Obama to send high-powered delegation to Buhari’s inauguration

International interest in Nigeria’s political transition and the planned transfer of power from the Jonathan-Sambo presidency to the Buhari-Osinbajo presidency billed for May 29 has risen in the United States as President Barack Obama now considers sending a high-powered U.S. delegation to the event, officials said Wednesday.

U.S. government sources said Mr. Obama is considering who might lead the American representatives to the event.

Besides, at least two US Ivy universities-Harvard and Yale – have since held special review sessions where scholars were invited from around the U.S. and the world to give lectures and seminars on the outcome of the Nigerian elections, focusing on the emergence of a former military head of state, who is a Muslim from the North of Nigeria, and a Christian pastor, who is a law professor from the South as president-elect and vice president-elect respectively.

Three names are already being mentioned in official U.S. and diplomatic circles including Obama’s wife, the American First Lady, Michelle, Vice President Joe Biden and the Secretary of State, John Kerry, as the head of the presidential delegation. From the U.S. Congress also, some of the senior members are said to be planning to attend the event including the Chairman of the US House of Representatives Sub Committee on Africa, Congressman Chris Smith.

The U.S. President normally announces a delegation to the presidential inaugurations of friendly nations being led by the Ambassador in that country. But in rare occasions, he picks very senior public officials as the head of delegation when he wants to underscore and emphasis a point of how the US highly regards the country or the circumstances at a given point in time.

Nigeria’s Ambassador to the U.S., Ade Adefuye, said, “I have been told that there would be an unusually large American delegation that will attend the presidential inauguration on May 29″.

He confirmed to journalists on Wednesday that he has also been told that a very senior member of the U.S. government is expected to lead the delegation, but that there was no confirmation yet.

The Nigerian Ambassador said he has been in consultations with the U.S. State Department on the matter, adding that President Goodluck Jonathan has already extended an invitation to the U.S. government.

“We are following up with the US government to ensure a very large US presence at the inauguration,” the Ambassador said Tuesday in Washington DC.

Mr. Adefuye explained that “Nigeria’s profile has been on the rise since after the election, the concession by Jonathan, and with the smooth transition that is going on”.

From the U.S. government to the business sectors and think tanks, the level of excitement about the anticipated peaceful transfer of power in Nigeria and the outcome of the elections itself producing the Buhari-Osinbajo ticket from an opposition party, APC, has been quite widespread.

Some of the U.S. groups that have been showing keen interest to attend the inauguration and pressuring the U.S. government to send a very high-powered delegation are the Atlantic Council, and the Constituency for Africa-groups known to be very influential in Washington DC.

A U.S. State Department source noted that after the elections, feelers were sent out to business groups, think tanks on interests in attending the Nigerian inauguration, and the “feedback has been very encouraging,” said the source.

At the Yale University over the weekend, a group of theologians-the Oxford Study Group on World Christianity had their annual meeting and participants disclosed that the Nigerian election was one of the major discussions this year.

A top U.S. Professor who attended the meeting said the Study Group composed of leading scholars from around the world who considered it significant that the Nigerian elections produced a Pentecostal pastor as Vice President to a Moslem, who had earlier been perceived not to be religiously pluralistic. Last month also, the Washington Post had published a report on its faith pages on “How a Pentecostal Law Professor Has Helped Reshape Nigerian Politics.”

Earlier Harvard Africa-American Program had also held an academic review session on the Nigerian election further revealing how widely significant the issue has become here in the US.

  • Abiodun

The first change that we voted for in the last general election is a change in perception about Nigeria and Nigerians. I am convinced that this is just the tip of an ice berge,we will see many more contries been proud to be a friend of Nigeria. We just need to make good use of this window.obviously good times are ahead. The task however is not only for the leadersbut also for the led.

  • Wise Head

Hot air. We are beginning to pursue shadows again. What exactly is Nigeria going benefit from all this hyped participation of the US? America should go and sit down.

  • Colonel Mariama(rtd)

What does “high powered” mean? Senior officials of that unwanted US Africa Command? We don’t want the US military anywhere on the African continent as we Africa will not eat weapons. We want economic engagement, the kind that China currently provided on the continent. Take a look at Ethiopia.

    • Abdul

Oh shut up please, is it that you cant read or you have comprehension problem. There is nowhere in the above write up where US military was mentioned. What the US said is that they will be sending delegation to attend Buhari’s inauguration and i think nations does that all the time especially friendly nations.

      • Colonel Mariama(rtd)

Actually you are the one who ought to shut up. The US only has self -aggrandizing interest in dealing with African countries. Buhari himself already promised to re-establish military ties with the US- a step in the wrong direction. If you do not know it then let me education your brain full of mush: There is this illegal military outfit called Africom which the US set up without consulting African countries( can you say BERLIN CONFERENCE OF 1885 in a jiffy) to counter China which is engaged in much -needed economic activity in the “dark continent”. You decided whether your penurious parents and siblings prefer to eat bullet or bread. The reason we have Boko Haram and Azawad insurgency is because of the nefarious activities of the US in Africa. Do you understand what happened in Libya and we is currently going on in that country? If your lame brain understands a thing or two you’d wish the US stay far away from Nigeria for our own good. How old are you in the first place to ask me to shut up. I truly do not wish you well for your brazen obstinacy toward my person. I do not particularly want to say what I wish to happen to you. Be very careful the way you talk to me. I am a person of tremendous means who is in a position to deal with your ind rather mercilessly. You have been warned the final times. Should you continue in this manner your very last days are racing toward you.Where are you writing from?

        • Abdul

I will forgive for your other nonsen*e but Really i found this one very very interesting

“I am a person of tremendous means who is in a position to deal with your ind rather mercilessly. You have been warned the final times. Should you continue in this manner your very last days are racing toward you”

You are so full of yourself you idi*t, what an arrogant and empty cocoon are you, i dare you to try it and see yourself in deep shit, i am presently in Abuja and will be here for another 2weeks, if you have capability and the means as claimed then lets meet in hilton at your own time and day lets trash it. Some of you are just overfed and think that the world belong to you, if you cant take a punch on a forum like this then get the hell out.

To the issue of military you ignorantly talk about, my simple question to you was where WAS MILITARY MENTIONED IN THE ABOVE ARTICLE? Do you have to miss up things? the post is on inauguration and here you are talking about military.

Lets meet please and lets see who will be the first to depart from this beautiful world.

          • Colonel Mariama(rtd)

I personally will not stoop to your level for a face-to-face engagement. My agents will take care of it. Interestingly the more you spew your asinine garbage the more fingerprints you leave behind. I GOT YOUR NUMBER. TIME IS UP. MARK MY WORDS AS I AM NOT JOKING HERE. Every single step you take you will see a particular individual right next to you who would not say a word even when spoken to. This person is tasked with watching your every move and filing timely reports to my other agents who lie in wait for further instructions. I feel sorry that you have chosen to go this route. You will now endure your very last days, God willing.

          • Abdul

Oh God, you are even more stup*d than i thought. May God have mercy on you. If only you know what you are dealing with. You are such and overfed Nigeria whose only access to cash is through govt patronage, i guess you are angry because you source is out starting from May 29th. Sorry.

I just invited you to meet me face to face and see you talking about agents. Please tell your agent to meet me in Hiliton at your own time and day, i am presently lodge there and i will be there for another 2weeks. If you are in the US, i can meet you when i get back in two weeks time.

          • Colonel Mariama(rtd)

I am not in the US. Why should I be there when my current abode suffices pretty darn well? Why do you shuttle between Nigeria and the US in any case. Occupation? Pharmaceutical salesman aka drug dealer. That is it. Lost soul. If you need more than one locale to make a “living’ then you are nothing but a damn peddler. My agents will surely deal with you. You don’t know who you are dealing with. You puny, little computer will not grant you adequate anonymity as you wrongly believe. You are leaving behind an awful lot of stinking droppings in your trail.Trust me on this one.

          • Abdul

Fortunately, i am using my real name here loser and i have given you a hint about my whereabout, you know why i am doing that? because i am more than capable to take you on on all front. Honestly i really dont want to waste my time and money on lowlife like you because if i want to, I WILL SMOKE YOU IN LESS THAN ONE DAY AND I WILL TAKE THE BATTLE TO YOU since you dont want to come to me. Trust me a couple of thousands of dollars can do that for me.

Anyway, i am waiting for you loser.

          • Colonel Mariama(rtd)

Noted. No further comment as I am ready to leave things here for now. I will be on my way to a different location for reasons I do not want to discuss here. Matters will surly come to a head except that one particular party may not be around to recount the ordeal. wish you no more than you wish yourself( this assumes you value living. Longevity may not be in your lexicon as it is now clear to me that none in your family can honestly boast of such).

          • Abdul

Hahahaha, those who try me never live to tell the story. Lets leave it at that but dont push your luck because i can honestly get you wherever you are in the world. I have all it takes. DONT PUSH ME, I CAN LIGHT YOU UP TRUST ME.

          • tundemash

F00l , you got my house address 5 weeks ago, what did you do with it and here you are ranting you got Abdul’s number. A miscreant threatening others belong in a creek zoo. A cross-cred chimp does not belong to a human dwelling.

        • Doyin

Where were all these five years plus, when Jona was failing in all fronts. USA is a civil society where law and order are respected. So if you do not want Nigeria to proceed in the same trend, you can equally decamp to Ghana.

          • Colonel Mariama(rtd)

I will be more than happy to “decamp to Ghana” a far better country than Nigeria. Why do I say this? Ghana has done more in a few short years with limited resources than Nigeria with oil revenue since 1957. What are you talking here? The people of Ghana or Ivory Coast with nothing but cocoa should be proud of themselves. How do I become proud citizen of that greta nation?I think you love the stagnation and waste that Nigeria has come to epitomize right since independence.Never mind that just about everyone born yesterday blames Jonathan for the rot. Not so fast. Nigeria has and will always have the same motto: CHOP I CHOP. I know because unlike most of you youngster with brains full of nothing but mush, I have been around that long. Do you remember when the Queen of England last visited Nigeria? I didn’t think so. I was there. Stop being rather too obstinate with your naivete.

        • tundemash

Be very careful the way you talk to me. I am a person of tremendous means who is in a position to deal with your ind rather mercilessly. You have been warned the final times. Should you continue in this manner your very last days are racing toward you.Where are you writing from?

F00lish Sergeant Sore Loser, you are directing your empty threats towards another person again? Did you not ask for my address 4 weeks ago and till date, u are still ranting and too timid to come near? A nonentity ex-Niger Delta terrorist granted amnesty by Yaradua claiming he is “a person of tremendous means who is in a position to deal with your ind rather mercilessly.” YOU ARE DELUDED F00L !

      • Psi Ciroma

LETS FACEE OUR COUNTRY and FORGET ENDORSEMENTS!!

OBAMA HAS NO REAL CLOUTH IN THE U.S.A…. HE IS SIMILAR TO GEJ BUT WONT ACKNOWLEGED IT@

        • Abdul

The last time i checked he led Americans out of the worst economic crises, end the war in Iraq, pushed Obamacare that incorporated millions of America into sustainable health care system, elected for a second term, currently pushing for immigration reforms etc.

Obama got second term while Jonathan did not. How on earth can you compare apple with orange? You see your life.

        • Lenz

Why don’t you stay away form a subject you know absolutely nothing about?

We were here in the U.S. when Obama took over the leadership from George W Bush — when the U.S. economy was in free-fall, stocks plummeting, and hemorrhaging net 700,000 jobs a month — and we are still here, OK?

Obama has turned all of that around during his tenure as any here who have eyes, a stomach and an objective mind can see.

Don’t compare Obama to Jonathan: a man who doesn’t know his left from right.

The U.S. electorate is also very different from their Nigerian counterparts. You can give them all they wanted economically and they will still call for your head on account of their politics being extremely ideologically based — especially at times when things are doing better economically (i.e. when they have the luxury to wax ideological versus practical)…

          • Colonel Mariama(rtd)

I disagree with you here. In the first place economic depression comes in cycles in the more advanced countries regardless of who the leader is. Obama had very little real experience before winning the election in the US. Blacks who make up only 13% of the population( not the electorate) could not have voted him into office. What then is responsible for his electoral success? WHITE GUILT!!! That is it. In actuality the US electorate is far less educated about political events and the political history of their country. A majority could not tell you the three branches of the US government. Many couldn’t tell you how many Justices sit on the Supreme Court. Not a single one could tell how many Senators come from their state let alone name one. What ultimately matter in elections in the US is which party has more social problem where things are handed out free of charge. Remember that it was Newt Gingrich who called Obama the “FoodStamp President” in the run up to his reelection.Ask yourself why he said that. Obama’s healthcare reform literally gutted a system that was much better and operational than most in the world. You may live in the US on government handout but that does not make you an expert on US affairs. Most of who live outside understand it better. Please enjoy the unfunded benefits you currently receive while they last. The Republican Party plans otherwise.

          • Abdul

You are very ridiculous honestly, shame on you.

          • Lenz

As usual, a certain kind of Nigerian will enter an argument without even apprising himself sufficiently of what the argument was about.

All you are writing here is a waste of time. My cardinal point was that you cannot equate Obama with GEJ (like Psi Ciroma was doing) as, essentially, a failed president who did not deliver to his people. And I think I made that point.

          • Colonel Mariama(rtd)

What are you babbling about here? Just listen to yourself: A CERTAIN KIND OF …This is hogwash. Do you then think that you are a different kind who towers above the rest of us mortals? Not so fast now. Judging by the way you crave social benefits, you are less than ordinary. Your insatiable greed for anything free betrays your laziness. As a human being I consider your kind totally worthless to engage in any kind of intellectual task. Go and enjoy your unfunded benefits while they last. They may not be there much longer. Like I pointed out you do not understand the working of the US government. Obama was reelection on WHITE GUILT. The White felt the need to atone for what their forebears did. End of story. Now go away with your rubbish talk.

          • Lenz

            Wow.

This is very reminiscent of my visit to the zoo yesterday with my 11-year old… We were entertained by some agitated chimpanzees with exactly the same cacophonous and blabbering attitude you are exhibiting here…

            Bravo!!!

          • Colonel Mariama(rtd)

Glad to know that you took your family to the zoo to be with your kind. Need I say any more? I suggest you head back to the zoo to calm frayed nerves. You and your 11-year without another accompanying parent? Lot of information about your background there. A broken home I suppose. Did you kill the other parent? I see that you live in the US with a skyrocketing divorce rate. Just keep baring your ass for all to see. You are truly a failure. You are quite annoying to a fault and your inability to think coherently isn’t helping any. Consider shutting up right now before more damage is done to your person. SINGLE PARENT FAMILY ISN’T THE VALUE WITH HOLD HIGH IN NIGERIA. No wonder you love Obama. I said it before: YOU ARE ON WELFARE IN THE US. How did I know it even before you let out that you are a single parent. Jerk!!! If this is progress I want no part of it. Mind telling us if you are in a same-sex relationship too? Tell please. Tell. Don’t hold back now. Agent of calumny!!!!

          • Omotolaaraujo

I don’t know a single Caucasian that voted for Obama for feeling guilty. Who told you that Caucasians have White Guilt? You’re misinformed. Obama was the best candidate, TWICE. Newt who? “Government handout is unrepresentative” of aid for the poor, sick, and elderly. Nigerians should be so lucky. I spoke to a Physical Therapist that works every day, but has a healthcare employer that won’t help pay for her medical insurance. Now she is able to get medical insurance through the government program. Healthcare reform hasn’t gutted anything. You have no idea about what you wrote here. The Republican Party is the PDP of America.

          • Psi Ciroma

“”””The U.S. electorate is also very different from their Nigerian counterparts. You can give them all they wanted economically and they will still call for your head on account of their politics being extremely ideologically based””””

  • Dr.Anifowoshe

    Dear President Barack Obama,

Why Buhari can NOT be sworn in as President on 29th May

Nigeria will be very pleased to receive your delegation once Nigeria sorts out Buhari’s illegality.
In a democracy, the Constitution of a country is its Holy Grail and Nigeria should be no exception.
Whenever the Constitution forbids a particular conduct by a president-elect, and stipulates the
penalty for that heinous conduct, no Judge; no foreign country, no Parliamentarian, no politician,
no international organization – not even the United Nations or its Security Council – is permitted to
replace that penal clause with its own diktat. That’s well-established principle of international law.

Muhammadu Buhari swore on oath on December 10th, 2014, or thereabouts, lying through his teeth
that he sat for the Wasc/Cambridge examination in the year 1961 and obtained a completion certificate
which he said he gave to the Nigerian Army, without ever making a photocopy for himself since 1961,
and without ever attaching a photocopy of his claimed Wasc certificate to any application he made

overseas thereafter for the four military courses he attended. Now, since December 10th, 2014,

Buhari has failed to produce slenderest evidence of his claimed Wasc certificate and refused to

write to WAEC which organized the examination to provide him a certify copy, if any.

    • Man_Enough

You better go and dive into River Niger. you enemy of Nigeria and Nigerians. Look, Most Nigerians are VERY VERY excieted about Buhari and Osinbanjo leadership, we believe without a doubt that the coming era will usher in good tidings and immeasurable blessing. We are confident that hopelessness that hitherto define our future have given way to hope and faith in our dear country. The only group of people who are not happy now or have reasons to VERY VERY AFRAID are the corrupt people, terrorist, those who are indiscipline and those who do not wish Nigeria well.

Finally, we told you before the election THAT WE DONT BLOODY CARE ABOUT BUHARI’S CERTIFICATE, WE TOLD YOU THEN THAT EVEN IF HE PRESENT BREAD LABEL AS CERTIFICATE THAT WE WILL STILL VOTE HIM, Why did we say that? because Buhari was 1000 times better than “Jona the clueless” We have made true that statement and i think it is high time you stop whining and accept the reality of your benefactor’s “Jonathan the most corrupt president to ever lead Nigeria” defeat.

Dr. Anifowoshe, please fade now or we will help you fade out.

    • Dr.Anifowoshe

………………(2) Why Buhari can NOT be sworn in as President on 29th May

Section 137 (j) 1999 Constitution of Nigeria forbids and dis-qualifies anyone running for President; who
submits false certificate to the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC). Muhammadu Buhari is NOT
above the Constitution of Nigeria, hence, he stands dis-qualified along with his rabble-rousing APC party.
That is the law Buhari dared to violate and it’s a law that’s been on the books since the year 1999.

No one in America can lobby President Jonathan to do something or fiddle anything. The law is cast in stone.
Moreso that WAEC which organized the WASC/Cambridge examination has written to the general public on
28th January to DISPROVE and DISCLAIM Muhammadu Buhari’s oath of having got a WASC certificate.

Never, said WAEC, did anyone called Muhammadu Buhari sit for the Wasc/Cambridge sit for the Wasc
exam in 1961 or at any time before or afterwards. In law, that written disclaimer by WAEC is conclusive!

There’s no way Muhammadu Buhari can be President of Nigeria on 29th of May without dissolving the union
of Nigerian states by severing the Constitutional bonds holding the 36 disparate states as a union of country.
President Jonathan has no power to waive the 1999 Constitution for Buhari without himself becoming liable
      for a felony of treason.

Or does President Jonathan have any right – over against the Constitutional interdict – to handover to Buhari. Therefore, since Jonathan is not permitted by the Constitution to handover to Buhari; and since Buhari is
barred by the Constitution from ever receiving any hand-over of power, it should be obvious that in Nigeria,
a mimic CHANGE has gone up in smoke for starting with a huge fraud.

      • Abdul

          @disqus_JrddSXw5uL:disqus

Sorry O! My family and i are not part of the neurotic crowd who are
excited that the Constitution of their country must be annulled for the
sake of a Primary Six certificate holder elected by popular vote but in
contravention of the dis-qualification clause in the Constitution, because
we know that in consequence of that folly there’ll be no country thereafter.

          • Abdul

You dont get it, 15million Nigerians who voted Buhari plus all their family members couldnt be bothered about certificate, we just showed that via our vote. Majority had their way while minority are whining.

Sorry, the majority has suspended that part of the constitution, we made the constitution, the constitution did not make us. JUST ACCEPT OUR VERDICT AND GIVE YOURSELF PEACE BECAUSE NO AMOUNT OF SHOUTING AND WHINING CAN CHANGE OUR DECISION THANK YOU.

          • Colonel Mariama(rtd)

Are you now admitting that there is no certificate after all? Your statement seems to hint the absence of one. Is it then a new standard or should I say a different standard when it comes to people from a particular section of the Nigerian society? What manner of a country is this? You must live in a totally different world to accept such a standard as the norm. Should we not aim higher and better if at all we are serious about fixing the problems that bedevil the country- problems of mediocrity? Why can’t a person of my erudition( I am afraid that few such persons exist in the country) be elected to such position for the ultimate good of the country. Must we water down the standard at every corner to let just about any person occupy such an esteemed position. I can’t wait to hear your respond no matter how vacuous it may be.

          • Abdul

Lol. you dont know anything, i thought you are smarter than this with all your means. Go and read your constitution very well and if you cant comprehend it then i will advice you to look for a legal person to explain it to you. The advocate of “NO CERTIFICATE” are gradually fading out because their noise was all politics. The election are over now, it is only those with IQ problem that are still crying over certificate.

Like i mentioned above, electing Buhari was NEVER A FUNCTION OF CERTIFICATE, WE WOULD STILL HAVE VOTED HIM WITHOUT A CERTIFICATE. Open your eyes please.

      • Man_Enough

By the way, I have a PhD too!

What is your doctoral dissertation on then? I have a follow up question too.

Dr Anifowose can you please tell us what you people that have all the certificate in the world have ever done for Nigeria. The earlier we stop worshiping certificate in this country the ether for us. Meanwhile bear in mind that no one can upturn the will of God … not even you!

    • Man_Enough

it is only in the jungle that the will of the majority shall be overturned. weather the popular voice of nigerians are right or wrong is insignificant. the law of natural justice is that majority carries the day; bitter as the minority may be.

    • Critical

There is nothing like WAEC in 1961. What they have is Cambridge in London and you are the only person in Nigeria that does not know that Cambridge has forwarded a copy of Buhari’s missing certificate to Inec. You probably don’t know that all of a sudden the army has found his certificate they claimed was missing. You live and dwell in the past and in self denial. Cambridge was conducted by the British then, and they are the ones responsible for recruitment into the army and it is impossible for you to join the Nigerian army cadet rank without certificate. You and your dumbo Jonadaft have failed. Oya pack your bag and go and start trekking to Otuoke to receive your clueless one on May 29.

We should thank God for USA under Obama, UN under Ban Ki Moon and Britain under Cameron, Jonathan and co-travelers would have done anything to win last election. Let’s thank God more for using USA, UN and Britain to prevail on Jonathan and prevented another June 12. If the same powers had pressurized IBB and his wicked hawks, Abiola would not have died. Thanks to God they did not fold their arms this time around. RIP PDP, Good night Jonathan and Welcome to new Nigeria, my their fellow Nigerians. Up hold God, being honest and truthful in all your dealings, Nigeria will then be great. Do not expect rewards for everything, telling somebody a direction, you should not expect reward except “thank you” No magomago, no bribes, stay away from phones/facebook during the time you should be working or look for something you can do including car washing, errands business, kabukabu and others. Stop making GLO, MTN, airtel and others smiling to banks. Stop short cut to stuffs, take being a christian as your personal relationship with God, not your church or pastor. No amount of your emotional worship or “yes Sir and yes ma to pastor and pastor Mrs would take you to heaven. If you stay in church everyday, you do not have love, you are deceiving yourself. Even if you never miss night vigil since Jan 2015 and you still taking your children around for short-cut or “please help me” which prevent other qualified candidates you are not a good christian. Likewise my fellow Islam brothers and sisters. Nigerians should embrace honesty, truth and love.

PASTOR OSINBAJO: WHERE IS YOUR HOLY SPIRIT?

I have been quiet since March 28th election. I wanted to see the real nature
of Vice President-elect; Pastor Yemi Osinbajo. By now i have seen enough to
conclude that there is no single drop of Holy Spirit in his soul.

A man of truth will not remain in illegal association with Muhammadu Buhari
on false oath over Wasc certificate especially after WAEC issued its statement
to put all APC lies to rest, that Buhari never sat for WASC/Cambridge exam
and Buhari never got any Wasc certificate he could have given to the Army.

In other civilized countries, after WAEC issued this statement, the candidate will
face the camera, apologize for his ‘improper conduct’ and apologize to his party
for causing the nullification of the party’s 15.4 million votes at the 2015 election.
But Buhari chose a ruffian and shameless stance; perhaps consistent with the
sort of conduct you’ll expect from a Primary Six certificate holder who has no
understanding of rule of law. But what do you make of Yemi Osinbajo who says

Guguru- You should study international politics before making such statements. Every country that has welcomed USA to their shores have been found counting the cost for a very long time. Also what you are saying is that USA were involved in the removing of Jonathan. Well for making that statement alone, what you have revealed is that YOU are the clown. It shows your patent ignorance of international affairs. Do you think that any western country which helps an African country remove a sitting president (by fair means or foul) does so because they like you ?

As for asking USA to help you build the credibility that you need as a nation, I think you must still maintain the mentality of the indoctrinated black people who believe that the colonial and imperialist masters have the monopoly on credibility !! Your aspirations are quite frankly ridiculous. So you want to be the Giant of Africa. Why ? Because it makes you feel good, like a peacock with raised feathers. Should you not want your country to be stable, efficient, safe and healthy. What good is being the giant of Africa if children are starving and healthcare is extremely poor. The British use a phrase. ” All fur coat and no knickers ” This sums up Nigeria perfectly !

      • Guguru

        James,

Thanks for your uninformed comments. The theme of you comments is completely undecipherable. I guess South Korea and India which are very close to the USA are doing very badly as a result of their association with the USA. These nations are not in political or economic chaos like Nigeria, or are they? You have no credible and generalizable examples to support your position and yet you make many outlandish claims backed up with nothing more than huff and puff. So, the USA is responsible for the corruption and insecurity in Nigeria, right? And this same USA for reasons beyond the capacity of the human mind to decipher, chose not to introduce corruption and insecurity within the borders of its allied nations like South Korea and India in order to destabilize them as well, right? What mentality are you talking about? You have such a deep inferiority complex mixed with flashes of paranoia about the US such that you see and perceive even the smallest of gracious assistance as a form of hidden trickery designed to lull you into some unknown and unseen trap. My friend, I call this sickness. My advice to you is that before go out there embarrassing yourself with such nonsensical comments, free yourself of your inferiority complex and retrogressive mentality. Learn to back up your position or else, all you have is a fairy tale fit for a kindergarten school system.

        • Cicero

          Guguru

Whst else do I say? May God bless u so much. I first started hearing this kindergarten theory of America not being happy with Nigeria because they think Nigerian Army was getting too strong and that’s why they refused to support in the fight against BH since late last year! Started wondering why US would be worried that Nigeria might become a super power. These idi0tic jonathanians think it’d only military power that makes a country super power. When I first read it online, I couldn’t stop wondering how low people could get to defend poor performance. They make it seem the rest of the world hates Jonathan and don’t want him to succeed the same way the northerners don’t love him. And I keep checking the result of 2011 elections and wondering where all the votes came from. They were not ibo and I jaw votes alone!

    BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE…..

The Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari that President Barack Obama thinks
wants to do inauguration party is actually on the way to prison for
too many crimes. One of them i read below carries 14 years in prison.
The other ones i don’t know how many years they will carry.

My own advice after reading all these things many people wrote below
is that a high power delegation of all Emirs, Obis and Obas, with all the
other big thieves in Nigeria, should go now and beg President Jonathan
    before it is too late.

The delegation must appeal to President Jonathan that Buhari only
did ODU. But the thing has backfire. President Jonathan must please
show mercy on Buhari who is already 72 years old. Just one crime
sentence alone of 14 years in prison will kill Buhari. Let the Buhari

They prophecy our disintegration for 2015. They denied us ebola drugs, assistance against terror, refuse to sell weapons to fight Boko Haram. We survived it all. Now they want front sit at the inauguration of a new government they never wish to exist. We felt better when President Jonathan had to do without them. We stopped ebola. Boko haram that planned to put the entire country into war was well managed and pushed to Sambisa forest, though we pretend it was not. Buhari must remember this.

Only Buhari has the right o request his certificate from WAEC, any other person doing so should be arrested and prosecuted. BUhari is whom we want and nothing else, if any once does not want it, may be the person should change his citizenship to another country. he had rules the nation at past, he had the certificate of foreign trainings. The issue of WAEC certificate was introduced in Nigeria to frustrate some people out of the scheme of Nigeria politics,. it was inserted into our law by greedy politicians, and it is time to change that kind of law. If Nigeria vote ‘no level’ certificate owner, so be it.

This is the same US that refused to sell weapons to help fight Islamist terrorists on the shameful lie that Nigerian Soldiers have human rights issues. The US is cavernously dubious. You ignore their mischief at your own peril. Like a Chameleon they move through democracies imposing their hegemonic slave master ideas with blatant disregard for the feelings of the native population. They are old in this trade.

We know the US has never been happy with the Nigerian army since it single handedly dismantled armies and ended the wars in Sierra Leone & Liberia with no US assistance. Cable leaks have exposed the US discontent on this issue.

—-They have messed up Libya. In Syria they left ISIS to grow thinking ISIS will kill Assad but only when ISIS began to cut the throats of US citizens did they wake up to the reality.
—-The US indirectly supports an illiterate Buhari to lead a Nigeria with a legion of intelligent minds from Southern Nigeria – a people so intelligent that they could compete with the best from anywhere on earth.
—–The same US whose soldiers used atomic bombs in Nagasaki & Hiroshima in Japan against defenseless and unarmed civilian population that massacred over 250,000 in less than 10mins.
——The same US army that used the dreaded chemical (Agent Orange) in the Vietnam war that still leaves the generations of the direct victims of the chemical attacks with weird & embarrassing deformities at birth.
——The same US army whose Soldiers pee on dead bodies of war casualties in an orgy of sheer stoopidity & sadism.
——-The same US whose soldier woke up in an Afghan village and shot dead over 15 civilians on their beds while they slept at night.
——-The same US where one black man is killed every week just becos he’s black.

Yes!….It is the same US that gives you $100 Dollar in the morning, makes all the noise about it on CNN and other media but by afternoon would have already collected more than $200 back from you in kind 0from your natural resources and by evening , it practically begins to exercise sole patent over your resources.

—–This is the same US that continually sent FREE warships to Nigeria to protect its oil investments while the weapons were needed in the desert.
——-This is the same US that PT cannot research. Shame!!!!!!!!!
This is why we demand secession so we can break up from this cycle of enslavement to which PT & its APC party seem too accustomed. Nonsense!

Excellent post. Obama is a hypocrite and like his other western leaders, his foreign policy is a shambles. Like the British Prime Minister he thought ISIS would destroy Assad, but when it became clear that Assad was right all along about ISIS and the British parliament voted against Parliament, he backed down with his plans to dislodge Assad.

You are absolutely right. Obama if he had any integrity would launch a top level investigation into why police forces in the USA routinely kill black men with impunity and in the knowledge that they can get away with it, because USA has a weak black president. That USA is suddenly interested in Nigeria fills me with dread. Earlier this year they were predicting the break up of Nigeria. Now they want to send a large delegation to the inauguration.

Also, since when was Michelle Obama a member or an official of the American government. She is the wife of the President of the USA, no more no less. She does not hold or have political office so Nigeria should not accept her as the head of a USA delegation, as it would be highly insulting. There is nothing in the USA constitution which says that the wife OR husband of the President has the authority to represent the Office of the President of the USA, if they do not hold official office.

USA sudden enthusiasm for NIgeria has to be taken with a fair degree of cynicism, in light of the fact that USA was unwilling to assist Nigeria to help defeat a group who have pledged their allegiance to ISIS, the same people that USA are fighting. What kind of warped logic is that ? Western leaders are indeed exceedingly strange at times.

  • FactsandFigures

United States is just trying to make up on lost grounds because China has outstripped US as our largest trading partner. Not only that, the announcement of the nuclear deal between Nigeria/Russia would not have made US happy. Nevertheless, until US modifies its approach to investments in Nigeria/Africa it will lag behind…..because while China offers investments purely on for profit basis, US tend to attach “conditions” or “values” which oftentimes sounds and feels paternalistic. They failed to see what China saw years ago, that Nigeria/Africa is in a position to drive world economic growth. In recognition of this and out of a sense of urgency, Obama in 2014 organised its first ever US – Africa Leaders Summit to strengthen these ties(export of goods and services will create American jobs and further consolidate America’s leadership in global economy).China, on the other hand, has held summits with African head of states since 2000. I hope that the Buhari’s administration recognizes this quest for global/economic power between America and China and makes sure that Nigeria gets the best it can from these global forces.

President Obama came twice to Africa and he snub our Nigeria government because of corruption, and now a new government is taking off on May 29 2015 which will prepare for the visit of President Obama before he leaves office.

  • Dr.Anifowoshe

    Dear President Obama,

Nigeria will be very pleased to receive your delegation once Nigeria sorts out Buhari’s illegality.
In a democracy, the Constitution of a country is its Holy Grail and Nigeria should be no exception.
Whenever the Constitution forbids a particular conduct by a president-elect, and stipulates the
penalty for that heinous conduct, no Judge; no foreign country, no Parliamentarian, no politician,
no international organization – not even the United Nations or its Security Council – is permitted to
replace that penal clause with its own diktat. That’s well-established principle of international law.

Muhammadu Buhari swore on oath on December 10th, 2014, or thereabouts, lying through his teeth
that he sat for the Wasc/Cambridge examination in the year 1961 and got a completion certificate
which he said he gave to the Nigerian Army – without ever making a photocopy for himself since 1961,
and without ever attaching a photocopy of his claimed Wasc certificate to any application he made
overseas since 1961 for the four military courses he attended. Now, since December 10th, 2014,
Buhari has failed to produce slenderest evidence of his claimed Wasc certificate and refused to
write to WAEC which organized the examination to provide him a certified copy, if any.

    • Dr.Anifowoshe

      ………(2) Dear President Obama,

      Section 137 (j) 1999 Constitution of Nigeria forbids and dis-qualifies anyone running for President;
who submits false certificate to the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).

Therefore, since Jonathan is not permitted by the Constitution to handover to Buhari; and since Buhari
is barred by the Constitution from ever receiving any hand-over of power, it should be obvious that in Nigeria,
a mimic CHANGE has gone up in smoke – for starting out with a huge fraud.
