EFCC OPERATIVES LAYING SIEGE TO THE RESIDENCE OF THE FORMER COMPTROLLER-GENERAL OF NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE, MR ABDULLAHI DIKKO, IN ABUJA

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday raided the residence of the immediate past Comptroller-General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko, in Abuja.

Anti-graft personnel arrived at the house located at 6, Ahmed Musa Crescent, Jabi, at about 7 a.m., the News Agency of Nigeria reported.

Mr. Dikko was not at home at the time of raid. NAN reports that the mission of the personnel was not disclosed to any member of the family who were in the house.

Armed officials of EFCC were still around the property by Friday noon, NAN said.

The agency quoted an armed police at the house as saying that they were deployed to ensure there was no breakdown of law and order.

The report also quoted Mohammed Usman, a relative to the former Customs boss, as saying that the EFCC operatives arrived at the residence at about 7 a.m.

According to him, about seven operatives searched different sections of the property for documents.

“A team of about seven operatives of the EFCC in company with some armed policemen arrived at the residence at about 7am and have been in the house for the past five hours.

“From the information available to me, no search warrant was presented before the commencement of the search.

“As I speak to you, they are currently in my uncle’s bedroom carrying out the search in his absence,” he said.

Mr. Usman faulted the search on the ground that the operation was being carried out in the absence of the former comptroller-general.

“The only people in the house at the commencement of this search and even till now are his children who are below the ages of 18,” he said.

When contacted, Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC Spokesman said that he had not been informed of the search on the former comptroller -general’s residence.

Kudos to EFCC, let there be no stone left unturn. All those bloody looters shall be eventually brought to book coz change is a process. Nigeria and Nigerians suffered alot as a result of these looters, very few people milked this country dry while the masses were dying. Their judgement day is fast forwarded and already here, corruption now fights back.

The So-called $2.1b Arms Purchase Fund Is Scam By The Buhari Administration – Chief Dokpesi.

**It is nothing but a hoax. “It does not exist. It’s a figment of the imagination of the present government to attack his enemies.

The $2.1 billion arms purchase scandal currently being investigated by the security agencies is a scam , the chairman of DAAR Communications, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, has declared.

Dokpesi is standing trial for allegedly collecting N2.1 billion of the cash from the erstwhile National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki. He is currently on bail.

The DAAR Communications boss spoke at his Abuja residence during his investiture as Patron of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Vanguard on Wednesday.

He said, “I must hasten to assure you that there is nothing like the much flaunted $2.1 billion arms gate. The competent courts of our land would sooner or later prove this coinage aimed at decimating the leadership and membership of our great party to be nothing but a hoax.

“It (arms scandal) does not exist. It’s a figment of the imagination of the present government. It’s about the persecution of Sambo Dasuki, Tony Anenih, Olisa Metuh and others. We will be made proud when we start our defence in court.”

In apparent reference to the Buhari-Idiagbon military regime of 1984/85, Dokpesi continued, “Some of us are reminded of the events of 1984/85 which by any stretch of comparison are similar to the unfolding events today.

“As I have said not too long ago, we must stand resolutely united, especially in the face of this momentary political adversity. For one thing, I say again that the PDP is not dead, is not dying and will not die.”

As long as they have a search warrant the EFCC have a statutory duty to perform and must do so with or without Dikko being physically present. He may have been tipped-off and escaped but, does that mean the agents have to wait for his reappearance to do their job? Mba nu. He can run but not forever, eventually James Ibori was captured in Dubai and jailed in the UK. Another Dikko, another heist of our common wealth… Sha, the music is loud enough for all thieves to hear the sound no matter where they’re holed-up in. Corruption cannot be allowed to kill Nigeria… wallahi !!!

Soyinka and the Pornography of Excess.

Prof. Wole Soyinka’s reaction to the scandal of the 82 Million Naira dinner held in his honour by the Rotimi Amaechi government in Rivers State is at once disappointing and depressing.

Soyinka has said he didn’t know about the cost of a party held in his name, in a State where 90 per cent of the people live in insufferable poverty. But now that official documents show the cost of his three-hour dinner, where is his moral outrage? Why does his statement not include a condemnation of such unconscionable misuse of public funds in his name?

In a country full of villainy, Soyinka is often held up as a moral titan. The Nobel Laureate cements this perception by conducting himself in the manner of someone who suffers from a god complex, someone who does no wrong.

But Soyinka’s unbridled support for Rotimi Amaechi invites close moral scrutiny.

Rivers State is reeling from the catastrophic legacy of the Amaechi years. Despite receiving over 3 trillion naira in revenue in 8 years, Amaechi left the most abandoned projects in the history of Rivers State, since 1967. MEANWHILE Buhari to APOLOGISE TO THE NATION FOR STEALING FROM THE PEOPLE–5 VEHCLES AND 300,00 DOLLARS

Thousands of workers went without their salaries for 4 months, aged pensioners faced starvation without their pensions for 8 months, and the salaries of thousands of teachers were not paid for nearly 12 months.

Everywhere you looked in Amaechi’s Rivers State; there was this stark, almost synonymic connection between poor governance, corruption and fiction.

A physical tour of the Greater Port Harcourt City in Rivers State on which Amaechi had spent over one hundred billion Naira, revealed only a putrid landscape of corruption, broken dreams and wasted resources.

The National chairman of Labour Party, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, in this interview with Vanguard criticised the 2016 Budget proposal presented to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari, describing the N6.08 trillion proposal as unrealisable. Alhaji Abdulsalam also bares his mind on recent happenings in the country.

What is your reaction to the budget, of N6.08 trillion presented by the President before the National Assembly?
The budget presented by President Buhari to the National Assembly does not make sufficient meaning to people like us. On what basis did the budget of N6.08trillion come about? Buhari told us that he met an empty treasury, so from what is he basing the budget of N6.08 trillion?

Why is Lai Mohammed crying everyday that Jonathan did this, Jonathan did that? We were aware that Jonathan did this, Jonathan did that and that was why when they called for a change. Nigerians voted for change. But today they keep on hammering on Jonathan and PDP. I think if they don’t have anything to do, if their agenda is not strong enough, we need to address certain issues with regards to Buhari and the APC.
I do not see to which extent this budget will not create additional problem, additional suffering to Nigerian people.

    Additional problem
But I want to tell you the fact, it is clear that General Buhari who knows nothing about the economy, has no economic team that can address fundamentally the issue of the enormous economic situation in Nigeria.

    He has no economic team?
He has no economic team. First he has no knowledge of economy at all and secondly he has no sound economic team that can fundamentally address the economic situation of Nigeria, else they will take us backward and it will be dangerous and it will terrible.
