Jurisdiction the Rights Recognized in the ICCPR Without Distinction of Any Kind, Including Religion [ICCPR Art. 2(1)]

            2. All Persons Are Equal Before the Law and Are Entitled Without Any Discrimination to the Equal Protection of the Law. [ICCPR, Art. 26]

            3. The Law Shall Prohibit Any Discrimination and Guarantee to All Persons Equal and Effective Protection Against Discrimination on Any Ground, Including Religion. [ICCPR, Art. 26]

      • Rumournaire

Who told you these are real human beings? What does it take to cook up 700 names when there are thousands of ghost names on government payrolls and on voters’ registers? It’s like the report that claimed 50,000 Nigerian deportees from UK had just disembarked from a plane in MMA. How big would be a plane that would carry 50,000 people? Don’t be that gullible.

        • NoSpinEd

You may have a point about the veracity of the list. We will hopefully know in due course. There is nothing wrong in principle about printing the names of victims of a carnage. Some people might actually recognize the name of a relative or friend on this list and become solid witnesses in court.

          • Rumournaire

Names are so similar especially in the Islamic world that there could be names on that list that coincide with the names of multiple people you know. Do you know how many people answer “Mohammed Musa”?

          • AFRICANER

Perhaps that’s why they put the village, or clan, or compound, to ameliorate the issue?

          • Rumournaire

Many of the names have “Zaria” as their town. You know how big Zaria is? I recall during one of those dubious censuses in Nigeria. A town would just cook up thousands of non-existent names and say they are from the town, just because it was linked to revenue sharing. Putting the names of towns or even compounds mean nothing.

          • AFRICANER

Then, there are the photographs attached too, see the face book posting.

      • Shugaba Nkasa

        Listen to yourself.
We asked about the point in listing the names, you said it was to put human faces on the death statistics!
DO you not see anything wrong with your answer?

We will give you a few more seconds………………..Okay. It seems you still see nothing wrong. Don’t worry, we will walk you thru it!

What kind of face do these folks have now?…….. eh?……Crawfish face?

If your objective is to put human faces on the dead why don’t you just print their faces instead of their names?

You have their faces there but you won’t use it. Instead you go and print a long list of names that is so long, all it does is discourage people from even looking at the page talk less of reading the names.

We guarantee you that you will not find anybody that has read up to 10 names on that list.

Again, if you want to put human faces on the dead, use their faces. Do not use their names because it defeats your purpose.

Its all about collecting money from the Iranian government, the longer the list the fatter the purse. God have mercy.

          • Emmanuel Maluba

            You just got it nailed!

          • Layo

You are too much. What is the population of Zaria? They should all relocate to Iran. The chief of staff should have 5000 soldiers in his convoy to have killed 700 people. Miscreants.

          • Muhammad Lawan

Remember the so called shi’ites have never and did not carry arms . Even d military did not say they found arms anywhere in the compound of their leader or them. And i have it on good authority unlike the Boko haram that kill and maim innocent citizens the so called shi’ites have never attacked anybody. Apart from their annual processing which i agree constitues public nuisance they are not a threat to anybody. Can’t think of anywhere in the world where the punishment for illigal blockade of road is death! So i agree with the figure given by the shi’ites. When all u are carring are sticks and machetes u cannot mactch someone who is carring a fully loaded machine gun. Any number can be killed.

  • Shugaba Nkasa

This is like that plane that crashed into a cemetery in the Niger Delta years back.
When asked for the number of casualties, the Chief said “We are still searching but so far, we have recovered eight thousand, four hundred and thirty two bodies.!

    • NinjaK

      Gawd!
just because your own family no dey amongst?
So if any non-state approved religious procession blocks the road against the chief of naval staff or IGP then we kill off 300 or 700 of them? If our constitution tells us we are a secular state, then we should stay secular. Afterall we have been tolerating the Guru Maharaji processions in Ibadan for the past 25 years, the Hare Krishna processions in Lagos for the past 30 years, the Grail Message, Rosicrucians, Yoruba Traditional “Oro” festival walkabouts where men, women, or both are even banned from venturing out of their houses for some days, etc etc.
Why is there so much hatred for each other in this country?
      Are you at all sane?

      • Tunji Olarewaju

Join the procession next time and start hitting the chest of a General,’sane’ man

        • NinjaK

So, over 300 people went and started hitting the chest of a General???
          Pity!
And the next time these “Generals” maltreat you on the roads, then you all start shouting rubbish like you all did with the Naval Rear Admiral incident with that girl in Victoria Island some few years ago.
Walai, You’re just a very very awkward individual!

several defenceless people were killed maybe less or more. One day somebody somewhere will ask questions and somebody must have to answer. This is totally unacceptable to kill your citizens, people you govern, taxpayers. I just pray this action will not come back to hunt us like BH.
If it comes let the consequences be upon the perpetrators of this dastardly act.

    • wazobia scatter!!!!!!

This long list does not mean ANYTHING. If we could have ghost names on government payrolls and voters’ registers, what does it take to cook up 700 names?

    • Peter_Edo

a country that mike tyson and michael jackson are in voters register (thanks maurice iwu) can easily produce this…

  • NazirJos

I watched the footage of the event which the Shi’ite members released themselves. It was more than 1hr documentary covering the even from morning until night, until the next day. in fact the number of killed is far far less than what is being claimed. To my justification from what I watched I can place the number around 100 – 150 of those killed or injured. This long list is actually not verifiable. Anyone can make such list of names. However, I always maintain my idea about what happened as: the excessive force used by the military was way too far from reasonable. Just like your child misbehaved, and instead of slapping him, you broke him arm.

    • AFRICANER

Bullshit! Your analogy about broken arm is idiotic, and inhumane.

      • NazirJos

What do you mean? Do you have any better analogy?

        • AFRICANER

          Nazi, go away.

          • NazirJos

That means you don’t have point to present.

    • Darlington

So 150 people are not outrageous to be massacred by the Military extra-judicially? This is simply genocide against Nigerians.

  • Fairgame

Even if it was just 1 person killed extrajudicially by the army it is totally totally condemable how much more 30 or 300 or 700! Buhari has infused a religious dimension to his presidency because just like Sunni Buhari, the Shiites also believe in an eye for an eye. And with every action Buhari and his Buratai and El Rufai take against the Shiites the more intense the brutal bloody clash to come will be. Any wise person will advise this Buhari to initiate an independent international commission of inquiry now to investigate this massacre. Iran is now on the world stage and is getting stronger and Buhari by this massacre has put Nigeria ( more Northern Nigeria) in the bull’s eye of Iran.

    • Col Hassan kill all Ijaws

Were these Nigerians not warned about Buhari and his evil ways long b4 the elections? But refused to listen to the voice of wisdom-? The USA established a Radio Station for Buhari in the North–Radio Change–to braodcast hate filled messages against Jonathan–Same as the French did in Rwanda. Inspite of the open human rights abuses by Buhari, is the USA not backing him with the sole purpose of destroying the economy of Nigeria? Buhari is doing things that Jonathan would never have dared do for a second-such as the removal of subsidy–the increase in the price of Kero—The introduction of REMITA—by the Yorubas———–now Banks charge 100 for every transaction or payment made-Would Nigeria have allowed Ijaw man Jonathan, introduce these draconain measures—?———Now a friend and supporter of APC Col Hassan, have openly declared that the entire Ijaw villages in the niger delta, should be given the Odi treatment–U can now see the level of hatred against the Ijaw Nation—–and Tompolo—unaware it is the same Buhari and his cohorts who are blowing up pipelines–Because the security OF THE PIPELINES which was handed over to Tompolo and some members of OPC—the Apes in–APC want to take over such outfits————so pipelines must be blown into shreds to enable the House of reptiles pass the bill on the matter—————with speed—separation is the only answer–not the murder of Shiite Muslims by Sunni Buhari and Burutai the thief-

  • 9JA IS DYING DEAD UNDER BUHARI

Buhari’s Supporters Celebrating the Death of Esther Okono

    – George Onmonya Daniel, Abuja.

They claimed she wished Buhari death on social media during the fierce presidential campaign between the APC and the PDP and that she died recently. Since she died, Buhari’s fans have gone wild celebrating and sharing her picture on social media. This is so shameful.

The irresponsible ways majority of Buhari’s fans are acting on Facebook has been embarrassing. Mind you, I didn’t say APC fans and supporters, I am talking about Buahrists.

Such fanaticism should really be discouraged. People said a lot of things during the campaign, a lot of unpleasant things, it isn’t personal, it is political campaign.

Even in the US political debate, if you follow it, you will see that these things can go dirty. After the campaign we become one country and behave ourselves.

BUHARISTS have opposition spirit and soul, they would always act like opposition. It would take them, maybe 16 years to realize they have won.

Esther Okono, if you are dead, RIP.

Nigerians want President Muhammadu Buhari to order the Economic Financial Crimes Commission to investigate Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai following allegations he played a role in the ongoing $2.1 billion.

Former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, is at the centre of the probe but names of many others have been mentioned in connection with the funds that was meant for the purchase of arms to fight Islamist sect, Boko Haram but was squandered by the past administration.

Nigerians have however taken to social media to query the exclusion of Buratai who is responsible for Military Procurement from the ongoing probe
