Rachael Dickson, the wife of the Bayelsa State governor, Seriake Dickson, has given birth to quadruplet – a boy and three girls – in the United States of America.

Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the Chief Press Secretary to Mr. Dickson, who broke the news in a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES, Friday, said the mother and the children are doing well.

Mr. Iworiso-Markson said it was a season of celebration for the family.

“This is particularly good news for the family and Bayelsans because this bundle of joy is coming after many years of praying and waiting upon the Lord,” Mr. Iworiso-Markson said.

“Governor Dickson thanks friends, family members and Bayelsans for their prayers and support and enjoins them to continue to pray for the family.”

‘Penta’ joy! One each for the babies and the 5th is for the victory in court. Suggested baby names: Victor and sisters. May the other wives and their children be given ‘official’ recognition now. We hear that Gov. Dickson has married several wives with numerous children but keeps Rachael as his official wife with him at Bayelsa Government House.

Finally, something to cheer about coming from Nigeria. But you expect this reporter to give perspective to the report given this comment from the governor’s spokesperson,

“This is particularly good news for the family and Bayelsans because this bundle of joy is coming after many years of praying and waiting upon the Lord,” Mr. Iworiso-Markson said.

Did the couple have kids before this or not? While this clearly is a great news, it would resonate even greater if the governor and his wife have been trying for some time.
