The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Wednesday announced the blacklisting of 72 of the 600 Computer Based Test (CBT) centres used for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across the country.

JAMB’s registrar, Is-haq Oloyede,  said the blacklisting of some of the centres was due to their alleged involvement in extortion and “organised examination malpractice” during the UTME.

A few others are technically deficient, the examination body said.

Mr. Oloyede said the decision was taken at the end of an enlarged meeting with external examiners and other stakeholders in the conduct of the examination.

On Thursday, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) commended JAMB for the action.

The President of the union, Biodun Ogunyemi, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the owners of the blacklisted centres should also be prosecuted.

The ASUU boss said the development was a step in the right direction, describing it as “ the way to go.’’

“What JAMB has done in that respect is a welcome development and a good decision,” Mr. Ogunyemi said. “I will not expect it to stop at just blacklisting of such centres.

“The leadership of the board should go a step forward by prosecuting owners of the affected centre in order to serve as a deterrent to others. This measure will further ensure that the integrity of the examination cannot be undermined.”

He added that JAMB should also strive to do thorough checks on centres and their owners before engaging them for the conduct of the UTME to avoid a re-occurrence.

PREMIUM TIMES has now obtained a full list of the affected centres in 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

A review of the list shows that while 38 of them were outrightly delisted for misconducts and gross technical deficiencies, 24 of them were suspended for one year for technical deficiencies.

Further analysis shows that 13 centres were blacklisted in Abia State, 10 in Rivers, nine in Anambra, six in Akwa Ibom, six in Delta, and six in Imo.

Other affected states have between one and three centres blacklisted.

Review the list, you will see centers from Igbo lands are more than other states. Igbos must steal and cheat from inception. How do you expect these young stars not to become and choose short cut in future ?

    • Rataya Tambai

….A very good reason and justification why they must vacate the current Nigeria they call “Zoo”. A beg, we don tire, make them carry their biafra wahala de go jare!

    • PolyGon2013

That is why they must leave our zoo. They need their own Japan of Africa.

      • amazing2012

…you, leaving is like removing cancer from Nigeria. Go the road is free ! Japan of where ? It will be center of global hard drugs, prostitution, and crime. A nation where all the nations will reject !! Please leave now !!!

    • Otile

Who stole the dates Saudi Arabia donated to your hungry masters? I am glad neither Oduduwa people nor Ndigbo stole the dates. Do you have the impudence to criticize your thieving masters? Do it and they will behead you. Coward

      • amazing2012

Check very well, the thieves must have learn and follow Igbo way !
Two communities in South Africa have give Nigerians days to leave their country, because of Igbos crimes !!

        • Otile

Concern yourself with your yoruba people. You will die defending your Fulani masters for a loaf of bread. Odale.

  • Naijawehail

Later they will say it is northerners that are cheating the system. South East 31 centres, South South 26, South West 3, North West 1, North East 4, North Central(including FCT) 7. Statisticians abeg isn’t this statistically significant in favour of one or two groups?

  • Intrepid

What do you expect to hear from a yariba moslem Registrar? I condemn exam malpatrice in any form. But I smell a rat here. Let’s split!

    • Dele Awogbeoba

Why? Because half of the sites listed are from the SE?

      • share Idea

Are you saying that the report reflect properly the true state of things. While I do not condone malpractice in any form. It is strange that very few centres in the northern part of country are listed. Does it mean that northern states have very conductive exam centres in Nigeria or do they not have exam centres.

It will be nice for JAMB to release balanced stats – number of centres per state and numbers that did not meet required threshold, either as a result of malpractice or equipment. Nigeria we hail thee

        • Dele Awogbeoba

You are demanding federal character here now?? Sorry to tell you but it reflects the sites where cheating and exam malpractise is known to be prevalent.

          • share Idea

Please stop exposing your ignorance. The report listed centers involved in exam malpractice. In addition, it also listed centers that have inadequate equipment to support such exams, and my initial comment was made in good faith as its disclosure will afford reading public with adequate information to make informed judgement. Nigeria we hail thee

          • Dele Awogbeoba

Those deemed to be involved in “organized exam malpractice ” had been delisted and those with some inadequacy were” suspended” for a given time period. Your initial comment was clear. Your view showed that you expect federal character to be reflected when reporting malpractice even if the preponderance of evidence shows organized exam malpractice is concentrated in certain states.

          • share Idea

Excerpt of my first comment…” Does it mean that northern states have very conductive exam centres in Nigeria or do they not have exam centres”.

Please can you cite any section of my first comment that made you arrived at the conclusion you have made in two of your comments?

          • Otile

Moron. Who can be allowed to inspect your corrupt islamic schools in Ekiti, Osun, Ogun, Katsina and Borbo?

        • PolyGon2013

Again, you are asking because SE consists the highest number in the list. I am actually surprised that the number is not higher than that! It must have been an improvement. To be honest, I expect the percentage to be 70% or higher.

          • share Idea

I don’t think you deserve more dignified response. Nigeria we hail thee

        • musa aliyu

The north U hate no get thieves. Den no dey gree-die for money

          • Otile

But who stole the dates Saudi donated to hungry Northern people? You know the barayi are not omo Odua nor Ndigbo. Be honest now.

          • musa aliyu

Na Ndigbo! The Director in charge of alms and charity is surely an Igbo. U know den sabi how to chop money! Abi no ndigbo be Muslim?

          • Otile

Aboki, don’t belie your soul, there is no Igbo or SS muslim man in Imam Buhari’s kitchen cabinet. A member of the kitchen cabinet stole the tonnes of dates. Remember the recent theft of Babachir. Is he Igbo or SS?

          • share Idea

I thought the topic of discussion was on JAMB exam, what concerns money with that. Hope Dangote and others from North that are very rich does not value/like money (wealth).

I was making an innocent observation and did not impute any ulterior motive to it. I wasn’t expecting the Northerners to top chat in centres that engage in Exam malpractice as I was only concerned that full picture was not disclosed.

If the report had stated that say a state from North has 400 Centres and all the centres pas equipment adequacy test and another state from SE has 300 with in adequate centre of 7. It will be worth studying further how the Northern state was able to achieve such feat and the SE should emulate that Northern state.

That is the essence of having reports /Stats.

In addition, if the referenced Northern did not record any malpractice, while numerous were recorded in SE, it will spur the SE to improve their performance while the Northern state should be commended. Nigeria we hail thee

          • Netanyahu

Yet you steal foods and drugs meant for the IDPs? The Saudi government just announced how relief materials for IDPs just got stolen and found in markets all over northern Nigeria. Your hypocrisy is nauseating. Keep fooling yourself.

      • deji 3SC (Up shooting)

It is more like 70% if you add the SS states that has some population of eboes.
This is why I laugh when they make noise about some cut off marks as their academic achievements

        • Otile

Are you talking about the cut_off marks of 400 for SS SE 20 from the Core North? No matter how you look at it the system is rotten.

          • deji 3SC (Up shooting)

Is it not better to score 20 based on your academic ability than score 400 through cheating?

          • Otile

The accused cheating is always false accusation based on tribalism. It is like Oduduwa ati Arewa people paying 1,000 while Ndigbo are extorted 1,000,000 for the same thing. Can there be any fairness in one Nigeria?

          • oyoko

            kai! this is good answer.

      • Intrepid

Yariba m0nkey man, read through the information very well. It was not only about exam malpatrice, the yariba Muslim man said the facilities in some of those centres fell short of the required standard, therefore thorough exam scrutiny could have been compromised. Whatever the yariba man meant by that, is up to him to explain.

No noise about this, because none of your of boys could see my back, in my own time, when we really burnt the midnight candle.

    • PolyGon2013

Dummy, Don’t say let’s split. Just leave. No one is holding you back.

      • Intrepid

B1TCH, why didn’t you tell your momsy to leave me, when I gave her a quit notice?

  • Adekunle

WAEC and NECO must begin to do same and let’s see if these so called 1st state can maintain the tempo

  • Romberg

Only in Biafra. Please give them freedom.

    • Oskirin

yes oooo.we are giving dem wht dey knw how to do best….wayo n jibiti.

    • PolyGon2013

Na im o. They have been given their freedom. Now they are scared to leave.

  • Shahokaya

The four Biafraud states of Abia. Anambra,Imo and Enugu have 43% of the total fraudulent centers. When it comes to crime you can’t beat the Ibos.

    • oyoko

and 77% from ES & SS States. we can know the axis of evil in this country.

      • PolyGon2013

The fraudulent ones in SS are probably run by the ibos.

        • deji 3SC (Up shooting)

Definitely by Ibos from the SS states

          • Afo

Likely over 85% of all the centre’s are owned and run by the Igbo thieves. They are the black sheep.

        • Justice Equity

Even the ones in Ogun state are run by them too.

      • Profy

i can bet u those fraudulent one in SS are ibo migrant

  • Karl Imom

Why CBT in the first place when more than half of Nigeria secondary schools have NO computer labs? A complete idiotic education policy by JAMB!

    • PolyGon2013

      Are you from Biafra?

    • musa aliyu

Abi/o! Dis jamb no be am. It needs be phased. It’s useless.

  • Otile

It is shocking that Saudi people donated hundreds of tones of fresh dates to their religious clients suffering hunger and disease in Arewa Nigeria, but deceiving imams deprived the people of the goods and sold the dates. Buhari must be ashamed of his Fulani barayi imams. It is also disappointing that Osibande did not say anything about this ungodly theft. The other day Osibande flew to the Core North to squash the probe of thieving emir Lamido, Fulani muslims are corrupt to the bone.

    • PolyGon2013

Why are you worried about the “zoo?” Focus on Biafra.

      • Otile

        You also focus on Oduduwa.

    • musa aliyu

Igbo Kwenu! Den no dey carry last. They’re the.most “hardworking”, ” industrious “, drug peddling, baby factoring, exam.malpracticing, billionaire kidnappers, the curse of Africa etc, etc. Otile, how market?

      • Otile

        Musa, how suicide bombing?

        • musa aliyu

E sweeter than honey! E go soon strike all of una markets in Haba, Nnewi, Onitsha, Enugu

          • Otile

Finish with Madinatul Islam, Sudaniyya, kuma Birnin Gwandu before you think of Nnewi, Osha, and Enugu. Murderous Muslumi ka ji ko?

  • PolyGon2013

43% of misconduct/technical deficiencies come from Biafran states. This people should be allowed to go. They are the ones that have been sabotaging the growth of Nigeria. No surprise though. Well, maybe I am because I was expecting them to be at least 70%. So, it is a sort of an improvement. Hail Biafra.

    • Netanyahu

I will be glad if exam malpractices and cheating generally is drastically controlled in Nigeria. But a situation where by an agitation or protest in the east is quelled with live ammunition resulting to several deaths but police ignored the directive of a state governor to arrest the arewa youths inciting and threatening Ibos in the north is the worst fraud. During elections, you see little children in kano voting and the government and INEC look elsewhere and look for scapegoats in the east or south puts this exercise into question. If this is your attempt to rubbish hardworking, honest Ibos, you have failed. All we have ever wanted is applying equal and same measures to all irrespective of tribe, religion or ethnicity. When your child needs to score 2 out of 200 to gain admission into federal government colleges and mine needs to score a minimum of 140 before he can be admitted, you do not see anything wrong with that? By the way, how many of your children applied to write the JAMB exams? But many will gain admission without going through jamb, like buhari who went to NDA without the prerequisite o level.

  • musa aliyu

Igbo Kwenu! Den no dey carry last. They’re the.most “hardworking”, ” industrious “, drug peddling, baby factoring, exam.malpracticing, etc, etc.

JAMB commended over blacklist of 48 computer based test centres
      — 15th June 2017
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has commended JAMB for blacklisting 48 Computer Based Test (CBT) centres used for the 2017 UTME.

The President of the union, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos that the owners of the blacklisted centres should also be prosecuted.

The 48 CBT centres were among more than 600 centres used for the conduct of the UTME nationwide in May.

JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, had on Wednesday announced the blacklisting of the centres for alleged involvement in extortion and ‘organised examination malpractice’ during the UTME.

Oloyede said the decision was taken at the end of an enlarged meeting with external examiners and other stakeholders in the conduct of the examination.

He also announced the cancellation of results of 50,000 candidates for alleged involvement in malpractice during the examination.

The ASUU boss said the development was a step in the right direction, describing it as “the way to go.”

“What JAMB has done in that respect is a welcome development and a good decision.

“I will not expect it to stop at just blacklisting of such centres.

“The leadership of the board should go a step forward by prosecuting owners of the affected centre in order to serve as a deterrent to others.

“This measure will further ensure that the integrity of the examination cannot be undermined,’’ Ogunyemi said.

He added that JAMB should also strive to do a thorough check on centres and their owners before engaging them in the conduct of the UTME to avoid a re-occurrence.
Try to get the news correct it’s not the students problem instead the school management.

  • Ishaku Dingba

Thank God for blacklisting VITE Kwali, FCT. I was there live. It took about 12 hrs before my son was able to write this so-called JAMB having been moved to CKC Gwagwalada. Other students wrote into the midnight.
