Nas to lose $1m unpaid tax

The rapper is also being investigated by federal authorities.

American rap legend, Nas, is expected to lose $1 million as tax remittance to the State of Georgia Department of Revenue, according to TMZ.

The department has filed new legal papers to collect unpaid taxes from the rapper between 2006 and 2010 amounting to US$1,083,435.

The hip hop star is currently on his ‘Life is Good’ tour with Lauryn Hill, the former Fugees star who is facing a three year jail term and $75,000 in fines after pleading guilty to tax evasion charges last June.

Court documents revealed that the revenue department obtained an order compelling Live Nation, the company promoting the rappers’ tour to remit all the artiste’s income to the state until the department is satisfied.

The rapper, who lost his house a few weeks ago, is also under investigation by the federal government for unpaid taxes running into millions of dollars.
