Kenyan marathoner says she’d love to marry Nigerian

2017 Lagos City Marathon

Rhoda Jepkhorir of Kenya, the first female elite athlete to cross the finish line in Saturday’s 2nd Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, said she would not hesitate to marry a Nigerian if approached.

Jepkhorir told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the finish point that she would not hesitate due to the kind nature of Nigerians.

“If a Nigerian man should ask for my hand in marriage, I will marry him because Nigerians are nice people.

“Nationality is no barrier, so far he is committed and caring, I will have no option,’’ she said.

She also said that she loved watching the duo of Nigerian actors, Aki and Pawpaw, saying that she was so attached to Nigeria.

“Aki and Pawpaw are my best actors in Nigeria, I have so much love for the Nigerian movie industry,’’ the runner said.

The athlete, who is visiting Nigeria for the first time, said that winning the race was a dream come true for her.

“The race has given me the opportunity to come to my dream country, I will come over and over again,’’ she said. (NAN)

While a good number of hardworking Nigerians like Aki and Pawpaw are promoting Nigeria with their talent and industry, government officials including the President travel the world presenting and representing the country as one full of thieves, rogues and fraudsters. Meanwhile they fail to do anything real to curb crime rate at home other than politics of self-interest. People like Aki and Pawpaw should be given national honours and even appointed as ambassadors instead of the continuous recycle of those in the political cult of rogues.

Should be given national honor for what? Maybe every actor in Nigeria should be made ambassador. As for me, I don’t like Aki & Pawpaw show. My favorite actors/actresses are but not limited to Omotola, Genevieve, Oga Bello, Baba Wande, RMD, Mercy Aigbe… While I do not dispute Pawpaw & Aki of their good role, they have never been my favorites.

The point is the need for a socio-political system that promotes meritocracy, industry, professionalism as patriotism, instead of the current culture of nepotism, mediocrity and roguery. It’s about an issue about favorite actors or such mundane matters.
