Expelled Kannywood actress, Rahama Sadau, apologises for music video role

Embattled Kannywood actress, Rahama Sadau, on Tuesday apologised to her fans and Nigerians for featuring in a romantic music video.

Rahama was expelled by the regulators of the Kannywood film industry, MOPPAN, for featuring in ClassiQ’s new single “I love You”.

In a letter she posted on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Rahama said she could not have played her role in the music video to hurt anyone.

“To those who I have offended in any way, shape or form and who I have caused any anxiety by featuring in the said music video, I sincerely apologize,” she wrote.

“I may have fallen short of some people’s expectations but it was never my intention.

“I make no excuses for my actions and I take full responsibility,” Rahama said.

The Kannywood star actress also thanked her fans for standing by her. She also appreciated the advice she received.
“I implore us all to be more tolerant and forgiving towards one another,” Rahama said.

A member of MOPPAN told PREMIUM TIMES that with the apology, Rahama’s expulsion may be reversed.

“She has really shown maturity in handling the entire issue,” the source said. “This is a great response from her.”

    Reversed or reviewed?
She can make a career in Nollywood, so let her spare the Hausa film industry of her troubles.
With such punishments and reversals, many users of the Hausa film would not be comfortable with Kannywood films any more, especially with issues bordering on morals.

it is shameful that a subtly expressive music video would result in expulsion from an entire industry. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the video unless you are a hypocritical prude male – probably who each of the board members are.

What do you expect from a culture-shock? The emergent will surely become the dominant. That’s why the film industry is taken with a pinch of salt in Islamic setups. If you excuse them as “culture ambassadors” they will degenerate into worse things like the legendary, despised Maryam Hiyana. Allowing them to continue this dastardly acts will certainly justify the Igbo adage: Allow a leper a handshake; he’ll require an embrace. May Allah protect us from the enemy within
