Twenty minutes to midnight on February 25, 2013, and a day before the board of the Central Bank of Nigeria was due to meet, Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi developed a craving for romance—he badly needed a kiss.

The governor, married, with children, grabbed his mobile phone and typed out a message.  “Maybe you should come kiss me before board meeting tomorrow,” Mr. Sanusi wrote and then squeezed the send button.

At about 9 a.m. the next day, Mrs. Maryam Yaro, a married mother of two, an assistant director and subordinate to the governor at the CBN, arrived Sanusi’s unnamed Abuja hotel, seeking to keep the date and help address her boss’ craving for a kiss.  (Insiders say board members, including those who live in Abuja, are usually lodged in hotels ahead of board meetings).

But by the time Mrs. Yaro left the hotel to return to her official desk at the CBN, the duo had also struck out an arrangement to spend the rest of the week together in Lagos.

So, in the evening of Wednesday February 27, Mrs. Yaro flew to Lagos ahead of Mr. Sanusi and checked into a hotel in the city, skipping work, at taxpayers’ expense, on Thursday February 28 and Friday, March 1.

To keep faith with Mrs. Yaro’s date, the CBN governor arrived Lagos, travelling on a chartered flight, on the night of February 28, and checked into the Federal Palace Hotel, passage and boarding all at taxpayers’ expense.

Both Mr. Sanusi and Mrs. Yaro rendezvoused in the hotel till Sunday when both of them returned to Abuja, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.

“…I had such a wonderful weekend,” Mrs. Yaro confessed to the governor while aboard her Abuja-bound flight. “You have revived in me what I thought I lost long ago. I thought I lost the passion to love again,” she claimed.

“Alhamdulillahi. Love you,” Mr. Sanusi responded in a measured tone.

Insiders say repeated violation of the statutory code of conduct for public office holders such as hiring his girlfriends and mistresses without complying with public service rules, dating married and unmarried women within the bank, and flirting with them during official work hours have become defining characters of Mr. Sanusi’s governorship of the central bank.

An official of the bank spoke of how Mr. Sanusi had enthroned nepotism at the bank, arbitrarily hiring girlfriends and relatives and engaging in extramarital relationships with staff.

“This man (the CBN governor) is the most morally bankrupt governor the CBN has ever had,” the official, who did not want to be named for fear of retribution, told PREMIUM TIMES. “Forget all the pretences, he is a shameless man of loose character.”

Investigations by this newspaper revealed that Mr. Lamido hired his latest mistress, Mrs. Yaro, without complying with the CBN recruitment policy that stressed, “all appointments shall be made on the basis of merit, through a fair and open selection process.”

“The principles underlying the recruitment process are those of fairness, credibility, equal employment opportunities, merit and optimization of career prospects for currently employed staff,” the bank said on its website.

But Mrs. Yaro, insiders say, was hired in July 2012 without adherence to these principles. Those who should know say Mrs. Yaro, who was a staff at the National Programme on Food Security, an agency under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, was brought into the bank as assistant director without  “advert for the vacancy and after a kangaroo interview.”

When contacted, Mr. Sanusi said due process was followed in hiring Mrs. Yaro.

He said having worked for years in the ministry of agric, Mrs. Yaro came highly recommended and qualified for the job for which she was hired.

The CBN governor continued, “I have known Dr. Yaro since 1981. She was my student in Yola and she later came to ABU Zaria. We have been very good friends but this is not why NIRSAL took her. You may wish to check her CV against all the other CVs in NIRSAL. And she did go through an interview process with the NIRSAL CEO making the decision not CBN HR.

“As for the personal allegations, this is all strange to me but I have a personal policy of not responding to such allegations since in Nigeria anything can be published on any public officer without proof.  I have limited myself to what concerns official allegations and leave you to your God and your conscience on whatever else you want to publish. Thank you for telling me though.”

Mrs. Yaro however declined comments when contacted by PREMIUM TIMES.

“Be careful what you are saying,” she told one of our reporters on the telephone. “I have nothing to comment to you on anything.”

When asked if she would be willing to respond to specific questions about her trips to Lagos to keep dates with Mr. Sanusi, she simply said, “Whatever it is, I don’t know. Will you just let me be?”

But our investigations revealed that the governor’s claim was far from accurate. Through several interviews and review of records, PREMIUM TIMES was able to determine that Mrs. Yaro and Mr. Sanusi had dated each other for at least six months before she was hired.

Insiders say Mr. Sanusi repeatedly pestered the human resource department of the bank ordering it to bring Mrs. Yaro’s application to him for approval. And once the file reached his table, the governor wasted no time in treating it.

On June 25, 2012, Mr. Sanusi, who was travelling in South Africa at the time, telephoned Mrs. Yaro to break the news to her that he had approved her recruitment in what critics consider a clear conflict of interest and a violation of a provision of Nigeria’s Code of Conduct which stipulates that “a public officer shall not put himself in a position where his interest conflicts with his duties and responsibilities.”

Mrs. Yaro, (whose businessman husband, Ahmed, is largely based in Kaduna but visits Abuja regularly) assumed duties at the CBN in the first week of September 2012 and was deployed to the Development Finance Department.

The department then put her in charge of the bank’s Nigerian Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System For Agricultural Lending, (NIRSAL), a unit that attempts to fix the agricultural value chain, so that banks can lend with confidence to the sector and, encourages banks to lend to the agricultural value chain by offering them strong incentives and technical assistance.

Sources said Mrs. Yaro married Ahmed (or Shuaib, according to another source) six years ago after her first husband, Waisu Yaro Bodinga (then an executive director at the Nigeria Ports Authority) died in the ill-fated ADC plane crash of 2006.

The romance between Mrs. Yaro and Mr. Sanusi became even hotter after she began work at the bank, with the two lovers regularly exchanging telephone calls and text messages during work hours to profess love for each other.

At times, Mrs. Yaro would remain in her office far beyond close of work to enable her to keep appointments with the CBN governor, records show.

Sometimes, Mrs. Yaro would raise concerns about Mr. Sanusi’s other girlfriends and mistresses (such as Sutura and Rose) and how they were blocking her from getting the governor’s full attention, but the relationship continued nonetheless.

Mrs. Yaro also began to have access to confidential information known only to top management and board of the bank, insiders say.

At a point, one source said, she began to strategise to corner contracts for one Goke Akinboro, the Chief Executive Officer of Lagos-based Cellullant Limited, an information technology company. Mr. Akinboro is also described as “very close” to Mrs. Yaro.

On March 15, 2013, the CBN lovers headed to Lagos again for another weekend of fun. The initial plan was for the duo to fly to the nation’s commercial capital on Saturday, March 16, returning to Abuja on Sunday. But the trip had to be brought forward by a day after the lovers realized that the Area Council election in Abuja was holding that Saturday and that movement might be restricted.

Mrs. Yaro arrived Lagos on the night of March 15, and immediately checked into the Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel on Victoria Island. Mr. Sanusi flew from Kano to Lagos via chartered jet on the bills of the Nigerian taxpayers. He arrived at about 11 p.m., stopped by his Ikoyi home, before dashing to the hotel where Mrs. Yaro was waiting in a seductive dress in Room 23. The lovers spent that night and the next day together in the hotel.

As he flew into Abuja March 17 on a chartered jet, Mr. Sanusi sent a message to Mrs. Yaro saying, “Love. Just landed in Abuja. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.” Mrs. Yaro replied, “Alhamdulillah. I had a wonderful weekend too. I am able to get the 3:15 flight on Arik Air. Love you.”

But in-between those rendezvous in Lagos, Mr. Sanusi and Mrs Yaro also found time to get together elsewhere.  They were to meet on March 11, 2013, in Makurdi but somehow Mrs. Yaro could not make it to the Benue State capital.  But earlier on February 14, (Valentine’s Day), the lovers had a good time together in Maiduguri. Although, the two of them travelled to the city on different missions, they somehow found a way to get together.

At a point, Mrs. Yaro voiced open frustration when Mr. Lamido delayed in taking her calls as she tried, frantically, to track him down. “I’m thinking that one Shuwa girl has snatched you away from me,” Mrs. Yaro wrote in a message. “I don’t trust them (Maiduguri girls) with you.”

A velvet-ranking figure within Nigeria’s economic and political circles, Mr. Sanusi, is generally perceived as one of the intellectual anchors and moral conscience of this administration. When his five-year term expires next year, he has indicated he would not renew his contract. Mr. Sanusi has a well-advertised ambition to become the future emir of his native Kano, where he is already a top chieftaincy holder (Dan Maje Kano). Dan Majen Kano, a historic title, which means Son of Emir-Maje, is reserved for the royal family members from the Kano Habe dynasty.

A zigzag prospect to run for the Nigerian presidency is also believed to be floating in the horizon for Mr. Sanusi.

Multiple sources at both the CBN and First Bank, where Mr. Sanusi was managing director before his appointment to the central bank, describe the governor as an “incurable womanizer.”

“This guy seems unable to resist anything in skirt, and it is unfortunate that a lot of young people look up to him as an example,” one of Mr. Sanusi’s aides in Abuja said, expressing widely held concerns in banking circles that “It is sad that he wouldn’t even let married women be.”

Mr. Sanusi, 51, appointed CBN Governor on June 3 2009, is a smart economist and award-winning banker with a background in risk management.

He holds a graduate degree in economics from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a diploma in Sharia and Islamic Studies from the African International University in Khartoum, Sudan. Today, Mr. Sanusi is also commonly regarded as an important voice in Islamic jurisprudence.

The Banker, the UK-based financial magazine honoured him in 2010 as global Central Bank Governor of the Year as well as African Central Bank Governor of the Year. In 2011, the TIME magazine listed Mr. Sanusi in its annual publication of 100 most influential people.

At the African Banker Awards gala dinner held Wednesday in Morocco, Mr. Sanusi also emerged the “2013 Africa Central Bank Governor of the Year.”

“There  is no doubt that he is a fairly effective banker,” an official of one of Nigeria’s leading banks, who requested anonymity  for fear his bank might be targeted, told PREMIUM TIMES. “But he is a man of zero morality despite his public posturing.  It is really sad.”

  • Tola

This can be all oooo am still waiting……

  • Wale Babatunde

This sound like a Nollywood script. Nevertheless, access to SLS and Mrs Yaro phone conversations, which include sms and detailed description of sensual outfit in a “private” hotel room speaks either nay or yay to this “EXCLUSIVE” report.

    • Concerned Nigerian

And those of Bill Clinton, Tiger Woods, Strauss Khan, David Petraeus and others were like Hollywood script i guess. I am beginning to think we are more morally bankrupt that the United States of America.

  • mine

    Rubbish!

  • Yahuza Magaji

I wonder why people will go digging into peoples’ life..I think this reporter is been paid to paint or ternish SLS image before the Nigerian Public.

  • mr George

What a silly, cheap conspiracy and shot at defamation. I hereby certify Premium Times “weak” and WILL unfollow if I as much as observe subsequent tripe as this…

    • Concerned Nigerian

The problem is that when you live in the dark for too long you will begin to see in it. Because it’s SLS, the act is right and should be ignored. Is he doing us a favour by doing what he is being paid to do at the CBN? And he should be overlooked when he commits an act such as this, in a society that is crying for good role models. We are certainly not ready for change in this country. Is he better than Bill Clinton, Tiger Woods, Strauss Khan and others who at some point in their lives trampled decency and morality underfoot?

  • Bash Gumi

Cooked story! I advise you leave the duo alone.

  • Bakandabo

Are u turning yellow page Premium times? Then re brand into premium gossip

  • Sylvanus Abba

in sharia law or in Islams is a crime having sex with a married woman ooooooooooooo.

    • Abdulrazaq Kayode

Same sharia forbids poke nosing into the affairs of other people.

      • supreme

@kayode, Shut up! Just make ur point n stop stressing on poke nosing as if u hav a mistress under u or u indulge in such act n don’t like people bugging u with gossip about ur life style. Mtcheeeeeew!

        • Abdulrazaq Kayode

U must be blind not to have read my post earlier. Meanwhile, I can only educate your dumb head on what the author of the comment made on sharia when it seems u are ignorant of the subject matter. If I have a mistress so what? Is it your business? If I choose not to have a mistress, is it your business again? Grow up and get a life. Meanwhile, it is only a person suffering from intellectual inferiority like you insults when an important message seems to be going around. Why not make your nasty comment with your dumb skull and stop poke nosing into other peoples’ comment.

          • SpareMe

You keep ranting about poke nosing…so what’s the business of the media in the first place? Educated man? This a report that gets a man fired in decent societies as am sure you are aware…Here we are busy babbling gibberish about poke-nosing! You are not aware occupants of certain offices are by law expected to be of sound moral certification? So why do we have Code of Conduct?

          • Abdulrazaq Kayode

LOL!!!!!! when does CBN governor’s office turned to be the Chief Imam’s office or Clergy’s office. Read between the lines of the story and you see fabricated lies. I’m not saying this because I like SLS or not, just simply because the story line looks more of lies than a report. Even to an extent of saying “Mrs. Yaro was waiting in a seductive dress in Room 23.” RUBBISH!

          • Aplus

Reading through your comment, you make me feel bad as a Yoruba. We suffer no fools in Yorubaland and if indeed your SLS is guilty of the sin, he should resign in other to protect the integrity of the office. I mean, don;t u get it? It’s about an office that should be highly esteemed with almost unquestionable integrity. It’s what Dominique Strauss Khan of the World Bank and Tiger Woods lost their face for. It’s what almost brought down Bill Clinton when he was president and head of CIA in US Retired Army Gen. David Petraeus who had to resign his post when it was found out he had extra-marital affairs especially with a subordinate. Fine, everyone seems to be doing it, but don;t u think the reason why it’s usually kept secret is because it is shameful. if then, it is shameful, it means once you head a sensitive organisation and such act is found out, you have to face the consequences. Mind you, you are even talking of a married woman here who is not divorced and to think that he by-passed all protocols and rules just to make sure the woman works near him smacks of serious moral decadence. It is even possible they go down as well right in his office. Or how else can you answer to why she must be at the CBN. Please Kayode, don’t argue like the abokis who will always protect their own the same way they see nothing wrong with Abacha till date.

      • chibuzor aniekwe

Pally forget this your poke nose panaroma and face the substantive matter. Urge SLS and Yero to request either CBN head of Media or his Personal assistant on Media to send a rebuttal or at best if he feels slighted largely, he seek legal redress. GASKIA

      • Nosa

then why does same useless sharia says those that commit adultery should be stoned to death, is that not putting nose into someone else’s affairs? You guys and your stupid sharia are nothing but hypocrites and pretender of highest others

      • Sadiq Garba

And provide for severe punishments for those who lied against others.

      • Aliu Shuaib

Kayode, I take God beg you, just SHUT UP! Na people like you dey rape neighbour’s nine-year old daughter. Poking nose, my foot. Thief!

  • Bala R

He wants be the Emir of Kano or
president of Nigeria? Not surprised with this publication.

  • Prince A Y loko

All na wash, the dude is doing his job well so let him be joor!!

  • Abdulrazaq Kayode

Well, if you claim by Islam that the duo are dating, then your offense is greater than theirs because Islam forbids pock nosing into the affairs of other people. Also, if you want to claim SLS and Mrs’ Yaro have breached the codes of conduct, then why not file a petition to the code of conduct bureau? I dont know to what extent a third class ranked Newspaper turned to an investigation arm of the government. Why not start making stories for Nollywood? Rubbish.

    • B Bash

This is no newspaper its an online Tabloid run by morons, spreading slandorous stories cause no true rule of law.

      • RuffBird

And you keep reading their slander? I trust that Premium Times, based on its pedigree, fully understands the implication of writing a baseless story before confronting a guy in the class of Sanusi…In my experience of reading them, none of its stories has yet been truly refuted…

But let’s face it, Nigeria is lost!!! If we have a report like this and very few care to really evaluate it on merit and what it tells of our leaders and how they squander our wealth, then something is wrong…So why do public officials in this kind of conduct pay heavily after media exposure in better countries? Sickening

        • Kelechi

my brother no mind dem. Nigerians will always be stupidly sentimental in everything.

If a an online tabloid or whatever it is writes fabricated lies against a person of the calibre of the CBN governor, naming names and dates and locations and the CBN governor does not have the confidence to even confront them or go to court for libel. Then there must be some truth in it

    • chibuzor aniekwe

I saw something like an ID card hanging down your neck. You should approach matter with maturity and not say things in manner that is diversionary. I do not want to believe this write up but I also not expect you in a literate world and in 21st century to bring sin of pock-nose and whatever in issues that touches moral fabric of a National Steward. It also does not make any difference weather the publication is done by 5th class newspaper; what is important is the veracity of the content. Wiki-leak was never known before its world shocking revelations that was published. The Newspaper has no much duty to file petition than it has done making publication. This is the Newspapers corporate and Professional calling and it has discharged it in the best of professional standard by showing instances where the reporter tried to give the duo(like you called them) right of fair hearing but they arrogantly decline details. Let Sanusi and/or Madam Yero file a libel suit instead or at least refute the publication before we can judge. But my guy, Islam has nothing to do with this because Sanusi nor Mrs. Yero does work in a Mosque.

      • uduakomiri

        Well said!

    • uduakomiri

Islam is not relevant on this issue as 65 per cent of Nigerians are not even muslims. The question is an issue of conflict of interest, reckless use of taxpayers funds, and behaviour that brings the office of the CBN governor into disrepute.

  • trendy

This is disgusting story. I am ashamed of this reporter. Did you get into people’s text messages? You need to cover your head in shame.

    • Kelechi

If you are CBN governor of a country like Nigeria or any other country for the matter and somebody prints “fabricated lies” against you like this wont you use all you have to make sure they pay with all they have.

So ask yourself why is he not doing anything.

Get your head outta ur asses Nigerians please!!!

    • Ade

Most of the defense here are hinged on how the reporter got the sms and it clearly shows how uneducated we are in this country. We use mobile phones without understanding how the traffic are routed from source to destination and to also know that they can be snoop, or tapped using very simply and inexpensive technologies. These malams are very corrupt and wasteful. This religion seems to shield the rich against sin and corruption while very vehement in punishing the poor for very little offences.
Malam challenge this report!!!! Lets see who is a liar

  • Asabi

“Mrs. Yaro was waiting in a seductive dress in Room 23.”. Premium, did u enter d room with the woman or how did u know she was waiting in a seducitve dress. This publication is full of shit abeg

    • Funso

This was the most shocking part of the write-up for me, how did they know that, are they spirits?

      • esaulogbon

They probably have insiders in the hotels. Some of you are so stupid… you really do not know what investigative journalism is.

        • A. Arzet

I like smart people like you who think with there feet. An insider in such 5 star hotel also live in same room with Mrs yaro. Or were they peeing through the door or window? Or she called a servant and sent him for an errand and he saw what she had on? You think they will be that stupid knowing fully there status in the society. SLS cant be hidden any where in Nigeria. Another jaw breaking lie was that they went to Maiduguri for valentine. Who on earth will go to battle ground for valentine? I have never seen an unprofessional editorial like this ever in my life. Last year we saw some Photoshop pictures of SLS with some women. The work was done by an amateur such that you see an extra hand on it. We also remember many publications aimed at soiling his image last year. SLS stepped on toes of many big guys particularly those thieves heading Banks before. They will never relent going after him. SLS is lucky to be globally recognized as some one doing his job excellently well. So let his detractors say what ever they want.

    • http://twitter.com/GeekoXX Geeky XX

Premium Times carry binoculars dey follow SLS. You know say dem be CIA, SSS, FBI, Mossad, NIA, MI5

    • we nogo die

Its cos you don’t know anything about investigative journalism. I’m not standing in for premium but have you ever being in a hotel? If you have, you should know that hotel attendants and concierge do enter rooms one way or the other to serve or usher in a guest. Its enough to know the room no and the occupants, the rest depends on a journalists relations with staff of the hotel. I know some gossip a lot. Pls, let Sanusi and his mistress contest everything, including text messages. They have the right to even go to court.

      • A. Arzet

Attendants and concierge enter rooms when the occupant allow them in, Mrs yaro knows fully SLS can not be hidden any where in Nigeria, will never allow servants in while she knows he will be around, talk less of presenting her self seductively dress before the attendant(or may be she wanted to seduce the attendant and use him before SLS comes). Or were they peeing through the door or window? Another jaw breaking lie was that they went to Maiduguri for valentine. Who on earth will go to battle ground for valentine? I have never seen an unprofessional editorial like this in my life. Last year we saw some Photoshop pictures of SLS with some women. The work wasdone by an amateur such that you see an extra hand on it. We also remember many publications aimed at soiling his image last year. SLS

        • uduakomiri

You don’t know how dumb public officials are the world over until you get very close to them especially when they are spending taxpayers fund. These species of human beings can be quite stupid regardless of their intelligence and status.

Based on your argument, would anybody in Nigeria have imagined Abacha eating apples off the hands of a Lebanese prostitute? In 1990 when Gideon Orkar’s henchmen, Umukoro went to the state house guest house in Dodan Baracks, they trailed Abacha to his usual hang-outs but he outsmarted them in spite of the fact the coupists shot all the guards. Abacha hid in one of the rooms with an Uzi at the ready. It was that very Abacha that led the fight back that crushed the Orkar coup.

So what am I saying? Nigerian public officials could hide from the public but they can’t hide from one thing: their indulgent lifestyles. And this is where they are vulnerable to being snooped on. When you are having fun, or at least the irresistible urge to do so, people tend to drop all guards-I mean literally throwing caution to the wind.

Again on the issue of text messages, these are easy to pick up. Just ask any mobile phone technician and they’d let you know how easy it is. In those days GSM got to Nigeria, if you wanted to listen to anybody’s phone conversation, you could press a combination of special keys plus that person’s number adding hash at the end. When they pick their phone, you can easvesdrop on all their calls.

Another method, as seen in the phone hacking scandal in the UK was to ring a particular number’s network provider’s voice mail box from another phone as if you are that individual. Now there is always a default voice mail password which comes with the phone. Many people hardly bother to change the default password. So when prompted, all you had to do was key in the default password, and you could listen to their voice messages.
On the internet there are even more advanced methods which people could buy for as low as #25k and you could have access to a particular number’s messages, phone logs etc.
There is a possibility Premium Times might have used one of these tricks. It might be wrong elsewhere but I don’t know if Nigeria has any valid privacy laws outlawing unlawful access to another person’s computer and mobile phones. That reflects how much in the ‘dark’ with are with modern law making.

    • chinedu orazu

It is not full of shit…..clearly the two love birds were being tracked and snooped on without them knowing.

    • Andy

If you check into an hotel don’t you give your particulars at the lobby? Please investigate if Mrs. Yaro was in that hotel and that room of the same date. Asked Sanusi driver if oga did not drove himself out that same night. If man and woman meet in an hotel room do they wear space kits?

    • FredrikJones

Your question should have been; how did they know what she wore?

The answer might have been….Maybe a camera was in the room? Or the waiter that served the room saw what she was wearing on delivering drinks/food?

Then ask yourself this question. Why is he not suing for defamation? That is what i would have done. And this is why I believe the article is correct.

This type of response is a contributory factor in the endless ‘iyanje’ folks in Nigeria suffers from.

      • Tom

If a camera was in the room, the pictures or video would have gone viral.

  • george rukewe

Firstly, this story sounds terribly false. I mean exactly how did you get hold of the text messages they allegedly exchanged? Then, even if it were true how does it adversely affect his competence? Does it in anyway affect the policies implemented which saved the sector from collapsing? Because that is his primary assignment…which he does so well. So unless you are accusing him of rape, what goes on btw 2 CONSENTING ADULTS is strictly their business, if we’re assuming your story to be true!

    • OLA PEDRO

E RUFAI, SANUSI AND RIBADU ALL SUFFER FROM THE SPIRIT OF WOMANIZING-YET WANTTO BE PRESIDENTS OF NIGERIA BECAUSE OF THEIR FULANI BACKGROUND-ITS IS SHAME TO HAVE A DSK AS GOVERNOR OF CBN-ANODA IS BUHARI

    • JAMES

I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU THINK A PUBLIC MARRIED FIGURE DATING A MARRIED WOMAN IS RIGHT….AND CONSESUAL….ACCOUNTABILITY DOES NOT MEAN ANYTHING TO NIGERIANS;;;;THAT IS WHY WE ARE BACKWARD EVEN IN AFRICA…KENYA WITH NO CRUDE OIL NOR NATURAL RESOURCE IS SLOWLY LEADING AND AHEAD OF NIGERIANS….WITH PEOPLE OF YOUR CALIBER AT THE HELM OF AFFAIRS…DUMB IDIOT.

    • Umar

I agree with you Mr George. Seriously PREMIUM TIMES unless you are an entertainment magazine, how relevant is this news to a common Nigerian. Not to talk of it being a headline news. You guys (PREMIUM TIMES) have to be better than this showbiz-like media reporting. It could be worthwhile if you link this STORY up with things like fund diversion, illegal contracts and all. With this news, you will only hurt his family at best. BE PROFESSIONAL

      • Kelechi

If the blatant moral ineptitude of the people in positions of influence in your country is not relevant to you, then there is real trouble in the country. A CBN governor hiring his girlfriend and playing all sorts of hanky-panky at work when he should be doing his work.
Flying charter flights on tax payers money to go have sex with another man’s wife in a hotel paid for with your money. Should i continue!!!

        Please Nigerians grow up

        • Leke

This is a shit. Look for a good story. Why can you compile your evidences and sue him. Court while in office.

    • Peter2000

I personally don’t care what Sanusi is doing with his John Thomas, but I am quite amazed at the reaction from the mallam’s supporters . If this story was about Jonah or PDP, they will all, become people of virtue instantly.

      • ahmad

isn’t sanusi part of the jonathan team?

      • talknado

OBJ did it! JONA is doing it!……… maybe its a requirement these says…….come to think of it, some of you are doing it. These days things like this are ok, as long as you don’t get caught.

Ignorance that what you are… like Christians dont do worst asshole

  • Dankasa

Now all these now?? Why not in Same February?? Lamido was in Dutse, Jigawa State to celebrate the Democrazy day not in Abuja as one the GEJ surrogates that’s why all these are coming up now. This is Ruben Abetie’s script, a man who is at work (using media) to destroy anyone who seem to have offended GEJ. Premium Times should should not be used for all these nonsense.

    • Afam

Then who is writing the one premium times have been circulating since 2012?

  • Emeka K Duru

Dangerous liaison that is sweetest:Forbidden fruit.:

  • solemoj

But it happens in every organisation,so why are u people making it like a strange thing. Beside, that is Private & personal affair. If they give any of you chance to hold that kind of post, you will even do worse than that. so leave them alone.

    • Syca

True! Public officials steal / loot in every office, so why are we here yelling about Jonathan and his government being corrupt? We should just wait and hope that it gets to our turn so we can steal as much as we want…everyone is doing it anyway, so it’s justified.
      What a shame!

      • Aplus

Did you read where it was stated that the woman (though low ranking) is already privy to information she shouldn’t have but for the fact that she is amorously close to the Gov? B’cos of what he represent, it’s no longer a personal issue. Then if everyone is doing it according to you, why are they doing it secretly? If it’s such a good thing why won’t I openly ask to sleep with your wife. It saddens to the marrow to discover that the word ‘SHAME’ as a word no longer have space in Nigeria’s vocabulary. Trampling on all rules and procedures to get your woman friend to work in the CBN because you head it is a shame on its own. If he is not so morally sound to know how much dent this can have on our collective psyhe, then I won;t be surprised if we discover him to have printed Naira notes for onward delivery to his house. Abi no be everybody they do that one too? Yeye!

  • Ayeni Chris Tunji

Why publish this trash on this highly respected Nigerian? Well, I trust the indifatigable CBN governor Sanusi Lamido will not be disturbed by this character assassination. Sanusi as put back the confidence in Nigeria bank, and his given a 2nd term should not be negotiable.

    • chibuzor aniekwe

Ayeni Chris, Sanusi as a man behind CBN Governor is sound, courageous and has made remarkable imprints in the sand of time. But like most men, including Clintosky of the celebrated Lewinsky, he fell for this same thing which might have also happened to Adam. So do you expect the publisher to run after already disrespected members of the society?. That is why the newspaper has to sell and also why Public Officers should guide their conducts with eternal vigilance. Sanusi as CBN Governor may be different from Sanusi in a relaxation mood. I give my respect

    • Aliu Shuaib

Ayeni, on what basis did you conclude it was fabricated? So, because Sanusi restored confidence in our banking sector as you put it, means he should not be above board in his conduct as a public officer? Let me tell you why we should worry if his actions are proven true. Any one who does not feel any qualms about sleeping around with somebody’s wife in hotels at taxpayers’ expense can also cut corners with his work.

  • Ekon

Rubbish report, full of lies and attempted blackmail but all in vain.

  • Funso

This is absolutely ridiculous, shame on the journalist that came up with this rubbish, he is definitely a disgrace to his profession.

  • bosun

I think this is Sanusi Lamido personal life. So far it does not distract him from discharging his duties as CBN governor.

  • AMINU JEGA

PLS STOP THIS ACT OF SPREADING FALASSIOUS STORIES. HOW DID U GET THOSE TXT MSGS AND WERE YOU WITH THEM IN THE HOTELS AND ON THE PLANE? YOU CAN TRY FOOLING SOME PPL BT YOU CANT FOOL ALL OF US.

  • Mukaddas Muhammed

Given that this is an absolute rubbish tale aimed at blackmailing the duo of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and Mrs. Yaro, what disgusts me most is the fact that people like Femi Fani Kayode are those retweeting it.

    • Victor Alams

Fani-Kayode can retweet what he wants, out of pathological hatred for SLS, but the truth is that this salacious story cannot go unchallenged. I am cocksure SLS will hit back at the appropriate time.

      • Sepsis

Then you are damn terrible are basic understanding…Read his reaction to the story and those of Mrs. Yaro, you should be able to decipher it is true or not; or whether they have a line of defence of not. You sound plain DUMB though…

        • Mafar_Ka

You mean the reaction above published by the same Premium Times?

  • Okikiola Beckley

If you are to judge we men by our sexuality that will be no man left in the world that is competent enough to do any job.

    • Mshelia

As much as I do not encourage promiscuity in any way,God blee u for being real.

    • Sabo Ahmed Mohammed

That is true. But if I have to commit adultery, it would not be with a married woman.

    • Syca

But the same men make the rules that guide the running of these institutions and ‘oga’ signed and agreed to it when he got into office.

So why can’t he be held responsible for breaking this same rule?…Cos he’s a man? And men unfortunately are unable to control their sexual urges (as I understand from what you wrote)?

If that is the case, why make rules at all? Why don’t we just live like animals so no one gets held accountable for anything?

We sure have a long way to go! God help us all!

      • Okikiola Beckley

Very correct Syca. The problem with humans is our big brain which differentiates us from other animals and it gives us the capacity for great thinking that far outstrips our power to handle it emotionally. Laws were made to guide us so that the planet will be a better place for everybody but our natural impulses will often overide these laws which leads to immorality and crime.

    • Aplus

Would you then be sincere to tell us what you will do if the lady in question is your wife. It also means than once anyone is doing well whatever they are paid to do in the first place, but are found to lack simple integrity, once should forgive them. If a thief carts away your belongings, sells it and give some of the proceeds to beggars, he should be forgiven when caught since he is charitable. There are rules Mr. Okiki, and it must be obeyed no matter who you are or else with the kind of power the C-in-C wields, he could wake up one day and demand to sleep with your wife. Or is that different from what Sanusi has done?

  • Joe

Well! The last paragraph said everything. This peice might have come from a person or group of persons touched by the governor’s (Sanusi) banking reform policies, whom might have enriched himself with depositors’ savings leading to almost collapse of the banking sector and breakdown of Nigerian economy. They were exposed by Sanusi’s reforms, now trying to settle scourge against any of his future prospects. To Sanusi, his family, Maryam, her hisband and family members should endure this trying moment and repose God in defiant of all challenges. Hope Premium Times will be a medium of transparent investigative journalism.

Hear PremiumTimes, …”Both Mr. Sanusi and Mrs. Yaro rendezvoused in the hotel till Sunday when both of them returned to Abuja, PREMIUM TIMES learnt.”

…Now, my problem is that I don’t understand the meaning of that sentence. When you say they rendezvoused what exactly do you mean? Is it that they “miumiumiu” or they “rugbene” or did they “yorkoryorkor”? Citizens of the United SS&SE need to know, bcos it is their oil money that the idiots are spending in hotels.

…See how Strauss Khan, the former IMF presido was given the boot for “curlobying” a hotel staff even though it was ‘consensual’. But in Continent Nigeria, nothing will happen to Malam Sanusi bcos Nigeria is NOT a country but a continent. This is why continent Nigeria MUST break up, so that the peoples of the constiyuent Nations, can deal with their erring public officials in the best way they deem fit. Secession is the answer. Period.

Long live the United Republic of the oily SS&SE

It is a well known fact that PREMIUM TIMES is pro Islam, pro Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani, pro Atiku and to a lesser extent pro El Rufai. It is also a well known fact that PREMUIM TIMES is anti Jonathan, anti Christianity, anti Middle Belt, anti South-South, and anti South-East. For PREMIUM TIMES to publish this extremely damaging article against born-to-rule Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, I have no single doubt in my mind that this report is very, very true. In fact, I am convinced that the report has been highly edited to minimize the damage to Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. There are more that PREMIUM TIMES is hiding and with-holding from the public on this scandal than it has so far published. This article is intended to benefit his fellow Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani who see him as a threat in 2015. I will be very surprised if Atiku and/or El Rufai have no hands in this.

If the behaviour has no effect on you or any other Nigerians, then what is the effect of the jail term for gays and lesbians, as what they do in the conner of their rooms as no bearings towards anybody’s life? can you answer that. this is how we only agree with what agrees with us but not looking as the content as it affect the country as a whole, this kind of behaviour bring about many negativities towards the citizens and the country as a whole if you can sit down and analyse what is happening through this relationship, most of which are not good for the country

  • latif

I totally disagree with most of the comments in this forum. Can’t people see that the information given by premium times is detailed and specific? This shows it was an intelligent gathering. Content of text, call records and place of calls can be obtained from network providers. These information are very easy for government security agencies to obtain.I challenge sanusi and Marian yaro to sue this newspaper if the above information is false. We should be concern if our public office holders are not what they claim to be.

Hahaha…. Some Kano mafia’s don’t want man to be Emir…lol.

  • Kufre Okon

In a more responsible society, this allegation is enough to cause Sanusi to be suspended by the CBN board until he is found to be clean. I am not saying Sanusi is guilty as alleged, after all we know that these days Premium Times itself is morally debased. They reported two weeks ago that President Jonathan was drunk and that was why he was not there to present a paper at themarking of AU’s 50 years. Meanwhile Mr President was having a sideline meeting with UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon. Sanusi is a known irresponsible and reckless person, and this is why I cannot completely disregard this story. Let the CBN board rise to investigate this and carry out appropriate actions.
I also use this opportunity to call on Muslims to be ready to declare FATWA on Sanusi, or cut one of his hands in line with Sharia law.

@3.00pm Sunday June 2, 2013: URGENT URGENT URGENT PRESS RELEASE: We the born-to-rule Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani cannot wash our dirty linens in public like Ibos, Yorubas, Niger Deltans and Middle Belters. There should be no further comments on this scandal with immediate effect. Our (Almajiri Nigerien born) Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani born-to-rule Speaker of the House of the Muslim North (formerly House of Representatives) Hon Aminu Tambuwaal has just called an emergency session of the House of the Muslim North to discuss a matter of urgent national importance bothering on an attempt by the Presidency to read and photocopy a document pasted on PREMIUM TIMES website detailing the sexual immoralities and adulterous activities of the CBN Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. The seesion will hold today Sunday June 2, 2013 starting @3.30PM. Please expect live updates!!!!!

  • Mani_Kay

@4.00pm Sunday June 2, 2013: URGENT LIVE UPDATE: All members of the House of the Muslim North unanimously condemned the President Good luck Jonathan for reading and attempting to photocopy the scandalous article pasted on Premuim Times website detailing the sexual immoralities and adulterous activities of the born-to-rule Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani CBN Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. The members warned that the President will be impeached if he fails to tender an unreserved apology to the House before 6pm today; enough is enough. In addition the House set up a 15man committee to investigate the scandalous report on Premium Times website and report back to the whole House before 5pm today. Signed by the following trusted sycophants: Hon Gbajabiamila, Hon Dakuku Peterside, Hon Victor Ogene, Hon Emmanuel Jime.

@5.15pm Sunday June 2, 2013: LIVE UPDATE : The House of the Muslim North presided over by the Speaker Hon Aminu Tambuwaal today received and considered the report of the 15man committee assigned to investigate the alleged sexual immoralities and adulterous activities of the CBN Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. The House found President Goodluck Jonathan guilty of attempting to read and photocopy the scandalous report on Premium Times website. Accordingly the House passed a resolution banning the President from reading or photocopying anything from any website worldwide and till further notice. Furthermore, the House agreed as follows with the findings of the committee: 1). Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi does not even own a telephone handset and therefore could not have been in communication with anybody male or female. 2). Mallam Sanusi Lamido who was responsible for the Kano beheading of Gideon Akakula is a devout Muslim who has never seen or touched a woman in his life. The only woman he ever saw but never touched is his mother. 3.) There are no Hotels in all the cities traveled to by Sanusi including Abuja, Lagos, Markudi, Maiduguri. The committee confirmed that Sanusi always sleeps in the Mosque whenever he travels out of his home. 4.). The investigating committee discovered that Sanusi has no idea of what people call romance and the words they use in romance like love, kiss, etc. The only words known to Sanusi are verses he memorized from the Holy Book. There are other findings which are contained in the committed report; but on the whole the committee and the House completely finds Sanusi Lamido Sanusi not guilty and he is completely exonerated. The House demands that the Police should pull the article off the web, arrest and prosecute Premuim Times and all those who visited their website and read the scandallous article. Those who commented on the article should be sent to jail straight without trial. Signed Hon Aminu Tambuwaal

VICTIMS OF BANKING REFORMS FIGHTING BACK

    • Mani_Kay

This has nothing to do with Banking reforms. Go to First Bank and UBA and ask questions. Virtually everybody there will tell you confirmed graphic filthy stories of Sanusi and women including married women, office tea girls and cleaners. This woman problem with Sanusi pre-dated the Banking Reforms. Again, Premium Times is Pro Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani interests and will never publish something like this against Sanusi if they are not extremely sure of their facts and if the story is not very, very true. In fact, you will be shocked to find that what Premium Times have with=held from public domain is 1000times more than what they have published.

      • Victor Alams

        Dear Mr character assassin,
        1) Pls supply us the names of the married women, office tea girls and cleaners with whom Sanusi has ” confirmed filthy stories” in First Bank and UBA.
        2) Show us proof that Premium Times is “Pro Northern Muslim Hausa-Fulani”.
        3) I assure you, we wont be “shocked”, so reveal to us what Premium Times “have withheld from public domain (that) is 1000times more than what they have published”.
Or hold your piece forever, instead of reinforcing such an injurious story about the CBN Governor. How disgusting! How wicked! How malicious can a story be?

      • Aso Bobo

        Mani_Kay,

What will it profit a man to assassinate another’s character? You talk about confirmed graphic filthy stories, prove it by publishing names after all Premium Times (PT) has done so by attempting to impugn the integrity of another. I may not like Sanusi approach to issues, but going this far to score a cheap point is in itself a disgraceful act. In my view, PT has sunk below the lowest level of journalism. What was published reads like poorly written fiction.

  • Mani_Kay

This is ridiculous on the part of premium times and sponsors. Without holding brief for anyone, Sanusi is an achiever when u reflect on his tenure at the apex bank. Please find some other better things to do and stop wasting our precious time.

  • Njoku Abali

just listen to the logic of your narration, you had access to their text messages, and saw the dress the lady was wearing and also knows the CBN recruitment policy. you must be a spirit.

  • Labaran Joshua

This story wants to take advantage of innocent readers’ gulibility. Its high time we change out mindset in believing hook line and sinker all the non-sense we read in the media. Its quite unfortunate that Premium Times has now joined group of junk writers.

    • BELLODANSAMMARI

is it a narration? it is a fabrication–AND A ASTUPID ONE AT RTHAT

  • Mani_Kay

@aminu jega: Please be informed that it is very easy to get those text messages and it is also very easy to trail Sanusi and his mistress to all the hotels they use. It is also very easy to send an investigator to accompany the woman; in fact the investigator can seat next to her on the airplane and hear all her conversations. What is unfolding here is a thorough job or what I will call excellent investigative journalism. Premium Times must be commended. They are known for things like this.

    • Pratson

Thank you Mpiti-Kwelu for thinking right. I guess the guys deserve praise! But when it gets to Jonathan too, accept the depth of the investigative journalism..

  • MUSTASH

For me, Premium Times has lost its crediblity. This medium may hurt Sanusi and the lady by this story, but the mediu!m has only succeeded in destroying its credibilty. Some of us in the media business can tell what a story aims to achieve when we read one. But even a novice in journalism can see what this report is: PIECE OF SHIT!!!

    • RuffBird

And you keep reading their shit? I trust that Premium Times, based on its pedigree, fully understands the implication of writing a baseless story before confronting a guy in the class of Sanusi…In my experience of reading them, none of its stories has yet been truly refuted…Again, I can tell you, you know nothing about the media.

But let’s face it, Nigeria is lost!!! If we have a report like this and very few care to really evaluate it on merit and what it tells of our leaders and how they squander our wealth, then something is wrong…So why do public officials in this kind of conduct pay heavily after media exposure in better countries? Sickening

  • we nogo die

When it comes to morality, most Nigerians are rogues. I don’t really mean Sanusi but most of the people, staking their necks in his defence. Mallams who will be the first to carry stones against helpless pregnant teens in the name of Islam are now profusely quoting the Qur’an in defence of Sanusi. Aha.
Again, though I am from the north(there’s nothing anybody can do about that) I do know that if this story is about Jonathan, these mallams would have declared fatwa on him without questioning anything.
I am not worthy to cast a stone at anybody, but all who have posted comments against premium here, pls read the story of one man called Tiger Wood. I don’t think Sanusi has worked harder than this man, except that they belong to societies that view morality from different spectrums. Empty people.

  • ODUNTAN KEMI

Hahaha…. Some Kano mafia’s don’t want man to be Emir…lol.

  • ODUNTAN KEMI

This sound like a Nollywood script. Nevertheless, access to SLS and Mrs Yaro phone conversations, which include sms and detailed description of sensual outfit in a “private” hotel room speaks either nay or yay to this “EXCLUSIVE” report.

  • South delta nation

I blame the stewpid husband that cannot use a very dangerous potent charm and lace her vagina with it. The next time the he goat Sanusi goes into her he stays put there, gummed permanently by supernatural forces” they will both confess publicly before they die. That is what men from my own tribe would do to the long list of stewpid married women we have desecrating the marital bed in this lost generation. God help us the men!!!

  • B Bash

Who Ever paid your lame glorified online Tabloid Blog can’t save you. You want to do investigative Journalism? Go verify what Yvonne Ndenge reported about JTF and war crimes in Borno, or better yet the reporter should go and cover the conflict.

  • YAKUBU HASKE

Why publish this trash on this highly respected Nigerian? Well, I trust the indifatigable CBN governor Sanusi Lamido will not be disturbed by this character assassination. Sanusi as put back the confidence in Nigeria bank.

  • gentle giant

This is disgusting story. I am ashamed of this reporter. Did you get into people’s text messages? You need to cover your head in shame.

  • Lanre

Are the responses I am reading to this scandal from Nigerians? Indeed Nigeria is finished. Simple. If the reactions to the alleged shenanigans by the keeper to the treasury of Nigeria does not shock any Nigerian then Nigeria’s problems are its own people. Goodluck Jonathan, Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida are all reflections of the decrepit state of mind of Nigerians.

A public officer has a code of conduct that he is supposed to abide by. Not even Sanusi that goes around moralising about the proper behavior of others in society. If this story is true (and I can see why not since Premium Times will not lay its reputation on the line), then Nigeria is a lost cause. Nigeria is made up of a majority of morally bankrupt individuals who are only waiting for an opportunity to milk the system. Sanusi if this story is true, please tender your letter of resignation and leave. Paul Wolfowitz did same. Ditto Dominique Strauss-Kahn. It won’t be the first time a Public Officer is lying about his private morality.

    • Syca

Thank you oh Lanre! I can’t believe what this country has become! There is a policy or code of conduct which he has clearly broken and should be made to pay (whether or not his religion permits it). The fact that it happens everywhere does not make it right! The fact that a lot of fathers abuse their kids and men rape women without being punished does not make it right!

If this story is true, then he should be made to face the consequences!

And the people yelling about ‘invasion of privacy’…seriously???

People really need to grow brains and keep theirs sentiments in their pockets! If something is wrong, it is wrong…irrespective of who did the wrong.

      • Lanre

Thank you Syca. I have tried to analyse and rationalize the reactions of some. I am still doing my studies but I am pinning it down to access to the internet and possible relationship with the principal actors. When the conscience of a society is numbed and dead, charlatans become leaders.

    • Kelechi

      Thank you broda.

      Exactly my thought

Spot on, Lanre. God bless you real good.

Premium Times has descended into mediocrity-and banality- and IDIOCY

  • BELLODANSAMMARI

Well! The last paragraph said everything about this allegation. This peice might have come from a person or group of persons touched by the governor’s (Sanusi) banking reform policies, whom might have enriched himself or themselves with depositors’ savings leading to almost collapse of the banking sector and breakdown of the Nigerian economy. They were exposed by Sanusi’s reforms, now trying to settle scourge against any of his future prospects.
To Sanusi, his family, Maryam, her hisband and family members, they should try to endure this trying moment and repose to God in defiant of all challenges.
Sanusi serve as a role model of efficient service delivery in the banking sector, both at the apex bank and the banking industry, the youth are waiting to emulate.
Hope Premium Times will be a medium of transparent investigative journalism not a medium of incrimination and coercion

the person who is following up another person is often smarter!
are all the flight records correct? were some info provided close to the corridor of the happenings in CBN?
surely there is no smoke without fire.
but yes, like many before Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (CBN gov) until he vacates that seat many things will be held from the public. all will come rolling as soon as the chapter of his job there ends.
i remember a black American lady commenting about Barack Obama when she was asked if the US president will not fail the people; her response was they will NEVER allow that to happen. they simply created an arsenal around the man- to keep him on the right track.
US president’s success is the success for all black Americans and his failures is theirs too.
are there people around the CBN gov that can put him on the right track or is he engrossed with the glamour of being in charge and give no damn like his boss swallowing all the dirt that happens in public office? is not everyone that falls for the same trap but that could only happens as a result of knowledge of where some decision will take them and the ability to hold.
when the governor assumed duty four years ago he brought so much shaking to the banking arena. barely a month after assuming the position he has conducted a review of the banks in Nigeria and five banks were found wanting. he did not give room for redress but chose to cut off the bank completely from the face of Nigerian banking sector- surely he succeeded.
it is not about the errors of the MDs; if they are guilty they should go in for it but why destroy an ongoing business on account of one person?
i can’t imagine Dangote takes actions that primary four pupil knows the repercussion of.

THE SANUSI AFFAIR: LOVE IN PREMIUM TIMES
By msrinsola June 2, 2013 Articles No Comments
The competition in the Nigerian Blogosphere is stiff – there are so many online blogs and magazines, all struggling to generate traffic and get hits in order to attract adverts – so when I read about the (alleged) Sanusi Affair on Premium Times this morning, I wasn’t quite surprised. However, the sloppily written, poorly investigated piece left me with more questions than answers. Firstly, why on earth would two (married) lovers keep such damaging messages on their phones; and assuming that they were careless enough to throw caution to the wind, would such epic carelessness also not posses them to keep equally incriminating pictures? Why were none published? Whoever had enough time to leak messages must surely have had more than enough access to pictures too.
    Taking a leaf from foreign tabloids, when such scandals are exposed to the public, they usually back up the stories with hard, irrefutable evidence, or elicit confessions from one or both parties where this evidence is lacking. The only slightly professional thing that the writer did was to place calls to Mallam Sanusi Lamido and Mrs. Maryam Yaro, and his [alleged] comment – quoted below – sums it all up;
“I have known Dr Yaro since 1981. She was my student in Yola and she later came to ABU Zaria. We have been very good friends but this is not why NIRSAL took her. You may wish to check her CV against all the other CVs in NIRSAL. And she did go through an interview process with the NIRSAL CEO making the decision not CBN HR. As for the personal allegations, this is all strange to me but I have a personal policy of not responding to such allegations since in Nigeria anything can be published on any public officer without proof. I have limited myself to what concerns official allegations and leave you to your God and your conscience on whatever else you want to publish. Thank you for telling me though.”
With my experience in media, I can say with a good degree of certainty that this is a targeted smear campaign. The writer, however, could have feigned non-existent objectivity and not have made his intentions so obvious from the start.
Anybody privy to their travelling plans could have supplied the necessary dates and proceeded to build a mansion of Hints Magazine-type stories, using these details as the foundation. The whole story is based on purely circumstantial evidence, with not one shred of physical evidence to back it up.
Surely, if they had been so careless with their phones that a third party gained access to their messages, did this mysterious agent copy out their messages, forward them to his (or her) phone, or take screenshots and send them via email, BBM or Bluetooth? If the messages were copied out on a piece of paper, or via ‘copy and paste’, then this case holds no water and could easily be dismissed as cheap blackmail – this would also be the case if the messages were forwarded to the informant’s phone as their original source can not be ascertained (the sender’s phone number also proves nothing, the informant could have had enough time to compose messages using any of their phones). The only substantive evidence that could suffice in this case is a screen munch (several actually), and if either of their phones were tapped, then a case could be made against Premium Times for invasion of privacy.
The only thing that this article confirms, however, is that Sanusi does have superhuman abilities, because unless his eyes are components of a state-of-the-art recording/transmitting device, then I wonder just how the writer of this article was able to determine just what type of dress Mrs. Yar0 allegedly wore when she welcomed her lover to her hotel room; if a camera in the hotel lobby or one conspicuously aimed at her door in the hallway captured this, then could they kindly provide us with a picture? (This would definitely be a small feat for a news outlet resourceful enough to see outfits in private rooms)
This is Nigeria – if Premium Times had any incriminating evidence, they surely would have published it. While accidental media practitioners are best avoided when they choose to slander people, it remains highly imperative for examples to be made of those who refuse to listen to their conscience, those who choose to sacrifice true journalism and deductive reasoning at the alter of sensationalism and blog hits, and who fail to abide by the noble ethos of the wonderful profession that is journalism. I would advise Mrs. Yaro to sue.
Sanusi is a man and our society is essentially a patriarchal one – whoever sponsored this story obviously has a score to settle with the Mallam, but this is Africa where men get away with many things and we know that the effects that this might have on him would be nothing compared to what Mrs. Yaro would most likely go through. An allegation of adultery is not something that a married woman just shrugs off, and whether or not this story is true (I highly doubt that it is, and a true story without facts to back it up is as good as a poorly-narrated tale), she has to take decisive action.
This could either be aimed at destroying the Mallam’s career, or settling a score with Mrs. Yaro; either – or both – of them could be the target. It is not exactly news that many within the CBN are not satisfied with Sanusi and claim that he has not achieved much internally, and this could very well be the handwork of a disgruntled associate (or a group of disgruntled elements).
I do, however, wonder just how that kind of article – with the many broken laws, filled with highly sensational conjecture – made it past a qualified editor. If this is what blogging has reduced journalism to, then I fear for the future of this noble profession in Nigeria.

I thought Lamido Sanusi is very intelligent man. When he took down rogue Bank CEO’s and serial bank debtors who does not service their loans, he should have known they will fight back. From the above story, this is the work of secret private investigators. His phone and that of the lady(ladies) were tapped. If it is so, then there may be hidden video of the affair or even video of Sanusi having sex with these ladies. I don’t know what Nigeria law says about secret taping of individual without their consent.

  • Gezawa

I am highly disappointed in premiumtimes, this is beneath your reputation. You fall my hands PM.

  • Eagle

    Simply nonsense!

  • Joshua C. King

I’m disappointed really. PT this is yellow journalism below the yellow journalism tape. This is the most scandalous exclusive story that has no evidence whatsoever to back its many incredulous claims. SLS may be an effective CBN governor but his character weakness of womanizing if true should not become headline news on PT. And even if PT has evidence, they should have been part of this story. It is obviously all too fictitious to even the Nollywood faithful.

  • Ustaz Umar Sanusi

The least I expect from Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is that he should resign immediately as Governor of CBN and publicly defend himself. This is very embarrassing for Islam especially as it concerns a man that publicly professes strict adherence to Islamic tenets. It is even more embarrassing because the woman involved is also a Muslim and married. In this matter strict Islamic Sharia law must be applied without wavering. This is just one side of the story, people must wait to hear from all the parties before they rush to judgement.

  • I Dey 4 Naija

Shut up all of you people. Let the accused go to court, in doing so they will either get redress or Premium Time will be vindicated

  • Undisputed truth

Very interesting story. If it is true and he has proved himself to be a man with no moral scruples, then maybe he will soon consider going in politics in Nigeria

  • anonymous…

If SLS could ascends as far as becoming Nigeria’s ‘James Bond’ and assuming each and every word compiled in cooking up the story to be true, then i wonder what is of his chief employer… Next news please!!

  • Mani_Kay

I have just been told by a friend that there are over 100 women in UBA, FIRST BANK, CBN and other organizations that are already lined up behind PREMIUM TIMES to testify against Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and press damages for consensual sexual penetration and abandonment with unfulfilled promises, rape, sexual abuse, sexual assault, sexual apartheid and discrimination for refusing to go to bed with Sanusi, and sexual harassment . I am also told that Sanusi is making frantic efforts to reach the publishers of PREMIUM TIMES who have vowed not to allow any compromise. I understand they told Sanusi to go court and clear himself. They have also refused to take the article off the web. I am also told that friends of Sanusi have spent the whole day lobbying other media houses (print and online) to kill the story. This case is far bigger than we are reading here ooooh………….more to come.

    • otobong

and you are a big liar. the story is on sahara! which promise? LWKMD!!!

      • Mani_Kay

Again, can you explain the reasons for how long it took the story to appear on Sahara Reporters? Did I ever say they have paid the hefty sum Omoyele Sowore demanded as condition for not publishing this scandal on Sahara Reporters? In fact, as I write to you they simply have not paid the hefty sum and the delay caused Sowore to publish the article. Please be informed that Sowore has restrained from uploading comments on the article subject to them paying a moderate amount of money. If again they refuse to pay, Sowore has vowed to publish public comments on the article/scandal.

  • Dan maikoko

Its so easy to buy information from hotel staff if you don’t even have your own people inside afterall there are only very limited hotels the likes of SLS can visit or stay. Phone snooping software is available on the net and you can track anybody if you know his number.

  • Dan maikoko

All I can say is that marital infidelity is the least of the troubles for which we can hang any official today in a Nigeria where the president moves about with an entourage of fuel subsidy thieves, contract mis-appropriators, certified looters and hardened terrorists. SLS is a role model for me including what he does for leisure!

  • owo b

Dear Premium Times… Mrs Yaro as SLS pointed out to you is indeed Dr Yaro. Why not accord her the respect of a degree she earned? She graduated as a Vet Doctor in 1990. Im sure you could have checked that out. She has worked in her field of Agric all over Nigeria for 22 yrs now. That was easy for you to verify. Is that qualification too poor or recent for her job? She works and still works in NISLR not CBN as reported as a contract staff. Premium Times Im sure you know that as well. What is it in her background or quilification that suggests a lady consultant working on the level of assistant director on a UN/Ministry of Agric program for 10yrs has to be smuggled into a Agric related post in NISLR? Premium Times please tell us how difficult is it to verify these things? if nollywood like scenes (seezing send buttons… are phones balloons?) and juggling on dates and “text content” is your new strategy…. enjoy yourselves.

    • Mani_Kay

Nonesense!!!! The issue here is about MARITAL INFIDELITY AND ADULTERY. It is not about the authenticity of educational qualifications.

I read the various reactions as contain in this forum, and I discover that the problem of Nigeria is strictly Nigerians. How on earth can an educated at least even if such a person is not illuminated enough, he/she should know that the Freedom Of Information law allows any Journalist to obtain info from any quarter with just the asking. Again, info can be gleaned from any source not the least hotels workers by greasing their palms, especially in a country whose nationals are as greedy and corrupt as this. To me, the Premium Times report is near flawless. the description that Mrs Yaro was in a seductive dress while awaiting the arrival of her guest was only stressed by the reporter to illustrate the mode in which the sex starved woman was in. It was only in the writer’s Imagination. But let’s return to SLS and Madam Yaro. Do we have set of rules or laws governing the conduct of public officers in this country? If we do have, then the next question should be: is SLS and his alleged co-traveller in contravention of this constitutional or statutory provision? If yes, then the law must take its course. There should be no religious, name-dropping or ethnic colouration attached to the issue at hand. I propose that the factors in the publication accused of the above offense should either refute the story as am sure they are aware of or sue the newspaper for libel and clear their names.

    • MUSTASH

As a journalist, I know how these things play out. This story potrays desperation to bring down SLS. It is not only about sex allegation (which is difficult to prove), it is also about 1. perception that SLS wants to be president, 2. SLS want to be emir of Kano, 3. SLS has enthroned nepotism in CBN etc. What have these 3 got to do with sex allegation? NOTHING! It clearly shows some people are desperate to bring him down. And to me, this has brought down this medium’s reputation in my eyes. The terrible thing is that we have not developed the culture of suing againsT libel in Nigeria, else some of these things can never be published.

      • Syca

It is people like you, ‘Journalist’ Mustash that make me worry for this country.

      • SpareMe

I know your kind of journalist…If you were reputable, your name wouldn’t need an introduction to some of us. Well done envelope boy! Useless piece of crap.

      • Aliu Shuaib

Mutashi the ‘journalist’, please where have you practiced? Please give us specifics, like PUNCH, This Day Guardian etc. Journalist ko, journalist ni. FOOL!

      • Mr. Alex Aidaghese

        Mr. Mustash,

I know where you are coming from.
That “we have not developed the culture of suing againsT libel in Nigeria”, is
not the issue. I am not so sure if you are aware that the applicable standard (burden of proof) in litigating libel or slander related cases, especially involving a public official, a big short, or matters of public interest or concern, is quite different from the standard applicable in litigating libel cases involving ordinary folks.

First, Mr. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (an Executive Level Government Official). Second, he is a big short – a celebrity – who, most often, injects himself into public issues, and thirdly, the allegations contained in the news report are matters of public concerns – a Governor of Central Bank engaged in extramarital affairs with a junior employee (subordinate) at government (public) expense – mutual consent is irrelevant here. Nevertheless, if he can prove that Premium Times deliberately/knowing or recklessly publish false stories – KNOWING THEM TO BE FALSE – then he has a case. In other words, to be guilty, Premium Times must have known that the stories are false, yet went ahead and publish them. So, my friend, it is not as easy as it looks. I believe that is the standard established in the New York Times case, and, if I am not mistaken, the same standard here in Nigeria.

Much as I find the news report (allegations) very unfortunate and disturbing, I cannot in true conscience pass judgment on the individuals involved, because I cannot vouch for the authenticity or otherwise of the story, even if true, whatever people do in the privacy of their own home or rented home is not of my business. In similar vein, I am reluctant to pass judgement on Premium Times for publishing the story, because I am not a journalist and I do not know the applicable standard – the vetting process before publication. We should all keep our fingers crossed as we watch events unfold.

I hope your Magazine is doing well in the market.

      • concerned9jaman

SLS is in a position to take the lead. Let him sue Premium Times & clear his name if he is innocent of the allegations….chikena

    • Aplus

Thumb up for your comment. if anyone still argues blindly about this, then that one should go quickly for brain surgery… I mean, how on earth would anyone argue on behalf of the Mallam when it’s all clear for the blind to see. I am not too surprised though, it’s the same posture semi-illiterates were having against Otedola who was sent as a bait by security personnel to nail the so-called Mr. Integrity, Fa(c)rouk Lawan when in actual fact, he has no integrity.

  • callit

If you have problem with this story, go and make your own findings and post them on facebook to counter this….I don’t know why some people take things so personal. Neither Sanusi nor Yaro is related to you and you are here talking nonsense. Premium Times, please carry on. We back you up. Even though the government might do nothing about it, and more so that they have the supports of some fools here, at least, the truth is on record.

  • Kolade Funsho

Ribadu is trying to rubbish SLS because of his interest in being Nigeria’s president. Ribadu should have read the hand writing on the wall when Tinubu dumped him for Jonathan. Ribadu listen you can never be president of Nigeria. Not even a ward head in Yola. You are tyring to destroy decent families, their husbands, wives and children. God will not allow you. You are a very wickedman.

    • Adoki

Na wetin concern Ribadu for this one?

  • Amazed

Nigeria is finished. We deserve the kind of inept, corrupt government we currently have. We also deserve the kind of media we now have. Premium Times dared to be different and gave Nigerians the kind of media Nigeria truly deserves. Rather than commend them, some Nigerians are condemning them. Why should it not matter to us that the head of our central bank is dating other people’s wives and engaging in his unholy escapades with public funds. That we are not lavishly commending Premium Times is indicative of how low we have sunk as a people.

    • Aplus

That’s the point, “other person’s wife”… To think that Premium Times’ critics do not single that out is a shame for this nation.

  • Ramalan

Na wah o! E be like say SLS fit do this kind thing fah! But I like the guy shah. I only wish he was not using private jets paid for by tax payers for these secret rendezvous.

Why are frowning at gays, lesbians, armed robbers, election riggers, prostitutes, boko haram, examination cheats, name them. Is not personal businesses? Call the report anything, the truth is that PREMIUM TIMES would not be toying with its hard fought reputation for a fabricated story. The reason courts are in existence is for yhe innocent ones to seek their redress. My worry is whether those rising in such caustic condemnation and imputation of meaning to the expose would be there when the pictures and videos follow

  • Boli Atepa of Ny Aleysund

Smart economist? No evidence of such. He is just a priviliged son of the Fulani oligarchy who happened to have a little education to be placed above those who are smarter. That is how things work in Nigeria.

  • Ngozi

I think those opposed to measures taken by the Central Bank of Nigeria are only trying to fight back. Sanusi warned several months ago that some people have voted huge amount of money for smear campaign and this is just part of it. At best the report amounts to Journalistic rascality and lacks the grace and balance required of a well groomed journalist. How Could the characters have chosen to discuss their satisfaction on an aeroplane when they had the opportunity to talk in the hotel or out of the hearing of other persons? Journalism should be used to advance the growth of Nigeria rather than being used to tarnish the image of brilliant, hardworking and patriotic Nigerians. That Newspaper should be sanctioned by the regulatory authourities and even closed down. Journalistic rascality should stop in Nigeria.

  • Francis olumide

I think those that published or fabricated this story do not have work to do. There is freedom for everybody to do whatever he or she likes. Has Sunusi committed any crime here?

  • truth

It is very true. i work with CBN and i know that this publication unstated the reality. The man seems to have been cursed with women. we had never had it so bad. From the first Governor to Soludo, we never had so much immorality, lawlessness and corruption so visibly displayed. Old staff of the bank are shocked and depressed to see an institution build with hard work being destroyed before their eyes. When he leaves the bank the truth shall prevail.

  • What Clone?

This story is fabricated. Just someone’s wicked imagination at work.

  • think right!

ALL THESE WERE WHOLLY FABRICATED TO PULL SLS DOWN.PREMIUM TIMES SHOULD TRY HARDER,MAY BE NEXT YEAR,THEY WILL WIN A GLOBAL RECOGNITION JUST AS HE DID IN 2011.

Well u may think its is a lie- but i bet u- go ask those working at the CBN, ask them about the latest recruitment in which about 5000 were employed. pls ask how it happened- I must confessed he is not the only one in the game-but i think when d head rots, d body suffers. This is the first time in the history of CBN this kind of mess is coming out and i bet u dont take it for granted- I know wat i say

  • Mani_Kay

It is simply delusional for any person to assume that this story is a mere fabrication when all the facts are laid bare in the story for anybody to deny or keep quiet forever. For instance did Sanusi, a mere CBN Governor waste public funds traveling on chartered flights? This matter cannot be wished away. Sanusi must go to court and defend himself. He should also show reasons why he should not be stoned to death for marital infidelity and adultery as stipulated in the Sharia code applicable to Muslims. Recall that it was Sanusi that beheaded Gideon Akaluka in Kano for falsely supposed Sharia violation.

    • otobong

you no get work. if we line up all the fictitious charges abacha slammed people with the people the entire NADECO would still be charged for bombing. Obj would still be in jail for fictitious coup plotting. is it easy to behead anyone and walk free and be employed UBA or head First Bank? or even pass sreening for appointment? Go find work do bros…

      • Mani_Kay

You are completely uninformed and must be ignored!!!!

This is just rubbish story…Premium times what’s your business with SLS personal life. If this is journalism then it’s a useless profession. I don’t see how this useless story affects the financial sector…this is just bunch of lies…. Premium times pls. change your journalism style….RUBBISH

    • Mani_Kay

Since yesterday that this scandal was exposed, all that Sanusi’s defenders are saying to us here is that this is rubbish, a mere fabrication, witch-hunt, blackmail journalism but shamefully not one of them is challenging the hard facts in this excellent piece of investigative journalism by Premium Times. In fact, the only one that I would say came near to challenging the facts in this report only complained of the fact that Sanusi’s adulterous mistress Dr Mrs Maryam Yaro was not duly addressed with her academic title of Dr. by Premium Times. Okay, that complain is noted and accepted; what else?

  • Olumide Folami

Mallam Sanusi is well known in Nigeria not for his cupid abilities or personal desires but he is well known and hired for his ability to manage and direct the Nigeria federal reserves and maoney management policies and I think he has been good at that, also he has made considerable impact on political issues, Mr Sanusi didnt say he was a saint and no man alive can lay claim to not having one or tow short coming, We should stop the habit of mud slinging people who have one way or the other lived above board. Leave Mallam Sanusi Alone, let his God be his Judge

  • otboy

    well said.

  • Sadiq Garba

A truely married woman would not be as stupid as what Premium Times is trying to put it.
Mrs Yaro and all other married women working in public places ( for nothing other than dirty wealth) should note that, what they can not get from the comfort of their husbands’ home, they can never get it elsewhere.
This story by Premium Times, may be part of the price Mrs Yaro is paying for being a wife to her job instead of her husband. May Allah guide us all.

That is common with all muslims. They are sex animal. What killed Abacha? A woman! I am not surprise. Like prophet like follower. Mohammed was 54 years old – 3 years older than Sanusi when he lied to his brother and married his own brother’s daughter by name Aisha while she was just 6 years old.

Mohammed started fucking Aisha from nine years old and Mohammed was 57 because Aisha went into Mohammed home three years later after marriage.

Who is worse here – Mohammed at 57 fucking his brother’s daughter at nine years old or Sanusi 54 fucking another man’s wife? Is it Boko Haram fucking themselve in the bush with military discovering a lot of Condom? Is it marrying Seven Virgin in heaven after suicide mission? Or having permission to marry four wife once you declare yourself a muslim. All is promise of more sex weather on earth or in heaven.

    Evidence:

    Sahih Bukhari V.7, B62, N. 37

    Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas:

It was said to the Prophet, “Won’t you marry the daughter of Hamza?” He said, “She is my foster niece (brother’s daughter). ”

Sahih Muslim Book 008, Number 3310:

‘A’isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) married me when I was six years old, and I was admitted to his house when I was nine years old.

TO DECEIVE HER AFTER THE FORCEFUL MARRIAGE HE LIED TO AISHA

    Sahih Bukhari 9.140

    Narrated ‘Aisha:

Allah’s Apostle said to me, “You were shown to me twice (in my dream) before I married you. I saw an angel carrying you in a silken piece of cloth, and I said to him, ‘Uncover (her),’ and behold, it was you. I said (to myself), ‘If this is from Allah, then it must happen.

This is all hypothesis without any attempt to challenge the facts stated in the article. Tell Sanusi to go Court and to the appropriate Islamic Sharia Court to clear his name. Go to UBA, FIRST BANK, CBN and you will discover that this is what Sanusi is well known for…sleeping around with married women, office tea girls and cleaners.

This is just an attempt to tarnish the image of an excellent public office holder with a
proven track record and an excellent potential future ahead.
How did they get this text messages? From which network were they transacted? Was it disclosed
by the network operators or by the accused themselves? Let them tell us from which network these text messages originate(MTN, GLO, AIRTELl etc.
He who destroy others in order to succeed will have greater destruction awaiting him at the end of his success.

    • Mani_Kay

Again I would continue to repeat that the defenders of Sanusi should
keep sentiments aside and face the facts which none of them is willing
to do as far as their comments here are concerned.@Ibrahim Musa Ahmed, how naive it is for you to expect PREMIUM TIMES as journalists to reveal the source of their information just like that. It is only when Sanusi goes to court that you may begin to see all the hard facts including video evidence provided the courts compel them to do so. I hope you will not commit suicide when all the evidence you and others are asking for are made public if the courts of our land so wishes. The best thing for you to do now is to ask Sanusi to go court and clear his name. I bet you it would be so messy to behold..

      • Ibrahim Musa Ahmed

my friend, this is just a hoax, i look at it as character assassination. there is no fact.

  • Oweja

My fellow countrymen are no longer capable of being shocked by any news, no matter how bad. Nothing is seen as wrong anymore. Alhamdulillah, we have moved to the next level!

  • I don’t know the nigga but…

Am gon say what I feel, very frankly, and I don’t care what the moral high standing Americanized commenters are gon do with it. All of us are fools. So sanusi is having an affair? Whose muthaf***in business is that???! Why don’t you go ahead and fire half of all public servants since they are all doing the same? You people are so silly. Anyway am not surprised. Fine man with London accent and bow tie like sanusi. Thank god he is fucking a woman. If he was sleeping with a man these idiots would have said another thing . Honestly Nigerians are so unserious . So because those stupid Americans and French are ready to sacrifice their leaders at the drop of a pant you want to join them abi? Oya join dem na. Shebi u have reached the same level of development as them. Nonsense. In a fledgling country like nigeria that had weak or no institutions , you find a man like sanusi who had saved our economy from the gale of disaster that is blowing across the world, and earned a reputation across the world which thinks Nigerians are all fraudsters or bombers but you all are more interested in his extra curricular pastimes . Idiots . When you reach where America and France have reached , and EARN the right to sift leaders for qualities other than service delivery and effectiveness , please call me! Otondos. One step at a time o, if u fit hear. Oya go and sack good luck and his entire pdp cabinet of womanisers and drinkards. And you all better not be fucking nobody at work or am gon call your wife a pronto and let loose the New York herald on your stinky asses. If you can’t detect political undertones in this unheard of newspaper ‘s bloody investigative journalism , excuse me, throw your key pad down and go to kindergarten where you belong . No one is saying adultery is right but if you all gon sit there and tell me this crap news serves any interest of nigeria at this point on time then I’ve had it with the stupidity of Nigerians . The only person in the world who should deal with this is Mrs Sanusi. The rest of you are on a very high grade of bad smoke and damn you know am pissed to read this nonsense. Fuck Nigerians . Moralizing pretentious pervs y’all .

  • Hauwa Ashafa

Dr. Ali Sammani left the below comment on another blog. I like to share it here.

“This is the comment Rinsola Abiola didn’t want to publish.

“I am surprised about your piece and across the blog sphere people are hitting hard on PT. The question we ought to ask ourselves re SLS affair saga are the allegations true or not? SLS is a public servant and surely he’s accountable to the general public. If the alleged story is true – that he’s abusing his position as CBN governor. SLS need to resign his position as CBN because it is the right thing to do!
“If Sir Mervyn King Bank of England governor was alleged to do this – surely he’ll do the necessary thing to sue the newspaper or resign his position because that’s gross abuse of the taxpayers money & confidence. I am not more concerned about his adultery because that’s him and his conscience and family to deal with – I’m concerned about his abuse of his position, confidence and using taxpayers money to fund his lifestyle. If SLS want to sleep with 20 women married or not with his money without the taxpayers money – that’s his cuppa! I hope you’re aware of Silvio Berlusconi, General David Petraeus saga etc
“Let focus on the subject matter and quit bashing PT for having the boldness to print the story. PT contacted the SLS and Dr Yaro as well for their comment. Stories like this can be printed because it is public worthy! Don’t you want to know if your CBN governor is using taxpayers money to fund his lifestyle and gross abuse of his position? This story is public worthy because SLS is a public servant and he’s serving as the governor of CBN.”

    Dr AS

  • Moh’d

I don’t get why people are sentimental over this issue. The allegation is as shocking as it is distasteful. But d solution is simple, if d news is true, then he should own up 2 his responsibilities, apologies 2 nigerians and then resign & if its a lie then he’s free 2 take d matter 2 d court.

It has just been revealed by SR that there is a SEX TAPE. So it means that some people really planned this. This sex tape will demolish this poor woman’s marriage…it is a shame.

In this tales by the moon light,no person was mentioned as the author of the story which lives raises a few questions, was it the husband of the woman involved that told this tale or Sanusi’s wife? if the story is not from the above mentioned individuals,I will likely take this story with a pinch of salt.

The Guy is doing is job well and fine, no qualms. However is morals and characters just dont add up. However i know generally having it with married women, particularly among adherents of Islam is not considered a sin nor an abomination, as far as there is mutual consent, hence your can see from various comments by these commentator. They would rather you focus on his competence rather than on his character. But in the award of a university certificate its stated that the award is based on learning and character,is it not?

  • Anonymous

Premium times this is all bullshit. I too have heard a story similar to this but let me tell you something. I have also been watching his footsteps and I have seen nothing like this. I have watched him for a long time. I used to work with him. This is all LIES. You useless people are just trying to tarnish his image in the name of being a journalist(s) Please if you do not know what is good for you GIVE UP. You are part of the reasons why Nigeria will never go forward as a country. “Forward ever, Backward Never” but you people have changed it. Instead of you to show us ways on how to make our country more sustainable, you have decided to post this rubbish. You people and all the nigerian “bloggers” are useless. You need to go out and get yourself a job because i am sure you are not earning anything from this.

  • uduakomiri

There is an element of investigative journalism contained in this piece. Though some part of it reads like an ‘all seeing-eye’ script yet the dates, and details from the text messages suggest someone who is in the know of the details leaked the affair to the press.

I my own opinion we need this sort of investigative journalism especially as it concerns public office holders. Though as an adult, Sanusi Lamido is entitled to privacy yet as a public holder and someone in a sensitive position of authority in Nigeria his conduct and actions in private are a matter of public interest. Based on this story (portions of which are backed up by evidence) his private interest conflicts with the public interest.

Again, there are very valid evidence of reckless use of taxpayers fund. If he was paying for chattered flights on a round-country junkets for a love rendezvous with his mistress then taxpayers should not be made to fund his recklessness.

But then this is Nigeria. Nothing is going to happen. Maybe in the next 1000 years, a CBN governor would step down on exposure of his having an affair with a subordinate. A former New York mayor a couple of years back resigned as result of press exposure of his affair. A US governor also resigned when his affair was exposed. Just today, the chief of Boston Fire Department resigned as a result of a letter written by senior staff who express lack of confidence on his handling of the Boston Marathon terror attack.
One day, hopefully, this sort of investigative and incisive journalism will help Nigerians force reckless public officer holders to resign. We are getting there!
    Democracy ya shiga mana!

  • Gidi

If morality is the only qualification for serving in public office, then all the Nigerian leaders are guilty. The only thing damaging in this story is conflict of interest or appearance of conflict of interest.

Alot of idiots n fools hav bein sayin all sorts of nonsense and jagons on dis page, but dat will NEVER bring d strong n honest SLS down. Carry on our CBN gov, ur name had gone high. Please go and read the CBN Press Release defending Sanusi. It is also on this website. But reacting to the CBN statement, PREMIUM TIMES Acting Managing Editor, Idris Akinbajo, said the paper is standing firmly by its story. “We knew the story was going to shock a lot of people,” Mr. Akinbajo said. “We were under no illusion that Nigerians would hurriedly swallow the bitter truth of the revelations made in the story.” He added, “We have discharged our responsibility of providing information we believe citizens need to hold officials accountable. “Our job is done, as we will only continue to provide additional information as necessary. “It is left for Nigerians to either demand accountability or live with, and celebrate the indiscretions of their leaders. “We stand firmly by our story and look forward to the moment the CBN Governor will boldly look Nigerians in the face and say the things we reported in that story did not happen.” ===== The foregoing is the reaction of Premuim Times to this CBN Press Release. It is on Premium Times website…..found at the bottom of the CBN Press Release on their website.

  • Anas Abdullah

unethical jounalism indeed!!! this is just a fabricated story aims at tarnishing the image of SLS, no right thinking person will bleive this story is true, so many conflicting claims. Premium times you lack moral justification. The CBN as an institution they proved them selves’ in observing due process in bringing the woman to work with them, they have categorically substantiated their claims that the woman “Dr. Maryam Yaro is not, and has never been an employee of the Central Bank of Nigeria. She was one of four consultants (three of whom were male), hired by the Nigeria Incentive-based Risk-sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) Plc; on a one year contract, renewable on the basis of satisfactory performance. NIRSAL Plc is a special purpose vehicle (SPV) set up by the Federal Government of Nigeria, through a partnership between the CBN and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD).” you just aims at defarmation of SLS’s and the gentle lady’s character.

  • ACTION MAN

This is a very sad one. Although I don’t support intruding on someone’s privacy, it is unacceptable when public funds pay the bills of private enjoyment. I really pity and feel for the woman’s husband. How I wish he doesn’t see this story. If he does, he will be expected to take action. Several options close his ears, investigate and then ….. what? I just pity this man! I pray that he will receive this well,

in saner climes, this aboki would have resigned in order to protect the integrity of his office, but stupidly, even commentators who should have felt shortchanged by the supposedly holy mallam’s condemnable actions are busy castigating the writer/investigator. Little wonder bribe-takers like Fa(c)rouk Lawan are still in the national assembly making laws. I can’t help but keep wondering what on earth is wrong with the black race, Nigeria being the champion…

  • samal54

This is a free world. As long as Mrs. Yaro gave consent to whatever transpired between the two, that is no body’s business; including the moral aspect which they only owe explanation to God. As for source of information, some hotels spy activities of their customers. In one such case, the duo (a GSM company manager and a married co-female executive) were published nude – confirming the story with pictorial evidence. It is not new; more than Lamido/Yaro matter has been happening unsung. I know someone who once lodged in a hotel where every conversation he had in his room was played back for him, just to reassure him of tight security put in place by the management of the hotel. The understanding of this story hings on the level of exposure of the reader.

I wonder why some fools have taken it upon themselves to play Sanusi ‘s lawyer when the randy goat can defend himself. If this story is false, let him sue the paper for libel; until then, this is an accurate report

I wonder why everyone’s hissing, everyone’s looting and cheating us out of our money, taxes and natural resources, now one of those flawed people is bringing our attension to money that’s we didn’t even know about (amounting to trillions of Naira) and all we can talk about is his promiscuous nature or his degree? Did he just walk into CBN, sit down and declare himself as Governor?

Well instead of talk about the extra plate of food Sanusi must have spend on his many flings and women I’m more keen to look into the NNPC and NPDC scandal and figure out who’s
pockets are the trillions of Naira going every year.
