Ben Affleck, Adele, Daniel Day Lewis win big at Oscars

The 85th Academy Awards held on Sunday night in Hollywood

The 85th Academy Awards which held, Sunday night, in Hollywood, did pull up a few surprises for movie buffs. For instance, Ben Affleck got his shining moment when his blockbuster political thriller flick, Argo, earned the Oscar for Best Picture. The award was presented to him by the American First Lady, Michelle Obama in the White House.

Daniel Day Lewis on the other hand, made history as the first man to win three Best Actor plaques for his performance as the 17th American President, Abraham Lincoln, in the Stephen Speilberg movie of the same title.

Clear favourite, Anne Hathaway, who was earlier tipped for the Oscar Best Actress award didn’t go empty, as her role in Les Miserables, earned her an Oscar.

British singer, Adele carted away another award for the mantelpiece after winning an Oscar for Best Song for the latest 007 James Bond flick, Skyfall.

The most dramatic moment of the night, however, belonged to Jennifer Lawrence, who tripped up the stage en route to collecting the Best Actress statuette for Silver Linings.
