Anchor Baby released on DVD

The movie sells for N500 per copy.

Multiple award winning Nollywood drama, Anchor Baby, is now out on DVD.

The movie, which debuted at the cinema in 2010, is one of Nollywood’s highest grossing movies with over N18 million made in box office.

Shot in Canada, the movie tells the story of a married Nigerian couple, Joyce and Paul, who have been living undocumented in the United States. They are expecting their child when they are ordered to leave the country by the U.S immigration department. They decide to leave only after Joyce delivers her baby, to guarantee automatic U.S. citizenship for their child.

Anchor Baby has gathered lots of international attention and won a lot of awards both internationally and locally.

It won the award for Best Feature Film at the 2010 Harlem international Film Festival, Best Screenplay at the 2010 Los Angeles Movie Awards, the Golden Palm Award at the 2010 Mexico International Film Festival, the Award of Excellence at the 2010 Canadian International Film Festival and others. It also enjoyed a warm reception in the United Kingdom, Ghana, U.S., as well as in Nigeria.

Distribution is handled by Dioni Vision Limited with a copy going for N500.

Anchor Baby, starring Omoni Oboli, is available in stores and film houses nationwide and contains special behind the scene footage. It is also available in Europe and North America.
