Some women in Imo state indulged in a road work in celebration of the state governor’s birthday.

Some women in Imo State on Wednesday trooped out in their hundreds for a road walk to celebrate the 50th birthday of the state governor, Rochas Okorocha.

Led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Mobilisation, Gertrude Oduka, the women marched through the streets singing the governor’s praise.

Ms. Oduka said the road wak is to show appreciation to the state governor.

“We want to show our appreciation to the governor in our own little way; since he assumed office, Imo has improved; Imo women appreciate it and we urge him to do more.

“As mothers, we are happy because he is making the state better for our children. So, today, we share in his joy as he marks his golden jubilee,” Ms. Oduka.

A participant of the road walk and a former Commissioner in the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, Josephine Udorji, commended the governor’s wife, Ezinne Okorocha, for her contributions to her husband’s success.

“As we are wishing the governor many more years, we also commend our first lady for complementing his efforts to move the state forward.

“The people of Imo are asking for more, we pray for more blessing for the governor and his wife as well as the people of the state at large,” she said.
