Removal of fuel subsidy and inflation

Dear Editor,

With the removal of the long talked-about fuel subsidy, Nigerians have been ushered into a year of hyper-inflation with the growing government intolerance. This is indeed a mindless diversion of public funds. Here is the time to take and secure your destiny in your own hands collectively and asserting our sovereignty could deflate any form of obstacles and reclaiming that which ought to be our right. I for one, there is something fundamentally wrong allowing the so-called World Bank and International Monetary Fund agents to continuously interfere negatively in the running affairs of our economy.

The World Bank, which is primarily run and controlled by United States, are partly responsible for the underdevelopment of Africa for over a decade now. The interference in the model of our economy is totally unacceptable. They provide loans and same time execute few of the projects which ended in the private accounts of it’s consultants and the creditors. They played a major role in the devaluation of Nigeria currency as well as the final removal of fuel subsidy.

Fuel subsidy is opportunity cost, imposing unbearable tax on Nigerians in a determination to milk out money from the poor populace which it can share with Governors rather than using the word withdrawal of fuel subsidy. The Governors supported the fuel subsidy removal because they have been promised plenty money to share as allocation. Imagine the federal government saying they are armed and battle ready to smash any Nigerians who may publicly protest their feelings against the removal of fuel subsidy.

This is the highest madness without recourse to the plight of it’s citizens. For how long can we bear this?

Yours Sincerely,

Ebstam
